Vincent's always on the toilet because he's a heroin addict. Opiates cause constipation. Opiate addicts also suffer from muscle twitches, which is why he shot Marvin in the face. His addiction is the cause of every problem he faces in the movie.
Oh really?! We didn't know that was a side effect lol. He definitely should have left that life when Jules did
He was also there with Marcellus, who had left to go get food, thats why he felt safe leaving the gun there and prob didn’t react when he heard noises.
The car went over a bump.
Didn’t know that.
@@ceelos4504 I always wonder if Marcellus regrets giving Butch a pass or 3ven goes back on it when he finds out about Vincent.
Teddie: Glad Marvin’s ok
Everyone: Ummm…
RIP!! 😭😭😭
Just thought I'd provide a little clarity on the situation where Butch shoots Vincent, because a lot of people get confused about why everything that happened, happened. Butch hitting Marcellus with his car isn't a coincidence. He didn't just happen to be down there and whoops, there's Butch. He and Vincent were at the apartment together, either searching it or staking it out in case Butch returned, which is why Marcellus is walking back to it carrying donuts and drinks. When Marcellus had gone out to get food for them he obviously couldn't carry that massive machine gun with him, so he left it behind on the counter. Vincent, being a heroine addict, has bowel problems, and went into the bathroom. He no doubt heard noises out in the apartment while he was in there, but figured it was just Marcellus having returned with their food. Instead he opens the door to find Butch pointing his boss's gun at him. Whoops.
Vic Vega is the brother of Vincent Vega; Michael Madsen was supposed so play Vincent, but he was working on another project, so Tarantino got John Travolta, which restarted his career.
Wow I knew it wasn't a coincidence lol. They're both cool characters, but crazy in their own way 😭
@@byrdmanteddie There was also supposedly going to be an "origin story" type movie about the two brothers, but it kept getting delayed until Michael Madsen and John Travolta got to old to play the roles.
I think that in Butch's apartment we see the consequences for Vincent in rejecting the miracle. He works with Jules. Jules retired due to the miracle. This meant Vincent was watching the apartment with a new partner, Marcellus. When Vincent was in the bathroom, Marcellus went out for some snacks. That's the only reason Butch was able to walk out of that apartment. Marcellus doesn't know about Vincent's habits. He didn't know Vincent would spend a significant amount of time in the bathroom. Jules would have known and Jules would have been there when Butch showed up.
This is true! Jules lives and vince dies cuz of how they respond to that miracle. Great storytelling 🔥
“I don’t do drugs…. Just weed” I felt that
You get it 🤝🏽 lol
💯
Exactly me too
“I’m glad Marvin’s OK”
😫😫😫
Vincent Vega here in Pulp Fiction, it´s the brother of Vic Vega (Mr Blonde) in Reservoir Dogs!! It´s a connection yeah guys!!
That's a crazy set of brothers 😭 Love the characters tho!
30:00 - Think about it. If Marsellus dies, his posse will still spend the rest of their lives looking for Butch. In fact, both Vincent and Marsellus would have died today while waiting for Butch so it would be obvious that he was to blame. Saving Marsellus was both compassionate, and intelligent. It was the only real way to be completely free from pursuit.
You're overthinking it. Even though Butch and Marcellus had a beef, now they had a common enemy and they were essentially allies. Nobody could leave another person in that situation no matter how they felt about them.
That’s all true, but I think if you read Butch’s expression when he decides to go back, he’s really only thinking that what Zed is doing is a whole other level of wrong. He and Marcellous have disrespected each other and are out to kill each other, but this isn’t right and has nothing to do with their disagreement.
Plus… Butch isn’t much of a thinker. This plot to scam Marcellous is probably the most planning he’s done in his life and even it doesn’t require much deep thought.
"Whose motorcycle is this?"
"It's a chopper, baby."
"Whose chopper is this?"
"It's Zed's."
"Who's Zed?"
"Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead."
Fun Fact: This was one of the first movies to use the Internet for advertising.
Casting Notes Fact: Uma Thurman originally turned down the role of Mia Wallace. Quentin Tarantino was so desperate to have her as Mia, he ended up reading her the script over the phone, finally convincing her to take on the role.
Highly Profitable Fact: The movie cost only $8 Million to make. The initial budget was reportedly even lower until Bruce Willis was added to the cast (he had a recent string of domestic flops but was still a box-office draw overseas). $5 Million went to pay the cast's salaries. The film was already profitable when its worldwide rights were sold for $11 Million (again, mainly on the strength of Bruce Willis' presence). It went on to gross over $200 Million at the box office.
