One of the finest exponents of Patiala Gharana, Kaushiki Chakraborty was a star performer at the maiden Bengal Classical Music Festival, held in Dhaka in 2012. The artist showcased her mastery in Raag Basant Mukhari and rounded off the scintillating performance with the well-known song ‘Rangi Sari Gulabi’. She was brilliantly accompanied in the tabla by virtuoso Pt Yogesh Samsi.

Kaushiki is so much humble person. Very down to earth.
One of my best achievements in whole life to be present there in that night of full moon. I can't describe the environment she created. add ustad rashid and others. I couldn’t sleep well several nights after this surreal show.

বেশীরভাগ মানুষই এ ধরনের উচ্চাঙ্গ সঙ্গীত শুনে কিছুই বুঝেনা। আপনি এই গানে এতটাই মুগ্ধ হয়েছিলেন যে সেই রেশে বেশ কয়েকটা বিনিদ্র রজনী কাটিয়েছেন। আপনারা যারা এ ধরনের গান বুঝেন তারা, যারা বুঝে না তাদের জন্যে বিষয়টা সহজ করে একটু ব্যাখ্যা করবেন ?
@@istiaque-ahmed গোটা বিষয়টাই একটি শিল্প। এবার পার্টিকুলার শাস্ত্রীয় সংগীতকেই উচ্চাঙ্গ বা ক্লাসিক কেন বলা হয়! কারণ সঙ্গীতের এই বিভাগে সুরের এবং তালের মাধুর্য্য অন্য বিভাগের থেকে বেশি, বিষয়টি কঠিন এবং মোস্ট importantly আধ্যাত্বিক। এই যে গান গাওয়া হয়, এখানে বারোটি স্বর আছে, অর্থাৎ বারোটি শব্দের ব্যবহার করে এই যত রকমের গান বাজনা সৃষ্টি সারা পৃথিবীতে। এই বারোটি স্বরের বিভিন্ন রকম কম্বিনেশন করে রাগ রাগিনী'র সৃষ্টি হয়। শাস্ত্রীয় সঙ্গীত অর্থেই রাগভিত্তিক, রাগ অর্থাৎ পার্টিকুলার ওই কিছু স্বরের কম্বিনেশন করে করে গঠিত একটা ছাঁচ, তার বাইরে হয়ে গেলে উইকেট পড়ে গেল। যেমন দশটা সংখ্যা দিয়ে কোটি কোটি ফোন নম্বর তৈরি হয়। একটা নম্বর এদিক ওদিক হলে আর সঠিক জনকে পাবেন না, তেমনই ভুল স্বর লাগলে রাগভ্রষ্ট হয়ে যাবে। এবার ওই নির্ধারিত পরিসরের ভিতর থেকে সমস্ত তাল, লয়, সুর, উচ্চারণ ইত্যাদি অসংখ্য বিষয়কে খেয়াল রেখে কতো গভীর মায়াজাল সৃষ্টি করতে পারছেন, কত ঈশ্বরিকভাবে সুর সৃষ্টি করতে পারছেন, সেটারই একরকম খেলা চলে। এই খেলা নেশার মতো, একবার বুঝে গেলে আর কোনোদিন কেউ ছাড়াতে পারবে না, আপনি চাইবেনও না। আর মজার বিষয় হলো, একে জানার তিনটি মাধ্যম, শোনা, রেওয়াজ এবং আরো জানার প্রচেষ্টা। ভালো থাকুন।

What can I say! I'm Greek and a long time lover of Indian music (as a lot of our music comes from it). Every time I hear Caushiki I just bow in respect for her talent and hard work - because talent alone cannot produce such great performance - she is magical!!!!

At 2014 Dover lane conference, Kaushiki sang the same raaga, Basant Mukhari (at around 4am in the morning) and Rangi Saari. On request, she ended with a bhajan, Jal mein kumbh.
That was my 1st time listening to her live..... And one more striking similarity is she was wearing the same earring along with a pink saree😇
That was first ever in my life that I drank the nectar of Kaushiki's enchanting sweet notes and it's also the world's largest classical music fest attending all night every day.Ever since that event I have always enjoyed her unique recital being immersed in the sea of delight and peace.Pronam to the great maestro from Dhaka

And yes Kaushiki used to sing detailed vilambit khayal till 2012-13. But now a days she winds it up within 40-45 mins. That too 30 mins is just usual gimmicks. This is the proof that before she used to take off to madhyalaya at least after 30 mins. This performance is really nice being old one. Appreciate and hope that she presents detailed unfolding of a raga in Vilambit laya.
I agree. Nowadays her style of vistar and taan have changed a lot. I miss her raw style when she was around 16 singing Kedar..... It was more pristine back then.
That's not true. I have heard her live twice in the last two years and on both occassions she sang a 1 hour bada khyal and did not go to madhyalay until the half an hour mark at the very least. You just need to find the recordings.

Kaushiki chakrabarty Ji's voice is too much flexible that she can decorate raag in three saptaks ; surely it is because her practice and all her efforts that are appreciable. Yogesh Samsi ji, no doubt he is really great tabla player and yet, harmonium player played harmonium outstandingly.
She is Smt. Rupashree Bhattacharya one of the gems in Harmonium. She learnt too from Acharya Sanjay Chakraborty ji, uncle of Kaushiki ji

Kaushiki is a very gifted Hindustani Classical artist! Amazing range and powerful voice. She is lucky to be the daughter of a legendary Hindustani Classical maestro Padmabhushan Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty and thanks to this, Kaushiki has got opportunities at a very young age to perform at various prestigious events. Accompaniment on Tabla was by a legend Pt Yogesh Samsi and on the harmonium by the renowned Smt Rupasree Bhattacharya, an accomplished singer herself. What a musical treat this video is! Wah! Mazaa aagaya!

She sang with great skill and technique which she learnt from her father. This is first time I listening her concert without any interference by her towards quality of audio arrangements. Now-a-days she has been habitual in this regard which is very irritating. She should have done audition test of the audio equipments.
