I can't believe there's no Bohrok. They had the weird neck stretching thing, but there was also the ball form thing. It's so addicting to transform them back and forth, roll them around, throw them around, kick them around. Basically anything you could do with a ball. And if you kept the canister, you could suspend them inside it as if they were sleeping. The entirety of a Bohrok is play functionality. Also their stumpy little body proportions are adorable.
I think the Rhotuka spinner deserved to be on this list, I know it wasn't very unique and difficult to use when attached to a set but it was the longest ranged launcher (by a long way) and just looked and sounded very cool. perhaps it could've made number 11 :)
I'm glad to see Pewku getting the spotlight she rightfully deserve. All too often I see her getting shafted when people talk about great action features. Personally, I would've placed the Axalara T9 on number one. its appearance and functions intermix flawlessly, creating one hell of a set!
I did that too in my earlier models...but LEGO scrapped the idea and said "You know what? Possibility is the key to all this...and Jetpacks. Kids love jetpacks!"
+Santi T Rhotuka are my personal favourite, not for accuracy nor looks, but it's super fun! Watching it go or launching it is oddly satisfying. It could be used for mocing, and some interesting things could be built with them.
+The Actual Scoutbird And they could be a pain in the butt to even launch sometimes. I would let my nephew play with my 2005 launchers and while he loved the kanoka disks, he had trouble pulling the rip cord on the rhotuka's with enough force to get them going, and even when I pulled it for him, often times the spinner would get stuck on the launcher, which made me have to do this awkward flip motion with the toy to get it flying. Of course, by that time, the spinner had lost most of it's energy so the flight was less than spectacular... It got to the point where he would just play with the kanokas and not even ask about the rhotukas.
Belicure Yeah. Bionicle may not have been popular with kids as much as something like Star Wars, Transformers, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Thomas the Tank Engine, Pokémon, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but it still was something of its own caliber.

