- Pianistka, klawesynistka i aranżerka Hania Rani (czyli Hanna Raniszewska) oraz wiolonczelistka Dobrawa Czocher stanowią duet młodych, klasycznie wykształconych artystek, które z powodzeniem łączą dwa muzyczne światy - muzyki poważnej i rozrywkowej. Poznały się w Gdańsku, gdzie rozpoczęły swoją przygodę z muzyką. Następnie odbyły studia na Uniwersytecie Muzycznym Fryderyka Chopina w Warszawie.
Dobrawa zetknęła się z twórczością Grzegorza Ciechowskiego już w dzieciństwie - w jej rodzinnym domu muzyka lidera Republiki zajmowała ważne miejsce. Propozycję, by przedstawić muzykę Ciechowskiego w zupełnie innej odsłonie, otrzymała od organizatora festiwalu Grzegorz Ciechowski in Memoriam. Do współpracy zaprosiła Hanię, a w 2015 roku ukazał się ich debiutancki album Biała flaga.
Jak brzmi twórczość Ciechowskiego w aranżacjach na dwa piękne instrumenty, jakimi są fortepian i wiolonczela? Będziemy mogli się o tym przekonać już w niedzielę 12 kwietnia podczas kameralnego koncertu online. Młode artystki zaprezentują to, co w muzyce Ciechowskiego najlepsze, wykorzystując do tego własną wirtuozerię i warsztat.

Hania and Dobrawa are so talented and gifted and can be considered as in the element of other famous composers like Bach, Mozart. I am so lucky to be able to see this two wonderful women playing such angelic music even though I am on other side of the world in Malaysia. I am at the bottom of my life right now. To be able to see Hania and Dobrawa playing such beautiful music gives me the joy that makes me cry that in life everything is not in despair. Even at our lowest moments of life there are joy in Hania and Dobrawa music. Thank you to you both for creating such beautiful music. I am glad to have found you both.

The appearance of these recordings was possible thanks to the kindness of the Szczecin Philharmonic.
At the beginning of the video, Dobrawa tells how she met Hania. So in junior high school. Since then, they played piano music with each other in trio, and their friendship developed over the years. Then they lived together while studying in Warsaw.
Then their duo appeared out of nowhere. She thinks it's a beautiful story because the unspoken stories that come out of nowhere and then turn out to be one of the most important adventures we have in life. This was the case with them and Dobrawa would like to share it with us.
Dobrawa says that she comes from the same city as the late Grzegorz Ciechowski. An outstanding Polish musician and songwriter who, together with the "Republika" band, once recorded the album "White Flag".(Biała flaga)
Once, Dobrawa was asked by a man organizing the Grzegorz ciechowski festival in Tczew to prepare a different vision of Grzegorz's works.
She immediately knew who to go to with it. She knew that Hania would be the perfect person for this project.
The girls were very surprised at that time as they were then concentrated on classical music, studies and practice.
This project will develop monmentally, because of the three compositions that the girls prepared for the festival in Tczew, ten arrangements were created that were first performed live, which then was an extraordinary event for the girls on the air of radio Gdańsk. They were invited by now their dear friend Kamil Wicik. They greet Kamil. And that's how the adventure began. Later they released their first album where there are ten arrangements of Grzegorz Ciechowski's songs.
As a tribute, the girls played this iconic new wave / rock / post punk album. Dobrawa emphasizes that she was brought up on Grzegorz's music. In her home, as she says, one has always listened to him with great respect and admiration. The whole town was proud that Grzegorz was born there, she says.
This project came to the girls and they developed with him as artists, not only as classical musicians but as people looking beyond the borders of classical music forms. The girls began to mix their worlds.
Interestingly, Hania has already released her two solo albums, she is making an amazing career and Dobrawa is a member of the Szczecin Philharmonic where she fulfills herself as an orchestral musician, but she still has not given up this project because it is very developmental for her. Together with Hania, they continue to work and they plan to record another album, this time one hundred percent of their own authorship.
Finally, she asks us to keep our fingers crossed because they hope it will be something really special. They will keep us informed about it. Then she invited us to a concert that took place in 2018 at the chamber hall of the Szczecin Philharmonic.

Everytime when i have dificult moments or some inconvenient during a day,i remember that now we have the music of Hania and Dobrawa to take a very peaceful moment and a real oasis brake.

Pamietam ta muzyke z czasow podstawowki z lat 80tych - ale gdyby nie bylo podpowiedzi ze to Ciechowski, to niewiem czy bym rozpoznal. Ciekawa interpretacja. Dobrawa z Tczewa - pozdrowienia dla Pomorzanek od bylego 'Sledzia Pomorskiego' z Ottawy.
Piękno w czystej postaci. Wracam do tego koncertu od paru dni, bo ten czas w grudniu w Toruniu zawsze poświęcony jest Grzegorzowi Ciehcowskiemu. A tu mamy hołd oddany mu najpiękniej jak się da.
Nie pytaj o Polskę....

I wish there were subtitles for the beginning so I could know what she says. I think these two musicians should be more famous... Their playing is like magic.
In short:
she said that she met with Hania in school and they were friends; Regarding'Biała Flaga'- Dobrawa come from Tczew, where Grzegorz Ciechowski was born. The organizer of music festival (named by Grzegorz Ciechowski) proposed Dobrawa to write her interpretation of Grzegorz songs. Dobrawa agreed and get in touch with Hania and thats how this concert was created. Cooperation was fruitful and they still cooperate with each other;
So, 'Biala Flaga' is a Tribute to Grzegorz.

Lieve Hania Rani eigenlijk hou ik helemaal niet van piano maar toen in jouw voor het eerst hoorde gaf me dat rust hooft. en ik luister nu elke video, en dan je op de verschillende instrumenten speel dan maakt het al zo boeiend naar te luisteren. Top ga zo door. en de bass er bij dat maakt het een geheel.

Don't understand Polish, so who wrote the pieces?
The main themes were written by Grzegorz Ciechowski, a Polish musician who was popular in the 80s; he played solo and with his band called Republika, he died several years ago. But in 95% the interpretation is so far from the original I'd say it's almost an original creation.