Automobile Enthusiast Fact: The 1964 Chevelle Malibu convertible driven by Vincent Vega (John Travolta) belonged to writer and director Quentin Tarantino and was stolen during production of the film. In 2013, a police officer saw two kids stripping an older car. He arrested them, and while looking up the owner of the vehicle he found the VIN had been altered. It turned out that it was Tarantino's stolen car. The owner had recently purchased it and had no idea it was stolen.
The MacGuffin Fact: Speculation abounds as to the nature of the mysterious glowing contents of the case (which Tarantino said was simply a MacGuffin plot device). Some think it could be Elvis' gold suit, seen worn by Val Kilmer (as Elvis) in True Romance (1993). The most persistent theory is that it is Marcellus Wallace's soul. The story goes that when the Devil takes a person's soul, it is removed through the back of the head (though it should be noted that this part of devilish lore is found nowhere in the Bible). When we see the back of Marcellus' head he has a Band-Aid covering the precise spot indicated by tradition (supposedly) for soul removal. Perhaps Marcellus sold his soul to the devil which would also explain why the combination to open the briefcase is 666. Makes you think.
Thanks for all the info! That theory about the soul in the briefcase is CRAZZZY 😭 That's the story I choose to believe for sure
You're welcome!
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
You need a hobby.
28:59 “this seems like a hobby” 🤣🤣🤣 that killed me
Everybody has their thing I guess 😂
If you want to know who scratched Vincent's car?
It was Butch when he left the bar! there was an earlier draft of the screenplay where it tells you that but parked right next to his car.
Also what's in the case is the Oscar it should've won for best picture!
Not sure what came out that year, but this movie needed that Oscar 😤
@@byrdmanteddie
1995 oscars
Pulp fiction was up against,
Shawshank redemption and
Forrest Gump.
*Gump won*
@-C.S.R Ah ok. We do love Forest gump lol can't be too mad
Mia snorting the heroine was kinda kinda an understandable accident as it was in a baggie not a balloon.
Not many people notice the "666" on the suitcase lock, my favourite theory is that what is inside is Marsellus' soul. When we see him talking to Butch about the fight he has a band aid on his neck, that is traditionally the way people say the soul leaves the body. Vincent was always in the bathroom because heroine usually how to say, stops your bowel movements. Great reaction!!
That is the correct going Theory
A lot of people wonder why Butch is in such a rush to get out of town when he leaves Wallace with Zed. If Wallace gave him a free pass to get out of town, why the rush? Some think that its because Wallace may change his mind, and would want to silence Butch, to keep that little incident hush hush. After thinking on it, it occurred to me that there is another very big reason that he needs to split real fast. The reason is this, Wallace doesn't yet know that Butch just gunned down his good friend Vincent. When Wallace discovers that, he will most definitely have the kill order back on.
Ahhh didn't think about that! Yeah he had to get a move on quickly 😂
Marcellus said to get out of town by tonight.
Plus he needs to follow through with his original plan of collecting & meeting up with his friend.
The criminal element might not get the memo right away to leave Butch alone since he seems a bit preoccupied at the moment.
26:25 - A couple of things about this scene. First, I heard that heroin makes people constapated. This is why you see Vincent on the toilet throughout the movie. Secondly, Jules decided to "retire" (which you see at the last scene of the movie) - which is why Vincent was alone in Butch's house. If Jules didn't retire, it would have been the end for Butch.
Impotent, too. You don't care, though.
Insane turn of events 😭 genius storytelling
Actually Vincent was not alone. The gun that was on the counter was actually belonging to Marcellus who was walking back to the apartment with what looked like food and drinks for both of them when he ran into Butch in the car. That's why Vincent wasn't surprised or concerned when he was in the toilet and heard Butch in the kitchen because he figured it was Marcellus until he saw him of course.
Good call on the Vega brothers, Vincent and Vic were brothers. Tarantino did have plans to make a movie about the Vega brothers that was set in time before Reservoir Dogs & Pulp Fiction. What a movie that would have been!!!
That movie would be CHAOS 😂 sucks that it never happened
I love when people are SO sure that Mia and Vincent are going to get snuggly, because then what REALLY happens is an even bigger surprise.
The misdirect was crazy!
@@byrdmanteddie Right? You guys are so fun, I look forward to more!
