Init, yeah for sure you should make a "lazy PVMer" video where you try different bosses with different levels of "laziness" lol. Full revo ++, no switches, maybe legacy (but tbh I don't think many people are actually using legacy). Also, one more question, when PVMing on full manual, where are your eyes focusing? I find that I am just staring at my action bar but I know that's wrong. How quickly are you shifting your eyes and what are you focusing on?
I used to watch my cool downs a lot, but eventually you get used to timings and can just watch the fight. I glance at my action bar probably every few abilities though to check cooldowns etc
@@Gwap97 y ure so skilled player click a mouse button switch everything with ur macro :D yy ma boi go play another game if u want to show ur mechanics rs3 is not for this.
Hey Innit, you mentioned how imporant ability prioritization and understanding abilities is, I would love to see a beginner friendly video explaining the abilities themselves and how synergise with each other.
The lazy/no switch PVM guide would be nice. In particular I’d like to know the DPS increase of the different perks people switch for. You mentioned camping planted feet in this video but using a caroming switch. It feels like it’s a lot easier to switch planted feet once a minute than switch caroming for grico every 6 ticks.
P6 a1 main c4 pf offhand … one day will be c4 e2 offhand and the caroming / pf will be a switch I don’t ha e to worry about forgetting to take off and miss a grico
Actually switching for caroming/grico every 6 seconds becomes a braindead thing after a while, because the timing is always the same you stop really thinking about it. Same as 4ticking magic. Sometimes i've been maging a few days and do some ranged, and i find myself pressing the buttons to 4tick, but of course that doesn't work with ranged.
No Switch and/or Rev guides would be amazing. I'm getting back into the game and doing PvM casually and looking through existing guides is just discouraging.
Something that needs to be considered for anyone who has a goal of improvement, no matter the starting point, is that it will take time and effort to get there. Whether that's money to upgrade gear, getting a better understanding of abilities, learning new bosses, etc. You didn't see other people's time investment into whatever they are doing that you can't do yet. If things take you longer, that's fine, goals need to be specific though and there's no point in looking at someone else's goals.
A big thing I’ve noticed is focusing on one thing at a time with PVM. If you want to incorporate more switches or using more defensives for example, make the conscious effort to add them in at bosses you don’t need to. So much easier to recover from a bad reso at vindy then taking a so much power to the face!
Comment about the switch scape. Dagganoth kings requires 3 different weapons. I hate switching and refuse to do it. Switching of any sort even a shield switch should not be necessary for any boss fight. They should all only boost kill speeds and reduce food use for those who wish to. Nobody in a real fight is gonna take the time to put away a weapon to pull out another weapon and a shield. That's not how battles work. If you go into the fight with a sword u use that sword to fight.
I learned a lot of this by starting an ironman. You realize pretty quick that you don't need the best gear to boss, because you start off with pretty bad gear. Death costs honestly aren't that bad since that's all my gp and onyxes are good for a lot of the time. You have to learn your abilities to learn how to beat harder bosses for better gear. It really teaches you how to play the game because there are no shortcuts unless you're already an experienced player. Ironman modes is my favorite mode.
as a max melee using, mid-tier pvm'r, i can tell you that my biggest issue with moving on it just being intimidated of the content. i don't have anything special unlocked, basic overloads no excaliber. 99 all combat stats. i just cant get into it cuz I'm too anxious
You'll never progress if you don't try new things out, you've got to push yourself to do them. I would anxious about telos and now i'm doing 100%+ just fine
Love a commentary about not needing top end gear and not needing switches over the top of a video of you franticly swapping fsoa for preasol/impcore! but you are correct regardless of irony. My mate Spud proved it to me when I was too scared to even try Telos and he went in with a T90 weapon and no armour and got a kill just to prove me wrong! can you believe it!?
I don't get it. A lot pf people I know don't use switches, but they complain about switchscape. Just play the game how you like, if you don't wanna switch then don't. Play on revo++, it's all doable
"If you just learned Vindicta, don't throw yourself at Raksha..." I feel attacked... I skipped everything and jumped straight to Zuk during the last free death recent...
I did Kalphite Queen with no switches, just wand+shield! =p Would not recommend, takes like 20 minutes, first phase was all reflect damage. But seriously, yeah, I've never not used revolution, and I kill things OK. I keep pulling abilities off of it as it becomes more convenient to trigger them manually. It's down to like 3 abilities now, but it definitely didn't start that way. I think that in order to prove your point about gear not mattering so much as people think, we need a Lumbridge Strikes Back (achievment) stream. I am quite certain that no one will believe you otherwise ;) ;) Worst case, you die a bunch... but you live in Death's Office anyway, and he doesn't charge as much for Bronze equipment. ;).