My favourite launchers were disk launchers because of the actual ammunition. The disks were really cool and also didn’t fly off and get lost instantly.
I never got why people liked the gear functions. Yes I was with Bionicle from the beginning but I never liked the gears. I... Tolerate the gears in the new sets as you can still put them into poses. I just wish they put the gears in the weapons instead.
+Malcom Alexander Agreed 100%. I started Bionicle from the very first generation toa mata, and I've only been happier as the years went by to see more and more articulation in sets (thank god for the rahkshi for introducing bendable knees!). I wasn't part of the internet fandom in 2006 so I had no idea until recently that the "inika build" got so much flack. But I'll take fully pose-able inika build over shoulder-locked toa metru "function" any day.
"This is Ven, and I thank you all for watching this garbage." I like your style Venom. I know you already have the MOC Spotlights, but more Top Tens by you like this would be fantastic.
+Santi T Okay so yeah they may have gotten lost easily and were stupidly inaccurate and the ripcord looked ridiculous on them, but they were FRICKEN AWESOME
"And the giant Hordika arms had it too but that kinda sucked but we'll ignore that"-Ven 2015"And I thank you for watching this garbage"-....Ven....2015
Very nice list Ven! It's pretty thorough but you forgot to mention some information on the Tarakava. It's punching function did not originate in bionicle, but rather the Technic Competition/Cyberslam theme from 1998. Set 8257 Cyber Strikers has the same concept of using a linkage system to hit the other robot.
I really like the whole idea of having a gear function and being able to knock of the masks of other figures, but the way the new sets are built it just doesn't feel right... Yes the gears have more friction for better posability, but the arms themselves aren't as 'solid'/strong. Because of the CCBS system the arm and ARMor (lol) tend to wobble a lot while moving the arm and hitting things. I think they should make better, more sturdier builds for many body parts, they'll loosen up eventually, but I think sturdy arms are really important to have in a set with a play function based around knocking other figures' masks of.
The spinners from the vidorahk and toa is my favorite. Me and the neighbors used play with them and see how high or far we could launch them it was fun.
My favorite has to be the Tarakava. I have one and using the punching function is so satisfying to me. It is only satisfying when you don´t hit anything because you need the full range of motion. hitting things.
Oh shit, I finally realize why the Manas were so hyped up in the novels, since seeing them in books, I thought they would be cannon-fodder for the Toas, in both looks and lore. But meh, have to sell those super-expensive sets somehow...
The Toa Hordika had somewhat of a gear function. I would have also included: Thornax launcher: Included in the Glatorian, Glatorian legends, and some Titans of 2009. Similar to Zamor spheres and Midak sky blasters, except these balls were soft and rubbery, making them jokingly bounce off of enemies. It worked so good Lego even made a game out of it. Also regular Zamor spheres fit in it too, and Lego used that in other themes. Nyrah ghost blasters: Included in the Mistika. These things shot a cool looking rubber ''bullet'' using the power of air. They were easy to fire and shot quite far. Only flaw was the thin rubber on the sides of the ''bullets'' could easily bend and crease. Rhotuka spinners: Included in Toa Hordika, Visorak, polybags of 2006 and Titans of 2005. Man, these things worked well. You would insert the ripcord, load the Rhotuka, and yank it out as fast as you can. Then the design acted as a mini helicopter and would fly across the room. These probably hold the record for farthest Bionicle projectile. They also had a code on the side for Bionicle.com (forgot what it unlocked) Cordak blaster: Included in the Toa Mahri, Hydraxon and Maxilos+Spinax. 3 Words: Torpedo. Machine. Gun. 6 Barrel stud shooter: included in the Element protectors, Skull warrior and In Mask maker vs Skull Grinder. the 3rd form of Lego's stud shooter, this time with 6 barrels. Twist the axle that is built into the shooter, and 1 by 1 each stud will be sent flying in a circle formation. Only problem was the ammunition was very small and shot far, making it difficult to find if you shot too far. Mask ripping: Included in all sets in the skeleton wave. This function used 3 different forms, and both could easily grasp hold of masks and yank them off of the heads. the 1st piece was a long sword with a small hook. the 2nd was a triangular blade with a bigger hook, and was flexible to grab different types of masks. the 3rd was in skull slicer, and was a claw on a chain that could grab on to masks. Flaw was you had to manually attatch the claw and then yank it back. Glow in the dark elements: included in too many sets to count. Expose certain armour pieces to light, then put in the dark and they will glow. Flaw was some types of glowing pieces did not glow well, such as the Piraka teeth.
The Aura Tree But these were like Zamor spheres that you could shoot at your friend (Even though it STILL says you shouldn't) and they would bounce off and not hurt. It worked so well with the original Zamor spheres, that Lego brought it into several other themes and Zamor spheres became a permanent element. (meaning not discontinued)
I agree with your choice for the tarakava punching function as number two, another thing their function has over the muaka and kane-ra lunge since, speaking from personal experience,it's easier to "compres"the tarakava function in a smaller creation
Okay, so....what WAS the issue with the squid launder? That happens to be the part of the line where I dropped out from various things, so I never have even held one.
I've been watching TTV for a while and Ven did a good list but to be honest, his voice sounds monotone in my opinion. I appreciate his work nonetheless :)
How do you only swing 1 arm with S-Basher? Yes you can slightly turn the "button-box" to the sides, but both arms would still "bash" when you push the button.
+DigitalHeliumJumper Only one arm goes forward. Whether the other one goes backwards or not really doesn't matter. Or, at least, not in these people's eyes.

What was his name, that guy with the spider? I remember getting him for my birthday and being really young when I was trying to put it together. Took me almost an entire day but I eventually figured it out... I miss these kinds of... Toys? Idk if I'd call them that considering what people have done with em.
Oh my god the Axalara! That was my favourite set ever, until I decided to tear it apart for reasons even I don't remember. I need to reassemble that shit. Anyone who has one in complete condition, tell me, how well do 2015 sets fit into it?
My favorite function is the Piraka's flip wepons
I can't believe there's no Bohrok.
They had the weird neck stretching thing, but there was also the ball form thing. It's so addicting to transform them back and forth, roll them around, throw them around, kick them around. Basically anything you could do with a ball. And if you kept the canister, you could suspend them inside it as if they were sleeping.
The entirety of a Bohrok is play functionality. Also their stumpy little body proportions are adorable.
also you can push on their eyes to launch their freaky little facehugger brains
Axalara T9, aaah I remember getting that on Christmas, and spending all day and morning of Boxing day building it XD
I think the Rhotuka spinner deserved to be on this list, I know it wasn't very unique and difficult to use when attached to a set but it was the longest ranged launcher (by a long way) and just looked and sounded very cool. perhaps it could've made number 11 :)

Pewku may have been the first Lego set to have moving legs as it rolled. But the Hive Crawler from Galaxy Squad perfected it.

