- PROGRAM USED: Toon Boom Harmony. The idea of this technique can be used in most programs though.
Tweening bouncy snappy movements can be your best friend for giving things that extra bit of life. Especially for longer form projects that can't have wicked detailed movements

The joy of having your oc move for the very fist time is the most satisfying thing ever. 😂
Yea ikr 😂
I even watched my first animation everytime XD
I made a loop of a cute dinosaur dancing and felt so stupidly happy haha

I’m here before someone corrects you
@@Thing2dontmessitup888 correct? I'm confused 😂😂😂
It's not necessarily about how many drawings you have, but what you do with them. Great technique for limited animation!

Ruuuuuuuuush eeeeh
@@guythatcandraw Apparently you do cause you answered 3 years later. Just saying.
this is one of the 12 principles of animation, the first i think. Squash and stretch is a powerful tool.
Well durr
I think it's based on easy in easy out
I always use squash and stretch
Also Smears it works to
Yup.
@@user-hn7zb5vd6z "easy in" lmao i know what you meant but hahahaa
I just thought I would throw this tip in here because I don't see many people talking about it and it has helped me a lot.
usually how I can tell an animation is working well, is when I can play it backwards and still have it be easy to follow. I see it as kind of the same as flipping a drawing to see its flaws. usually when you watch it backwards it makes the motion the opposite of what you have in your head so you don't have your mind filling in gaps that an error might have left open.
don't know if I will help anyone with that but oh well.
Random Commenter That was very helpful, thanks!
Haha nice straight copy from an video..
Or not im not sure but ive heard that in some other animation tips videos..
lol ive never seen that animation video sooo he really helped
Oh thank you for this my animations won’t look like a slideshow anymore :D
Yea... I need some PRACTICE and also everyone has thar own style. Thanks for helping me put some life to my animations.
@extremedude1234 realistically they prolly improved tremendously if they practiced regularly
Well, no more drawing 100+ individual frames for 2 seconds of animation 🙂
i just realised how often this is used in modern cartoon animations.
Hmm *I JUST REALISED*
I watch to many tutorials and not enough practice
Phoenix Fury I don’t know what to practice with 😭 my only chance is in animation class which is a total of 3-4 hours weekly
@@pokaay3163 Try Krita, it's free and it also can do animation
Same
sigh 5 :(
this is me rn XD
To me you are the most relevant animation channel on my subscriptions list.
+The Art of Jireh Bourg that's one heck of a compliment :o
Onion Skin having trouble with toonboom. love the program but my trail max out. cant buy the program cuz its too expensive. help me pls
ItzSuz // Games & More! You can download a free animation software called PENCIL2D
ItzSuz // Games & More! get clip studio . cheap and has good animation features for frame by frame. for cutout Anime studio .
try carbotanimations
I think you saved my life of working on a 1:30 project in 10 days.
I apreciate it
hey dude, you don't have a million followers, but you totally should, i love your work and your explanations are clear as can be, please keep making awesome stuff :)
This is THE video I needed. Thank goodness for UA-cam and people like you with these tutorials.
Wish I could've seen this video sooner!!! This really helped a lot thank you!!! :D
I love this video because the squash and stretch tool is what I love to use in animation! The character is cute because of it's three moves!
Wow I’ve just started animated and I’ve wondering how to add that “bump”
Effect! Now I know 😭😭🤩
wich software do you use . ?
Yeah which software?
@@cupcake4041 use krita it's free or opentoonz or blender.
This is a technique that I already use a lot, but this really gave some great pointers that I'll definitely keep in mind, like keeping the mass the same.
Are u an animator . We can help each others
I've always been really drawn to this type of animation and really wanting to try it. This is really helpful!
MY FAVOURITE UA-cam CHANNEL
Very helpful. Thank you Onion Skin!
Thanks, Really cool tips here! I'm impressed how smooth of an animation is possible to make with just three images!
Can’t wait to make one of these animatic selfsona for my channel- thank you for the tut 😊 will give it a go in toon boom studio
LUV IT ! PLEASE MAKE MORE! THANK YOU FOR THE TUTORIAL.
I’m so glad this is my first tuto about animation cause I feel like I already saved hours
love this one man
This is fascinating. I'm more versed in how 3d animations are made, but it is striking how similar the processes of both are. Or, at least, how similar they are becoming.
I thought I saved the video somewhere and I swear I was looking for it for hours, thanks man nice video!
This is sick!!!⚙️🔥🔥
how man, thank you for this video, really good!
:0 this technique is beautiful thank you
Glad you made this video. Now my animation looks damn better. You saved my time sir!
great video dude, thanks for the help
Very useful video, thank you for sharing.
thanx for making this video man
Love the simplicity XD, makes a fun animation. Since this goes over kind of the stretch and squash technique, maybe you can make a video/series of the 12 principles? (if you did already, mb)
This has an Invader Zim feel. I like your technique my guy. I'm about to get into animation.
bro you've just kickstarted my animation.. god damn!
Your name is what i use so much in art
Yes, onion skin is rather important for animators

