  • I've been wanting to change the look of my car for a while now and I've finally made the first step in that direction: A new set of wheels!
    My new wheels are the BC Forged KL11 in my 19" Widepants fitment with the Brushed Dark Black finish. They're the same widths, diameters, and offsets as my current BC Forged RZ05 wheels, but with a slightly different style and a different finish.
    I am NOT sponsored by BC Forged. The only compensation I get in regard to their products is from actual sales on my Redpants website. So, if you'd like to support Redpants, please check out my online store on www.Redpants.lol for more information about wheels and to order a set of your own!

    Heads up for anyone watching this video within a week or two of me uploading it: BC Forged have recently announced a modest price increase. In preparation for that, I've redone prices to reflect the higher $200 per set pricing by offering a $200 discount off current pricing. Their new prices will go into effect on April 1, 2021 - at which point my sale will end and you'll see a $400 price increase per set of wheels compared to my sale price. So if you're on the fence about getting a set, now's a good time!

    Is going to look great... I love those Aluminum lug-nuts, got a set from you last year.

    You've got an a good eye on combining colors. Lot of guys are handicapped in this area, combining hyped colors with colors that don't work together.
    I have factory sport pack forged wheels on my 2010 DB9. And they are super light and strong, based on my experience.

    A timely find - I'm thinking of LE72 2-piece wheels for my car. Finding an endorsement of BC Forged like this is golden.

    I recently swapped the OE 19" wheels with OE Bridgestones on my 2006 Vantage for forged 20" (from the 007 special edition) with 255 and 299 size Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. Also swapped the steel wheel nuts for alloy. What a night and day difference! Supple, quiet, super grippy. It has transformed the car. I also replaced a;ll the wishbones with Powerflex bushes and Nitron "Road" dampers. Unbelieveable transformation! David Appleby Engineering in the UK did the wishbones and dampers, I can't reccomend them highly enough...

      BC Forged is raising their pricing soon by a couple hundred dollars per set. Not a huge amount, but it still adds up.

    Awesome looking wheels. Interested to see which colour wrap you go for...your carbon parts should show better in a different colour.....was very fond of my baby blue (flugplatz) wrap.

      I always love a blue Aston but it just wouldn't jive with the red theme I've got going on with everything. I loved the red V8V I had, which was Rosso Corsa, but that color needs brightwork and I'm not undoing all that in my grey car 😅

    great video Rich! Can you tell us the weight of the "Redpants" Fitment BC Forged wheels? And do you know which of the BC wheel designs is the lightest by any chance? Cheers

    • @Redpantslol
      @Redpantslol  3 роки тому +1

      The weights vary by style, so I don't have a definite answer beyond this:
      The RT50 wheels (the silver 5-spoke set seen throughout the video) are the 19" Redpants fitment. My old notes say they weigh about 19.6 lbs less than the OEM 7-spokes but that was using Tire Rack weights for the tires I had on them. That makes them about a pound lighter as a set than the KL11 wheels I just got, which isn't much but I think the RT50 is likely a heavier design due to the spoke thickness.

    I need to get back into a Vantage. The pain from last time has faded enough now I think.

    Thanks Richard. I have read that V12 wheels won't fit in V8 especially at the rear because they will rub against the liners and the fuel pipe. Are you sure 11 inch wide wheels are OK?

    • @Redpantslol
      @Redpantslol  3 роки тому +1

      The offsets and tire sizes I use don't rub, even with lowered suspension and during track days.

    You too can acquire the genuine set of redpants used “track patina” 5 spokes seen in this video. That exact set is seeking a forever home. Really . . . They just make me sad not on a car sitting in my garage

    I was literally deciding between these two wheels. They look similar but I'm leaning towards the KL11. Which one would you pick if you have one choice ?

    • @Redpantslol
      @Redpantslol  3 роки тому

      I've had the RZ05 wheels for a few years now and love them, and I think they're my best seller for styles. I wanted to change things up, though, so I'm going with this new set. I think I like the KL11 a bit more because of the sharper lines, if I had to pick between the two.

      @@Redpantslol I actually decided to go with the RZ05 because I heard it provides more concave. Now just patiently waiting for my order to come!!! Got the dark brushed black color, I think it will match well with my carbon fiber pieces :)

    I love the finish on your new wheels, but I've seen it vary so much. Sometimes it's almost silver, sometimes like yours it's almost black. I'm unsure if it's just lighting and photography or BC really do vary their finish control a fair bit.

    • @Redpantslol
      @Redpantslol  2 роки тому +1

      The finishes are very consistent, but this finish in particular changes a lot depending on the lighting because it's translucent. That's why I tried to show the wheels from different angles and in different lighting conditions (inside vs outside, panning the camera around). I also work with my customers to send them pictures and videos of specific finishes they're interested in, and have samples I can lend to them so they can see the finishes in person themselves.

  • @integra8502

    I was never a fan of black wheels because they kind of disappear (No detail)
    ....Do these (Translucant Black) "dissapear" Less than pure black ?

    • @Redpantslol
      @Redpantslol  2 роки тому

      The wheels themselves show their own detail better, but they have less contrast against the paint of the car. The latter bothers me, but it wasn't as much of a concern because I'm already planning to get the car wrapped so the current paint color won't matter.