We appreciate you! Thanks for hanging out with us 😁
The breafcase its just a MacGuffin. Altough there are some of hypothesis about what it is (because its never said on the movie). Some people believe its meant to be Marcellius soul: The briefcase pass is 666, and in some religions its believed that the soul sits on the back of the neck (where he has a band-aid). Other people think that its whatever you desire most. I prefer the last one.
Yeah the soul theory is WILD lol. I like that they left it to interpretation tho!
Zorro was a show in the 1950s. It fits the theme of the restaurant.
Byrdman, You are the first reacter I've seen who noticed enough to mention it that almost everything important that happens to John Travolta happens while he is in the bathroom.. So, kudos and bravo to you.
Thanks! Apparently it's a side effect of the heroine that makes him constipated. It just seemed like a weird coincidence 😂
This is one of my favorite movies. Over the years, my kids heard/saw it. My son came home at about age 8 and said the neighbor caught her man (named brett) cheating. He said, "Mom, she went pulp fiction on him!" I was thinking she shot him, my son goes, "She said 'Yes you did Brett! Yes, you did!'" 😂
LMAO 😭😭
😂😂😂
The guy in the bathroom @32:18 was actor/actress Rosanna Arquette's sister Alexis (then known as Robert Arquette). Rosanna plays "Jody" the wife of "Lance" the Heroin dealer. Their sister Patricia Arquette stars in "True Romance" Written by Tarantino.
A friend of mine and I were in a Wendy's in San Diego one night and the manager came over and apologized and said our meal was on the house! We asked why and he informed us we were just in a robbery 😂😂
First time watching you two, and I enjoyed it. A little disappointed that the whole car cleanup scene was wiped, but I get that something has to give. There's too many favorite scenes in this movie! You've got a new subscriber. Keep them coming!
Agreed! It was hard to choose scenes lol. We saw some channels split their reaction into 2 videos to show more. Maybe we'll do that for longer movies in the future. Thanks for hanging with us!
i think fast, i talk fast... definitively cult!
Suzanne Vega, the singer of "Tom's Diner", is the cousin of Vincent according to a deleted scene. You can probably find that deleted scene on UA-cam. Also the guy who keyed Vincent's car was Butch after he insulted him at Marsellus' bar. The scene was written but it was cut from the script
It always annoys me when people don't pay attention enough to understand why Mia overdosed, you two are a couple of the good ones.
I think its more to do with people not understanding drugs.
@@russellward4624 The movie does a reasonable job of laying out that they are on two different things, logic suggests that these things probably aren't interchangeable.
Everything was happening so fast! I'm glad we were able to keep up 😂 thanks for watching!
She probably never did heroin especially that high grade stuff...
I subbed because of this reaction. I saw this movie in a theater the week it came out with no clue about it.
I will never watch another movie that can compete to how fast my heart was racing.
Thanks for watching! Watching this in theaters sounds like an experience 🔥
Samuel Jackson was nominated for an Oscar for his role in this movie. You noticed that Vincent was killed because Samuel Jackson's character retired.
Jules started as the tyranny of evil men and became the shepard. God struck Vincent down because he tried to poison and destroy Jules after the miracle. Butch went back for Marcellus because he was a righteous man and truly his brother's keeper.
My personal theory is that Marvin's death was a replacement for Vincent and Jules lives. It sort of balances the books, even though he was only one and they were two. (Probably for Jules, since Vincent is shot later on.) There's a lot of god and devil stuff in this movie; note the color the room changes when Brett is killed to the same color as the open briefcase glows. Is that the devil in the room?
Don't know if any other commenters have mentioned this, but there's a theory that Mr. Pink, the non-tipper is now in this movie making his living as a waiter dependent on tips.
The irony of Mr pink working for tips 😂
Yeah John Travoltas character is related to Michael Madsens character in Reservoir Dogs, both named Vega. Its the same universe
14:59 fore shadowing ' kill bil '
I love how blase Vincent is about shooting Marvin in the face. Cracks me up every time.
The car went over a bump.
That whole character was a mess 😭 loved it tho
Marcellus was going to get breakfast for them. He thought that Butch was Marcellus with his breakfast.
They should have just stole Butchs pop tarts 😂
woop! you recognized mr. pink - that's one of the more famously subtle cameos :D most people miss it!
also, kudos for catching the heroin-bag-from-the-coat detail also - most people miss that too, they think she just over-snorted her own coke, or something - good eye for detail!
Oh yeah teddie is a master at recognizing voices and faces 😂 thanks for watching!
