Police apologise for 'hate' warning after sex offender was 'misgendered'

- A police force has apologised after the Home Secretary accused it of “playing identity politics and denying biology” around sexual offences committed by a transgender woman years before transitioning.
Sussex Police had insisted it would not “tolerate any hateful comments” about gender identity “regardless of crimes committed” and advised a Twitter user who said she was exercising her gender critical views to familiarise herself with what is regarded as hate on its website.
Some hours later the force said a comment made on its official Twitter account had been “inconsistent with our usual style of engagement”, and that it had since been deleted.
The force said it recognised the “rights of the public to express themselves freely within the boundaries of the law”.
Responding to the initial tweet, Home Secretary Suella Braverman said the force should “focus on catching criminals not policing pronouns” after Sally Ann Dixon, of Swanmore Avenue, Havant, Hants, was jailed for 20 years having been convicted of 30 indecent assaults.

It should not be a crime because it's not a crime. These people can pretend to be whatever they want, but don't expect me to live my life following their lies.
The truth is not a crime
For two reasons:
1) Because what is 'misgendering' - using a pronoun contrary to the wishes of the person; or using a pronoun contrary to the vast number of biological gender markers?
2) Because a person should be able to identify however, they want, but they should not be able to compel others to go along with that. This is especially true where the identity is clearly a untrue. I don't care if a person wants to identify as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, but if my house is burgled, I don't want them investigating, I want real police.
I also don't think there is such a thing as a 'hate' crime. Who cares if an act of violence is motivated by a discriminatory attitude? I remember watching someone get sentenced for breaking a jaw and then stamping on someone else, the latter being made worse because it was racially motivated and so a 'hate crime'. What was the breaking of the jaw? A love crime?

I am in Sussex and tried to phone on a complaint about this. They told me to fill in an online form. I said that I didn’t feel ‘safe’ giving my name and address to access an online form. The way they tried to silence perfectly reasonable questions from women and instead strongly defended a paedophile’s delicate sensibilities.

I got a written warning for calling a guy a groper in a text. I actually witnessed him putting his arm around a school girl and he was notorious for this and giving school kids alcohol, sweets and cigarettes. They can’t. It’s an ideology. They can’t provide proof of their gender just like religious folk can’t provide proof of god. This is absolutely absurd. As a woman I no longer feel safe in this country because telling a man to get out of women’s spaces is slowly becoming a crime. I fear for anyone with young daughters or other female family members. I fully appreciate and agree with Mike and Candices' point of view regarding this topic. However, their concept of the different punishment levels in male and female prisons is a misconception. The punishment handed down by the courts regarding incarceration is loss of liberty and nothing else. You cannot as an individual prison add your own punishments on top of that handed down by the court. Male and Female prisons have the same boring and repetitive regimes. This is the 'grind and get nowhere' of prison. It is as much a strain on Prison Officers. In the mind numbing boredom and colourless existence you wish something would happen. (Yes, I'm a retired Prison Officer who worked on prison landings. I also worked with sex offenders.)
I think they were alluding to the idea that the other inmates don't look kindly upon crimes involving children rather than the prisons themselves doling out punishments. I don't know about modern times, but my grandfather was also in the prison service about 40 or so years ago and his experience was that even the most stone-cold murderers were sickened by it and given the chance nasty things would happen to 'fiddlers'. The introduction of cctv may have changed the outcome nowadays, but I guess even criminals still have a line that shouldn't be crossed.
Things may have changed, I could be wrong, but I think that's what they were talking about, at least how I understood it.
@@hotdog1214 segregation of sex offenders into separate living accommodation, work areas and recreation and exercise areas, effectively prisons within prisons, is done for their safety. They do not come into contact with other inmates because they are indeed seen as the lowest of the low and would be attacked. In fact as I left the prison service, prisons were being built to house only sex offenders because it is expensive running separate regimes within a prison while sharing services like healthcare, library, gym. Parts of the prison would have to be closed off to other inmates while sex offenders were moved under escort to use these services. These movements are time consuming regarding staff and logistics. All of which is solved by having one regime in one prison.