omg this is sooo helpful! didn't know that this was missing in making my animations more "popping"
Are an animator. May be we can help each other. Queen

Amazing man. Want to know what animation software do you use?
Hoping for a drawing tablet to start practicing digitally. Developing a character atm, and hopefully I can do it? 🤞🤞
Hah, like ur joke there. The channel has a lovely name
*claps in a speed of light
Thank you for this! *Hug and Kiss*
You could do this in Krita with the transform tool. What a great idea!
cool!
What software r u using
tnks
Hey what software is this great video
what software? i have ever animated and looking forward to, but don't know the program
i want to know if making a frame by frame animation is the best way of animating or it will save me a lot of time if i add a rig to my character and animate with keyframes
I got photoshop! But, Toon Boom was gonna be my main now I think photoshop got more colors and tools.
I really want to get a computer science degree when I get older, but I have 4 years till I can start taking classes about it. So I’m here now
Oh cool
Yeah like a boss
What program did you use to make this, is it free, what did you use to draw it, etc.? We need this info if we've never done this before.
T Black he was using toon boom :)
I'm using Krita cause its free.
I use animation desk
@@DoomguyIsGrinningAtYou. . Can krita make this animation to move like this
Dominic 2 Maynes same
You can do this in Blender 2.8 too but you need to make sure its only a few strokes and they they translate keyframe to keyframe
Is Inkscape a good animation software or do you recommend I get some other software
cool
I try to make an effort to do this, it makes everything feel more smooth and natural
hi if anyone knows can you please comment below, How do you play the audio in abode animate without having to watch the animation so it just plays the audio thanks
amazing video, is it toonboom harmoy? i'm a beginner i'm learning moho.
Interesting
Good video
how to you make them change with the movement without any holes and everything? Also what is the app you are using?
How would you save your animation so that you can watch it on a gif of something along those lines. I've made an animation on krita but I'm just stuck as to how to save it and what to save it as. If you could reply it would be much appreciated and it would really help me out. Thanks!
thank :) software you used to create tht animation ?
TheOdd1'sout uses this technique for his animations too
French Toaster He doesn't use animation software to do it though. He does it in a simpler manner
French Toaster it's not really animation is just slides animation has the characters actually moving
TheOdd1'sout is AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Nia Thompson Nah but lately he has actual animation in his videos
Can i use photoshop for this?
One difficult thing to do is to figure out a design for your forever character making sure it doesn't look like a another UA-camrs character
Derpy Mink671 make it look like you. Easy
Hey thats good how about if we help each other . Send me ur facebook username
Good ol’ squash and stretch
WHATS THE PROGRAM? (sorry, i'm a total noob wanting to start doing very simple animations) Great video!
what do you use to draw? Or just list any good drawing apps.
Thank you it was hard to make in flipclip
Do you think that sketch book is a good program for Animation?
What program are u using. I want to do this
Can i use my drawings to create such videos? And can i also add background from any kind of pic??
