    My spouse and I are adding a variety of stocks/ETF to my present holdings for the long term, We've set aside $250k to start following inflation-indexed bonds and stocks of companies with solid cash flows, I believe it is a good time to capitalize on the market for long-term gains, but it wouldn't hurt to know means of actualizing short term profit.

    I came here to learn how to trade after listening to a guy on radio talk about the importance of investing and how he made $460,000 in 4 months from $160k. Somehow this video has helped shed light on some things, but I'm confused about the current market volatility, I'm a newbie and I'm open to ideas.

    Investing in various sources of income that are independent of the government should be the most essential item on everyone's mind right now. especially in light of the global economic situation at the moment. Still a fantastic moment to invest in a variety of equities, precious metals like gold and silver, and virtual currencies.

    Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future. Putting our time and effort in activities and investments that will yield a profitable return in the future is what we should be aiming for. Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. "You're not going to remember those expensive shoes you bought ten years ago, but you will remember every single morning when you look at your bank account that extra 0 in there. I promise, that's going to be way more fun to look at everyday", I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life

How much [or how often if its dollar cost averaging] do you invest [consistency] before you turn off the drip so that the earned divs will not reinvest and instead be in your account to be used however you see fit? The top 10 companies from 30 years ago are not the top 10 companies now. 20-30 years the market leaders change. The SP500 captures a broader market and promotes start-up stocks from the Russel and NATURALLY (without liquidation or selling) builds a position on it overtime like what happened to TESLA. Just like an ordinary portfolio, the SP500 would tend to be heaviest on the best performing stocks as long as u don't sell it. This is why apple is 7% of the index because overtime it became more valuable. The SP500 is a self-correcting portfolio. Facebook did went down, which means it's portfolio impact dwindles throughout time to a point it becomes so small we won't notice it changing or affecting the portfolio too much.

    Doing the math, purchasing a smart spread of dividends based on how you want your payoff schedule and at what yield is just like purchasing a multifamily property within the range of $350k to $700k to see a monthly dividend payout of $2k to $4k per month depending on your dividend portfolio.

    • @Kyle_P
      @Kyle_P 2 роки тому +1

      Not quite true. That has the illogical assumption that dividend payments are free income, which they aren’t. The short story is that when a company pays out a dividend, it devalues the company by the amount they pay out. The stock price can be expected to immediately drop on the ex-dividend date.
      Receiving a dividend should be considered the exact same thing as selling a certain percentage of your stock, and receiving cash in return. That is essentially what is going on every time a company pays out a dividend. They have less free cash, that did not go into purchasing real assets that stay on the company’s books. The money essentially left the company to go to shareholders.
      The TL;DR is that you aren’t gaining value from an asset in your possession (like renting property) you are transitioning some of your own assets from stock to cash, done automatically by the company when they decide to pay you. It’s like they’re selling stock for you and giving you the cash, that’s how the math truly breaks down.
      The real benefit is that some dividend stocks are more stable than the market, and the fact that they regularly pay out becomes very desirable in retirement, due to a number of tax/cash management reasons. So you’re staying in a stable market, while getting the benefits of selling without technically doing so.

I'd research this aspect of any dividend stocks as you income bracket, how long you hold the stock, and whether the dividends are qualified or unqilaified will have an impact on whjat you'll actually be able to keep. I think this is a great idea.

    17:00 You can think of dividend like this. If you have a 10% monthly paying dividend stock. You need to invest $12000 into this stock to get $100 each month. For a 5% monthly paying dividend stock you need $24000. As most "good" stocks offer a divident of 1-5% you need significantly more pr stock to get that $100. Many REITS, energy and others pay more but are more risky. It's all a matter of what you want to archive.

    About half of these stocks have had bad price performances. Over the past 12 months a portfolio constructed with these stocks would have returned -4.19% and had dividend yield of 6.53%. Total return would have been 2.34%. If you infact focused on the stocks that have had a positive or greater than -5.00% return over the last 5 years the list is only 6 stocks.
    DVN, ABR, SO, JPM, O, CAG. Over the past 12 months a portfolio with these 6 stocks returned -1.63 and had a dividend yield of 4.92%. Total return would have been 3.29% vs 2.34% for the initial portfolio. In selecting stocks for a dividend portfolio be sure to look at price performance over a long period of time(5-10 years) to guage whether the price is in a long term decline that is likely to continue. Altria is one recommendation here where the dividend yield is very attractive, however it's price performance over the past 5 years is -31.00%. It is in an industry that is forecasted to decline by 4% year over year, furthermore its "moonshine" investments in Cannabis and E-cigarettes are in low barrier to entry industries and segments. This would not be a good candidate for a long term dividend portfolio. Hope this adds value to someone, invest wisely my friends!

    16:54 , That's the good part I like about this video. He's honest. It won't perform miracles. What's sad is that people get this notion that you can make millions of dollars off just $100 in an investment. Those people were insanely lucky and invest way back in the day. On top of that, getting huge returns on stocks is difficult and dangerous. People that make a living buying/selling options and the riskier stuff have money that they're willing to risk/lose. As a beginner, I'm hoping to make some wise investments, gain some dividends, and reinvest those dividends to help grow my retirement for when I get that chance in the next 25yrs, perhaps 30. Though, with things the way they're going, I may not retire for the next 40yrs when I'm 79 going on 80.