Lol I did Lumbridge strikes back on stream aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages ago :D I THINK It was 1 attempt lol. If I can find the stream I will link it but I highly doubt I will be able to D: Wasn't titled anything specific to it.
You should make a video for pvm skill progression.....like an order of lower to higher end bosses or something that could help a newb like me grow as a pvmer ive heard you talk about it alot but not found a good guide on lower bosses to higher bosses and what are you learning from the boss....not nececessarily the drops from it but what your trying to learn like a new mechanic or different ways of dealing with similar mechanics in different ways.....that would be a video worth at least a million likes!
Higher level PvM is absolutely daunting to someone like me that's never really put that much thought into combat. I'm maxed out on stats and quests, but use full Revo because manual ability use intimidates me. I've only recently gone from Revo++ to plain Revo and started using defensives, and even that is frying my brain. I've only really fought bosses that require minimal input, and the most I've done has been movement and prayer switches while brute forcing my way through with food when I need to. I can get through Bosses like Vindicta, Furies, and the Ranged Rex Mariarch on Revo++ with zero food use. Even with NM Kerapac, I can flick and dodge my way to phase 4 without much trouble and then just Time-warp Devotion to get 20 seconds Invuln and eat my way to a kill on Revo++ with no shield while wearing full unaugmented Armadyl and a Royal Crossbow. My biggest issue is that although I want to get better at PvM, the fact that I can still get kills on fairly high level content with little to no effort reinforces my behaviour and stops me from forcing myself to learn.
I use revo and refuse to go full manual as I hate manually doing my basics. I get pretty fast kill times on all bosses and have no issues doing all bosses in-game, yes once in awhile as you said, revo time is probably the biggest thing that gets messed up but there's no reason you need to full manual.
If you're not doing like high end bosses like solak, vorago, aod etc. You can kill most bosses with full revo and shield switch. Full manual is only for high mechanical bosses.
Hey I would like to see you kill some bosses with minimum switches and revo and maximum switches and full manual to show the difference in inputs and rewards to people.
Get 99 slayer before you start bossing... literally it is easier to just use your posd and certain high yeild monsters than trying to practice at something like gwd 1. You can use gwd 1 to gear up if you are trying to ironman it but you don't have to as most gwd1 gear is dirt cheap (hence why it is not worth doing) really you should start with gwd 2 and arch glacor if anything but if you just get unlucky there it is so easy just to do an hour of something like say tormented demons in a psod. There are more profitable monsters too but if you don't want to just jump into bossing, just know that you have options.
I think crypt is like 7% less damage than Elite tectonic or something like that. I would suggest finding some discords to pvm in that are dedicated to letting anyone join in! like mine / my clan in game :)
Excuse me, but I'd like to make a correction to something you said. I NEVER die at bosses anymore, tyvm. Literally can't remember the last time I died.
that comented about the imsconception that better gear = better times, when ability priotization is way more is so true. ? I struggle with this though personally. I'm an average pvmer with all the bis gear you know. Can do every boss in the game Solo, full manual. I'll watch yt video's or streamers and I get so mad. Like Rsguy beats my hm kera time on his solo iron, with gear thats way worse, no t95 prayers. It's ridiculous and I let it get to me cause I want to be better lol. I was at a wall for a long time but slowly starting to improve more, my recent issue I've worked on was, using filler abiltiies. I had a bad problem of firing my strongest dps ability each time lol, instead of working it where there isnt a time where I don't use weak abilities cause all the rest are on cd
I'm interested in the revolution ++ bossing. I haven't done high end pvm because I struggle with full manual. I practice but my dps is alot less than revo++
i wouldnt go balls deep into manual coming from revo++. i would switch to revo and manually casting ultimates and tresholds, that way youll learn to manually cast some abiltites. once you got comfortable i would suggest keeping revo in but start to manually press the normal abilies as well this way you will slowly learn to use full manual but have the safety net of revo. also try practicing this at easier bosses like GWD2 or even GWD normal modes (can be a bit trickier)
As he says in the video you can be right at the top level still using revo for basics and just prioritise thresholds correctly Another idea might be restart pvming ladder, go back to gwd1 stick with full manual, even practice a rotation for somewhere else, used devotion and res some attacks and be a lot safer
I've been practicing at vindy, I can get 45 sec kills with full revo. I did try the safety net of having basics on revo but I still couldn't get my kill times faster. I was practicing a g surge rotation.
You might WANT best in slot for some bosses to make life easier. For example telos high enrage. But you absolutely don't need best in slot to kill araxxi and nex.. Considering "best in slot" gear today wasn't even around when bosses like nex, araxxi, telos, gwd2, kalphite King etc all released.. there is no reason you would ever need any items past their release date.