"I'm glad Marvin's ok"
😃 😂
There are time lines that are not in sync. When Vincent got shot in Butch’s apartment, that took place after the Diner scene at the end. Vincent was alone because Jules had already left the life. It’s a great movie. And the non linear story telling is an homage to other directors. Keep doing the QT filmography.
The nonlinear storytelling is original, and it's not an homage to anyone. Nobody ever did it before, and only a handful did it since.
@@annaclarafenyo8185 I would refer you to The Killing by Stanley Kubrick and Rashomon by Akira Kurosawa for two examples.
the reason ppl don’t rob diners is bc you don’t know who’s eating there. you can stake out a bank and a liquor store but anybody w a gun and any hardened goon can be eating at a diner
The major plot hole is that opiate addicts are always constipated, but Vincent is taking non-stop shits.
Fun fact: The bible verse Jules recites is the same verse on Nick Fury's head stone in Winter Soldier
Really!? Now I have to go back and look at that 😂
Heroin users try and fail to poop everywhere. Uppers and downers should not be confused.
14:41 The "Fox Force Five" premise from Mia's pilot later became the "Deadly Viper Assassination Squad" in Kill Bill.
Oooo we'll keep that in mind when we get around to kill bill! Thanks for the info 🔥
Great reaction. His NEXT movie, "Jackie Brown", oh man, I really think you're going to like that one. That's the Tarantino movie I return to the most. Pam Grier, Samuel Jackson in an even great performance than in this one, Robert Frickin' De Niro, Michael Keaton, Chris Tucker....... Damn good movie. "Jackie Brown". We need WAY more reactions to that one as well so please please please do not sleep on that one! I love that you're doing them in order, definitely don't skip "Jackie Brown".
Teddie still needs to see Jackie brown for sure! I seen it once a long time ago. It's definitely on the list for us 🔥
@@byrdmanteddie Woo hoo! No pressure, no worries. You guys are great, a really great reacting team and it's a real pleasure to revist a movie with you. See you on the next one! :D
FYI Cellular phones signals when this movie was released were still analog and not digital/encrypted. Anybody with a scanner could listen in on the conversations. It wasn't that hard at all because they sold the scanners so people could listen to weather, police scanners, walkie talkies, etc. and they also picked up cellular phones.
7:46- 666 is the devil's number. The case has Marcellas' soul in it. Explains the scar on the back of his head.
Vincent didn’t even have the safety of the gun on I mean what was Marvin going to do he was scared out of his mind
Girl, you cracked me up... "seems like a hobby" bwahahah
LMAO That scene was a mess 😭
I think Vincent felt safe leaving the gun on the counter because Marcellus was there when he went into the bathroom or he though he'd be right back. It was careless and it was sad that he died. But if he'd have given up the life like Jules, he would not have been there. So Jules may have been on to something.
Yeah, when you put the timeline in order he definitely should have been out! Jules saw the BS coming 😂
Jerry Seinfeld just came out with guns blazing from the bathroom..😂😂
His next comedy bit. "I mean, whats the deal with hitmen" 😂
@@byrdmanteddie 🤣🤣 but we know that's not gonna happen now.
A lot of us thought the briefcase was the one from reservoir dogs. Some thought it was Marcelas soul and thats why he has a band-aid on ths back of hia head, don't know how they got that theory.
Another rumor/theory is that it was a gold Oscar award.
Next up for Tarantino is 'Jackie Brown' that came out a few years later which I'm sure you'll enjoy. Samuel L Jackson said it's his favorite one. He also stars in it and does another excellent job. De Niro is in it as well.
Damn good movie. As if Samuel Jackson couldn't get any better than he was in "Pulp Fiction". What a performance. De Niro too, possibly my favorite supporting performance he's ever done (unless you count "Goodfellas" as a supporting role, which in a way it was). (He was great as Capone too. He's always great! lol) But he's so brilliantly understated in "Jackie Brown", it's almost an acting lesson. Absolutely "Jackie Brown".
Hells yea, great flick.
I 3rd jackie brown!✌
It's going on the list. Thanks! 🔥
@@byrdmanteddie Nice! 👍
Very fun reaction video!! You guys are great. I gotta watch Pulp Fiction again soon! Much love 👊🥂💖
We appreciate you! Thanks for hanging out with us 💙 This movie was INSANE lol
Some points of interest:
- Mia’s story about the pilot she did and how she was supposed to tell a bad joke at the end of each episode is an Easter egg reference to Travolta’s early career starring in Welcome Back Kotter in which Kotter’s wife Julie would end each episode by telling a lame joke.
