I got the chance to visit the grand museum last year and lemme tell you it's an experience of it's own, totally mind blowing. I would pick this museum over the pyramids plateau. This year more pieces and antiquities were added and it's very very well built. I couldn't recommend it enough to anyone who is in the country. But if you're picking one thing to visit, it has to be the GEM.

I have blonde hair as well. And blue eyes. I have considered going to Arabian areas, and the first thing that I thought that I might want to do is buy some large, dark shades, full hair coverings, and local dress. It's an easy remedy to not only protect one's self, but to be respectful of the culture whilst trying to immerse one's self. Hopefully it has been a lesson learned for next time.
@bayernlover1 Of course no one HAS to cover their hair. But given how many times she mentioned how inconvenient it was for her, it doesn't seem like a good idea to do so to you? The last thing I want to do as a foreigner is to stick out like a sore thumb. Some people like the attention. Her constant complaining about it leads me to believe she didn't necessarily want the attention. It's easily remedied.
1:10 I kind of naturally assumed this. And then as I started watching videos about females traveling to Egypt all of the positive “I felt safe here” were from women who have brown hair and olive features, even if Caucasian. Now you’re confirming it. I think it’s like us in the west if we see a tall, dark, attractive Italian man. It’s not the everyday.
that's partly why i felt I needed to share this story honestly 😅i didn't see this commentary really discussed!! not a problem whatsoever, just wasn't what I expected!
Do you happen to know if you can just walk up to the airport and buy a ticket on the spot to Luxor from Cairo and vice versa? I have looked at booking online but some of the websites are kind of sketchy? We are kind of visiting with no plans so I also wasn’t sure when we would even fly, it would be nice to be able to buy them whenever we do decide to head to Luxor. Thanks for the video.
I love Cairo / Egypt, but it’s not for me because I prefer calmness and fresh, clear air. You should try the Red Sea region of Egypt-it’s a beautiful resort area. However, I’d recommend Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia before Egypt/Cairo for a more relaxed experience. That said, none of them can match Egypt’s abundance of historical sites.
I loveddd Jordan, i went many years ago and would love to go back!! Morocco and Tunisia are both high on my list as well :) Thank you for sharing your advice I love hearing different perspectives!
Plz also go to new areas like Zayed Tagamo Alamain New Capital Egypt and all its cities are a mix of old and new we have built more than 12 new cities extensions to existing cities go to Siwa to Fayoum to St Catherine to Marsa Allam to Taba to Aswan to Luxor to Alexandria
What traffic laws???😂 In Cairo it seemed like get in where you fit in. My nerves were shot riding around the city. We went to the Grand Egyptian museum last year and it was fabulous. We had not scheduled enough time so we were practically running through it to hit the highlights. I agree with you re the prayer calls and the mosques, as the sun sets, with the outline of the minarets in the sky. Beautiful! Our trip included Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and a Nubian village. We had guides from the time we arrived to our departure. Turn-offs: the aggressive stalker-ish street vendors. I had to get kinda sideways with the ones who wouldn't leave me alone after saying "No, thank you" in Arabic several times. 2) the tipping scene. If anyone *offers* to do ANYTHING for you, you'd better tip them or you'll get loudly cussed out 😂. There are random men at the tourist sites who will "offer", more like demand, to take a picture for you. They get a tip. I practically had to wrestle my suitcase away from a man insisting on "helping" me with it. I was tipped out. 3) they will accept US currency but only if it is the "new" US dollar bills. It's to avoid counterfeit so my old bills were no good. It's something I wish I had known ahead of time. All that being said, Egypt is an awe-inspiring country and I hope to return there one day 🇪🇬

I don’t think you were getting comments and looks because of your hair color. I’m Egyptian and color my hair light blonde (lighter than yours) and I don’t get comments and I know so many other Egyptian women who color their hair blonde as well.
oh wow i guess there must have been other factors at play at well!! right as I landed at the airport a female security guard did ask me if my hair color was natural and how beautiful it was 😅so i assumed a lot of it was due to the hair but there had to be more to it!! thank you for sharing your experience, i trust you more than me since it is your beautiful country ❣
I'm glad you found this video before you go!! I had no clue/warning going in😅that's why i made this! i wouldn't worry but i'd certainly encourage you to be wary! just be prepared for some comments and attention
Don't worry, how you carry yourself is what matters. There are blond Egyptians, no one asks to take pictures with them. Just don't allow a stranger to invade your personal space, and you will be fine.
I think this only happens around the pyramids area, as some locals go there to take photos with the tourists. You can book a guide for a day, it’s quite affordable, or just say no thank you and walk.
It seems that being blonde takes up a large part of your explanation of the visit. Egypt has many times what you presented, and consecutive months are not enough for you to see Egypt. You have only seen the outer shell. What about the level of pollution in major European cities?
no need to apologize - it was a really beautiful experience overall and I'm so glad I got to see even a small piece of your country!! I hope to come back some day :)
