the reason we dont use cats in eruope is because of the docking costs.. usually you pay more if you are wider on the dock because where you place a cat you can place 2 boat basically..
Ha! You don’t drink ouzo like that! You’re thinking of tequila? You add water and drink it long, it turns cloudy - nice! I’ve had hundreds of holidays around the Greek islands and used to take flotilla sailing holidays in groups of 12 yachts in the ‘80s. Fabulous times!
I love when people highlight the cold water temps! I live on Lake Michigan where the surface temps even in summer hardly crack above 50 degrees F (10 degrees C). Yet many people still go to the beach to swim, plus the cool lake has the added benefit of keeping air temps a good 2F-10F cooler within about 10 blocks. 60 degrees sounds downright tropical compared to that. I also may be biased as a former swimmer were we always preferred a cold pool to a warm one!
My wife and I were stationed with the USAF on Crete for two years and I was stationed in Southern Italy for two years. The big thing that impressed me was if we have an historical item (about 200 years old), Americans will sequester that item behind two feet of bulletproof glass. I remember walking through Pompeii, Santorini, and Minoa, being able to TOUCH murals and urns and walls that are 3000 years old! Even this many years later, it still blows my mind.
Bobby, sometimes I wonder if you realize how incredibly lucky you are. And then, it dawns on me,,,,yes you do. Because good luck comes with hard work. Thanks for your work bringing us these videos, Bobby!
That is one of the nicest boats I've seen on the series. Modern yet minimalist, looks fast standing still. I'm curious to see how stable it is at night. The beam looks super wide compared to other boats it's size. Keep killin' it Bobby!
Bobby and crew. Breathtaking. Thank. My first trip to Greece 1971 I was 14. We sailed the islands. Delos, Corfu, Santorini, Rhodes, Mikinos many more and Istanbul. Thank you for a great memory flashback. Have the fish…feta and tomato…..ouzo with ice. Watch what happens. Ty.
Awesome drone shots at sunset. Took me back instantly to visiting the Temple of Poseidon at sunset in the spring of 1976 on a school trip. It hasn’t changed - still a special place of unique beauty. Thanks for another cracking video!
Easter is different in Greece than many other countries because Greek Orthodox (and all Orthodox churches I believe) calculates the date of Easter using the Julian calendar whereas everyone else uses the Gregorian calendar (i.e. the 'normal' calendar that we all use today).
Bobby, in the mid-1980's while in the US Air Force, I was TDY to a small seaside village in Greece called Nea Anchialos. We were at the nearby Airbase with our F-111's for about a month. While we were there, the Greek government was excavating new ruins and the archeological team invited us inside the fences to look at what they had uncovered. They were uncovering a beautiful floor of a palace or temple that had all sorts of animal pictures in-laid in colored stones. Steph is interested in history and I would love to return to Nea Anchialos someday to see how the excavation was completed. Perhaps you guys will have a chance to get over there and check it out. It is called Thebes and dates back to 2 AD. They were able to excavate many artifacts from the period when it was populated. The archeologist giving me the tour let me see the floor they were excavating. I remember saying to him that I was fascinated that we were the first humans to walk on the stones of that floor since the last ones in 6 AD.
I am just so envious... I at least get to live vicariously through all of your adventures even if I cannot dream of being able to do any of this in my lifetime. Many thanks!
Oh yeah! Great video. This is a great crew. So natural and it’s obvious you all get along so well. And the drone shots of the temple are epic, well done.
Had a bus tour of Greece in 78. Temple of Poseidon had a parking lot close to it and we just walked in. I was using a Pentax 35mm camera with film that slides were made from. Still have all those old slides of Greece, Turkey, Egypt and Israel. Canadian UNDF Radio Operator, spent about 9 months in the Sinai with trips out for vaca.
Bobby, una vez más Graciasssss!!!! Por compartir esos lugares tan lindos, son un gran equipo!!!! Maravilloso!!!!!las chicas unos soles!!!! Abrazo grande desde Buenos Aires,Argentina.
What a great video Bobby, the drone shots of the temple were phenomenal. The girls are a bit crazy swimming in 60 degree water but they were having fun. Keep up the great video they are really enjoyable.
I had so much fun in Rhodes and Crete in my Navy days. The skipper of the Carrier used to go north of the parallel in that area for a brief time to give us tax free for the month since it still existed from the Kosovo War in 98-99. We were able to do that for the first 5 months of our cruise. Unfortunately the rest of it was spent in the Persian Gulf and then the Arabian Sea once 9/11 happened. We worked nearly 65 days straight (12 hours a day) which earned us a beer day in the hanger for our return through the Med.
It may be difficult to imagine, given the type of weather you encountered while in Greece, yet, water temperature is comfortably above 20 Celsius between mid May and up until mid November. And if you sail down South East, near Rhodes, then you start looking at 25-29 Celsius, which just feels like the Caribbean…
I love the love from the viewers. I'm so happy for the same/difference love you have shared with your Doodle peeps. Is that politically correct? Whatever. I don't shive a get!! Hug's from Texas 😎
Good job with the drone . . . I do envy you Bob . . . and I do not envy too many people . . . but I also know it takes work to make "things" happen . . . fair winds and following seas . . . maybe some day our paths will cross somewhere in the world.
Such Stunning Footage with the drone! Truly enjoyed it! Greece has always been on my bucket list, I am loving being able to see some of the history! Great job!
And now you have learned why the Irish and the British have been fighting about for 600 years......what day Easter falls on....I am totally serious, that why it all started. Battle of orthodox vs church of england. Great vid as always, that Beneteau is so sweet, my goal is an Oceanus 38.1.
11:50 Unfortunately they don't know how to drink Ouzo, they shud've added some water in it with afew ices, then the taste wudn't 've been bitter like that, on the contrary you'd love it so much.. Btw you are very close to Turkey, I live there, pls take a visit to Marmaris or Fethiye or Bodrum, you'lll like it alot.
2 amazing couples and one fine boat.
The night drone shots were really great!

dude! you could do an episode on how you set that up!

Sailing Greece, wonderful entertainment we are enjoyed thanks for sharing very impressive video congratulations, excellent photography 🙏
Beneteau - pronounced, in French, Bene too. Sailed a 56' Bene in the Caribbean. Fantastic with a lot of room.