It feels sad watching this after bonkle's cancellation
Belicure Yeah. Bionicle may not have been popular with kids as much as something like Star Wars, Transformers, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Thomas the Tank Engine, Pokémon, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but it still was something of its own caliber.

Ven always sounds like he does not give two craps...it's actually entertaining
William Furno
He's probably pretty heavily inspired by cr1tikal.
I love Ven's random tangents and inflections in this one :D
Personally I'm a fan of polynomials, but hey, whatever function floats your boat. High quality video by the way, as usual.
6:07 I had the Axalara T-9. I loved it sooooooo much! plus it looked like a freaking space-age blaster!
I can motorize it
It looks like a B I G A X L E
nothing better than the rothuka spinners, those were amazing.
Okay, so....what WAS the issue with the squid launder? That happens to be the part of the line where I dropped out from various things, so I never have even held one.
How about the upcoming set lighting beasts tail thing? Well I guess it isn't out yet
“That opens the doors to more interesting functions to be seen in the coming years of Bionicle.” Oh the irony in that statement is palpable
Seems like someone's never used one of Pohatu's squid launchers. Just make sure you turn off the squid safety.
Optimist Prime what does that even mean?
are there any mocs with functions?
Where's the sting feature of the Nui Jaga? That was pretty badass.
I actually had the Skopio. It was amazing to build.
My fav are the gear functions but where's the rhotuka those launchers were a blast! They are my second fav
Ven is the best
Yes! Thanks to the alien symbiotic, Eddie Brock is Immortal!
I've been watching TTV for a while and Ven did a good list but to be honest, his voice sounds monotone in my opinion. I appreciate his work nonetheless :)

U built it wrong then
+DigitalHeliumJumper Only one arm goes forward.
Whether the other one goes backwards or not really doesn't matter.
Or, at least, not in these people's eyes.
The milk sky blaster snuck into the lego 2010 world racers
Oops midak stupid spelling check
I remember seeing number five in a move a long time ago and I always wanted it sooo bad
I think he should have said something about how the toa metru have angled gear functions. IDK, it might be because of my sweet spot for them...
I really wish you had the gears at 10 just so you could make the kicking off part a pun about Pohatu.
“Technical wizardry not seen since Pewku” 😂
Storm Beat's tail should have been here. That one is great
Seeing as this was released before the wave 1 G2 sets were sold, they should have at least waited.
I'm still saddened that the Nui-Jaga's tail function is never listed anywhere.
Personally, I HATE the Axalara T9's spinning knobs. They placed a HUGE amount of stress on the axles they are connected on, and were overall extremely clumsy. Not to mention that the fold out stand seemed inadequate and easily-deformed when trying to support the heavy aircraft.

Venom the skopio is just making people see me Rollin😎
This video can summarized by simply saying, the squid launcher sucks koli balls, the gear function is the best, and everything else is just ok.
BONKLE.
Oh my god the Axalara! That was my favourite set ever, until I decided to tear it apart for reasons even I don't remember. I need to reassemble that shit. Anyone who has one in complete condition, tell me, how well do 2015 sets fit into it?
I would imagine they would fit just fine (of course, I could be wrong. I don't have the set) anyway, you can still find instructions online
What’s the music used
the functions is honestly the complex aspect of a bionicle build
i was expecting a troll at number one and venom wws gonns say skull scorpio or something like that
I spent at least 50-60$ on the Manas including the motor.
Hey TTV what do you think of decool?
Yup they are repackaging lego sets bionicles mostly and they call the star soliders just wtf china
I wish that lego could sue them
+memeteam Ryans comment channel It's a shame :(
Hail Denmark!
the alexara t9 is bae its soooo cooool!!!
2:30 Or trying to make a Shia Le'Bouf parody out of him. Set Skull Basher's arms just right and you'll know what I mean.
number one: gadunka's tongue.
you should do a top 10 bionicle commercials video
Take a drink every time they mention krekka's gears or disc
Dehydrate
I saw a scopio XV1 on ebay for 101$
Why werent the Bohrok here? they had three functions, they could lunge, transform, and launch krana in two different ways.
My favorite function is phantoka pohatu's arms he's like a toa v-22
I have the number 4 set !
How can you not like Squid launchers?? They're by far my favorite out of all of them.
Davarman they are kinda cute
