Big L, Rest In Peace!
Rest In Peace Big L!!
My guns go boom boom your guns go pow pow!
Known to have a hottie open... I keep the shottie smoking...
QUICK NOTE - This song contains several samples, however, apart from the drums and the main sample, they are quite insignificant (both are James Brown screaming "Yeah") so I decided to focus on the main sample. Additionally, how I put the sample together is correct but incorrect as the main sample is used for the chorus before being filtered out to just its bass for the verses section of the song. This was a COMMON practice for NY producers in the mid 90s with several songs containing this formula. So I ignored this tactic in favour of having the main sample repeat as that is what's mostly remembered of this song's production.
I had a feeling that a lot of NY producers really had to perfect it. Like Give Up The Goods By Mobb Deep which samples from Esther Phillips “That’s Alright With Me”. It’s dope how Q-Tip did it too
And the drums are chopped from skull snaps it’s a new day
He was the most valuable poet on the mic
A lot of people think so🙏
Buckwild went really went wild on this beat
Honestly, this is one of my favourite beats. Buckwild pioneered this style of production, literally, will have the sample for the chorus and then use the bass of the sample during the verses. Such a dope 90s feel.
You ever thought of the Game Like Father Like Son song. That’s another Buckwild production
@@youngconservative96 Just added to the request list. :)
@@DJObiSmalls that’s a great idea. And it’s the same song that was used on J. Cole’s Wet Dreamz

And when it comes to gettin nookie, I’m not a rookie. I got girls that make that chick Toni Braxton look like Whoopi
Kinda random, but I dm'ed Big L's Instagram page to check this episode out. The page is ran by his estate. They got back to me and told me they had subscribed to my channel a while back. Still in shock. But you just never know who checks out your work.
what about the bridge sample ?
@@JeeSabo This was the episode where I felt I needed to focus on all aspects of the song’s samples and not focusing just on the main part. From what I remember, the bridge of the song is taken from the same sample a few beats off the loop that is showcased here. Will remake this episode more accurately, soon.

Can you do “Swang” by Trae tha Truth with that Michael Jackson “Lady of my Life” sample
What's up JBDropDatBass?! I added your request to the request list.

Sup MArcelee, will check the song out and add it in the queue. :)
Aye bro. So do you use that Pioneer to do the sample break down
Yep. For this episode I did as it didn’t require any vocal reduction etc. Quite straight forward.
@@DJObiSmalls cool because I have a MPC one at home. So I think about getting one down the line. But I wanna get a old MPC because I heard that the old MPCs are way better. I know you ain’t a producer but I’m just saying
@@DJObiSmalls aye you ever thought about doing Imaginary Player by Jay Z. The songs is sampled from Imaginary Play Mate By Rene & Angela
@@DJObiSmalls you ever thought of doing shake Ya ass by Mystikal. It’s sampled from Soul Power by James Brown. Which Neptunes used
