If you mount that bleeder above the slave cylinder and leave the bleeder screw cracked, you can pull the lever, hold until all bubbles rise in tube, then release lever. It will only suck fluid back in.
great video ,i watched this as i replaced mine with the oberon today, clutch now feels smooth and solid, just need to put in engine oil tomorrow and go for a spin!
Nice, helpful as my NEW... Husky just had that happening and I'm gonna have to start by fixing it instead of riding (no I'm not bitter, love it). Reading the history of everyone getting this problem from poor quality I'm baffled how they don't fix it.
Installed mine last night and replaced my engine oil today, when I let the bike idle for a few minutes oil is dripping from the bottom of the slave cylinder, would this be,a bad seal?
It's possible. Clean it up so it's really clean in that area then let it sit for a bit so you can try dermine where it's coming from. some talk/chalk might help identify it. If it's coming from the slave then pop it off, clean the surface and pop it back on with a little bit of oil on the seal to help it. You could buy another for the few $/£ it'll cost. make sure you torque it to spec too!
@@Twedymoto hey man thanks for the reply,i removed the slave and sure it was split because i didnt oil it first before i put it in. just installed a new one yesterday and everything is running great! :) can i ask you where you got your blue oil drain bolt?
Hey man mine has just went yesterday ,the reservoir was pretty much empty so refilled and bled the line and it was all good but next morning empty against, where is the leaking brake fluid going?? As it's not on the floor
Sounds like there's a slight hole in the seal. The fluid will be going into your engine oil. Best change your oil when you fix/replace the clutch slave!
@@Twedymoto Thanks for the reply,I went to my local motorcycle dealer today who specialize in motocross told me that it shouldn't go into my engine oil. Some people say it will and others swear that it can't.
No problem, thanks for watching! I'm not entirely sure to be honest. I think it's still an issue as the slave has been revised but i think it's still happening. I'm not as active on the facebook groups as i used to be so check 701 worldwide on facebook. 👍
@@GONE_LIKE_JOHN nice one. If you have bother getting it to bleed, try the back bleed method where you use a syringe to push the fluid up from the slave to the master. You'll need another syringe to suck the fluid out of the master while you're trying to get it fully bled. All the best pal 👍
@@Twedymoto I don't know i took it to the dealer. I let them replace it and change the oil under warranty. But I have the Oberon replacement on the way...i don't want to deal with it again...
Both fit the 701. The clu1000 is the updated part with the big rubber bit on it. Confirmed by Oberon. 👍 Only reason I bought this one was that the 1000 wasn't in stock in blue and I'm really impatient so got the 1201. Lol
Great video! I have recently bought a 701 and have followed your steps in this video and thanks to you done my first successful bleed on my own! When I tested the bike out after, it doesn't appear to go into gear 1 or 5. Am I able to get your opinion on why this would be? The only thing I can think of is that maybe the cylinder needs realigning. I wasn't too comfortable with how it was placed as the bottom of the cylinder isn't sitting tight to the bike but I do not have a screw for the bottom so didn't know if this was the issue? Thanks!
Oberon clutch slave with gasket without oring is not Good idea, i have engine oil leak and hydraulic mineral oil leak for new bleed screw. V-ring is better solution than o-oring
I use new oring 23,52x1,78 to oem slave cylinder and leaking hydraulic oil to engine, first magura blood then ipone ,now i used oversize 2,0x23mm NBR 70 oring and is better but when i rode 20km and hot engine ,clutch lever sometimes do litlle soft about 30% ,i have to ride more km ~ 200-300and will see level hudraulic oil. I think I'll must buy oberon for my ktm 690enduro
Are we going to get more videos soon?

Glad it helped! Hopefully you have many miles of trouble free riding! 👍
Great video, I’m about to do this on my 690, also going to add an aftermarket shift rocker from Rottweiler . 🏍️
Thank you !! Could not figure this out until I saw your oil open close release method !!! How many miles now ?!?!
Glad it helped! That's always been my method for bleeding things and has always worked. :) It's done 10,600 miles
Appreciate you saving me about $200 at the dealer. Just ordered my Oberon and feel ready to tackle this install thanks to your fuck ups
Fucking shit up so you don't have to! 😎🤣

Yeah, it's crazy how its still happening. I believe they revised it on the 2020 model but it still fails. 😭
@@Twedymoto Yep. Just started up my 2020 after 5k miles and downshifted to find I had no clutch and an empty reservoir.

@@Twedymoto Cheers!
So you don’t need those washers?
No mate, the washers are for a banjo connection.
in my opinion, the open squeeze close let go works best for me
Has always worked for me over the many years! 👍
so you didnt fit the copper washers that came with the kit?
No, this seals in the bottom of the slave. The washers are only needed if a banjo bolt is used (not on 690 or 701)
@@Twedymoto thanks for the quick reply
just fitting mine now on 690
all fitted just bleeding system now

all the best for the new year

now hows your master pump with DOT braking fluid?
Same as before really as they come with Dot4 in them 👍 Didn't notice much difference after fitting the Oberon as it was so long since I last rode it.
Stock master and slave uses mineral oil. Not sure if you are supposed to switch to DOT4 any ideas? Cheers!
It says use dot4 or 5.1 on the master lid for the clutch and brakes mate.
@@Twedymoto thank you for correction! My KTM is mineral oil, husky is different. Interesting.
Bixby Moto - 2019 690 uses DOT 4
@@Twedymoto according to the manuals, it's hydraulic fluid. so i wonder how long it will take with dot.
Do you just fix bikes? I have a few bolts you could screw...
Do you have a hole that needs a good drilling?
@@Twedymoto I have a couple yes
Hi, is it working on 2021 701 ? Thx
Nice vidéo
It should yes. Apparently the part was updated for the 2021 model but some have reported it has still failed.
Mine went out on my 2020 690 smc the day after the first maintenance. Only 700 miles.
There's no consistency to it. :(. Do you know if yours had 4 dots or 3 inside the slave cylinder? 4 dots was supposed to be the updated version.

thanks!! yes mate, washers not needed.
Look forward to seeing more tutorial vids like this! Keep it up Twedy!
Thanks, and there's more to come! :)