- You’ll see women’s dirty feet scattered through several of Taranino’s movies as one of his trademarks.
- I was disappointed you guys faulted Butch for double crossing Marcellus. This is a common movie mechanism in most boxing movies. A boxer finally gets his chance at the championship yet a gangster forces him to take a fall for a bit of money. If Butch declines he will be taken out at some point. It’s not a handshake deal of honor. Butch did the right thing in taking Marcellus’ money, betting on himself, winning the belt and running as the consequence would be the same as not taking the deal, death. Might as well grab the brass ring.
Enjoy this rabbit hole as his movies are great, my favorites being the two you’ve already watched in addition to Jackie Brown, Django Unchained and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
That's a fair point about butch. I think it was the cocky attitude that made us not like butch at first. Mainly in the phone booth talking about killing the other fighter. He did what he had to do to protect himself from marcellus tho looking back on it.
Enjoyed your reaction.👍 Awesome movie.
It was a way better movie than we expected! Thanks for watching
HAHAHAHa, Jack Rabbit Slim wasn't a random place - it was a theme restaurant with people playing characters/real people from the 50's & 60's...
So was this a real place? It looked cooler the more we saw lol. We'd totally go to a place like that 🔥
I think you also should react to "True romance" from 1993. It was written by Tarantino but directed the same way as his. It has the same kind of dialogues and situations as Pulp fiction and the casting is stellar like you won't believe it :)
And by the way, Travolta's character is Mr Blonde's brother ;)
YES!!! True Romance is one of my all time favorite movies!
Yes, thank you! The Vega brothers.
I saw this on opening night in 1994. This was the biggest shock value I ever experienced at the movies. The dialogue. the drug abuse, the violence, and that one seen that goes without saying.
So, all the dance moves between Mia and Vincent were all 50's dances...prior to the success of this movie, John Travolta was absolutely dead in Hollywood - he couldn't get a dog food commercial if he tried...after this movie, boom he was the hottest thing in Hollywood
Love to see it 🔥

Great reaction! I just wish you adnt cut out the whole Bonnie Situation - im always interested to see who finds that scene (you know the one) funny, who finds it offensive, or just is in shock, lol. It always gets such varied reactions.
-The didn't win the contest. If you listen closely, when Butch is creeping by the apartment houses alley to get back to his, you hear a radio in the background that talks about Jackrabbit Slims and the trophy was stolen and the winners beaten up.
-Tarantino has a foot fetish, sooooo, every movie he does, you'll see some women's feet...
-Vincent got killed AFTER Jules retired. Marcellus was the other one there but left to go get food.
-Heroin causes constipation. That's why Vincent always was in the bathroom...
-In classic Tarantino style, it is shot out of order. It would be a crappy movie if the main characters all were gone by the end of the first act.
-"I'm glad Marvin's ok...." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
-The briefcase is just a McGuffin. It has no significance to the plot but to move it along..
The book Vincent was reading in the crater was a "pulpy" novel called "Modesty Blaise" by Peter O'Donnell. A story like "Fox Force 5" features a female spy with many different talents. It was also made into a movie...

Yes! We love him in the marvel movies 🔥 and it's ok. Your English is actually pretty good!
I saw this in the theater the day it came out. Right after the scene young "Butch" getting the watch the film at the theater broke. Yes, they used real 35mm film back then. So anyways after about 15 minutes the movie starts back up and the next scene is of Butch at the apartment shooting Vincent. I was convinced that the projectionist had screwed up the film reels and put the last reel on instead of the third reel. I went the next day to the early showing and then realized how the timeline was set up. This movie should have won an Oscar, unfortunately the Academy went with the feel good "Forrest Gump" for best picture. I also think "Shawshank Redemption" from the same year was more worthy than "Forrest Gump". I do like "Gump", however I feel it's a bit to contrived.
Lol I would have been super confused too. The timeline is one of the best parts! Also sounds like a great year for movies 🔥 I love forest gump

It was Marcello's gun in the apartment, he was on a coffee-run.
Really!? That's actually funnier 😂 Of course he would want to go kill butch himself.
And Jules had quit by that point, which is why Marcellus was there with Vincent instead of his partner.

ACCORDING TO TARINTINO THE VEGAS ARE BROTHERS
You guys must watch True Romance. written by Tarantino but he couldn't make both so he choose to make Reservoir Dogs and Tony Scott made True Romance.
I think that was his best dialogue, and one hell of a cast. Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken in the same scene with one of the most classic speeches ever, and Gary Oldman as pure evil in a bathrobe.
