Salta Province in NW Argentina is the only place on earth where you can consistently catch large freshwater dorado (Salminus maxilosus) on small, clear streams.
Parque Nacional del Rey in Salta is located in the transition zone between the high altitude Andes range and the Yunga, an extension of the Amazon watershed.

I am sooooo excited. Man oh man. Last summer up in three rivers was fun, I have so many new fishing spots ty I love this stuff hopping big rocks fishing pole in hand backpack on no shirt. Just soaking in everything. As you leave a fishing spot to hike further up the river Jumping in to cool off. Great stuff ty sir ❤️💪🏼

For me catching a golden dorado would be like finding the legendary city of gold itself. Catching rainbows out of narrow streams is one thing, but this is in a league all to itself.

Side note: He's using the current to flush oxygen through the gills by pointing the fish's head downstream to make sure the fish is safe to swim. I read this in a book a long time ago and have kept many fish safe with this technique. Something for you to consider after a long fight with a wild fish. Buy your fish at the market - release the wild ones to make baby fishes for next year's trip.

Totally awesome.
I love how everyone is always talking about bowing to the king in tarpon fishing, where Todd here never lowers his rod, keeping a tight line to the fish when it jumps. I think that is more likely to keep you pinned then constantly slacking the line when a fish jumps. The tarpon people think they know everything.

I wish we would stock these in New England instead of 12 inch rainbows that are all dead by July. They certainly look like they can tolerate warm, low-flow rivers

You could try European chub. Grows into great sizes, takes flies just like a trout, and tolerates warm and cold weather conditions. For example we have them naturally here, and in the summer mostly we do dry fly fishing, in the fall we fish wet flies and streamers, spring time is nymphs and during the winter you get those 2-3 feet torpedoes.
