Silver plating lures just never gets old for me. I just love to watch it go from blotchy grey to a perfect reflective surface. When I get going silver plating I always find myself trying to come up with something else to plate...and I somehow can never think of anything! How about some ideas for you all out there...what do you think would be cool to silver plate?
I don't think I'll ever get geared up to do this but thoroughly enjoyed watching someone else do it. Those lures are prime for sure. That last shot of the lure hooked on the reel near the end is the money shot. Thanks for posting these. I was in bed and my iwatch 'dinged' informing me that EA had posted again. This one lasted my entire cup of coffee this morning. It's still cold and drizzling here in Maine. We've even got a fire going in the fireplace. So, my coffee and this easy to view video was a welcome, morning event. Thank you...
Thank you so much... I get a huge kick out of knowing that my videos become a part of people's routines . Hope the weather warms and you get a chance to do some fishing...cheers.
Great results ! Makes me think about sheets of silver or gold for lures. Craft stores have the small fine sheets and adhesive. They would not be as smooth as yours.
Incredible process with a fantastic finish. I will be searching your archives for the videos showing how to do the double sprayer. Can't beatvshiny for saltwater fish! Thank you!
Really love the vids dude. Keep them coming. As a builder and designer myself I love to see other perspectives of the industry. You really show the "nerdy" side of this hobby LOL
I really want to do this, there is such a need in the Pacific Northwest for this with the quality of paint jobs on many lures today and bringing back old beatup plugs from the past and rejuvenating them. I will go look at all your tutorials on this and give it a go. But would love advice and guidance if possible. Thanks. Ryan
@@EngineeredAngler I guess one of my questions is I use House of Kolor paints and am not sure how everything will react to one another. Any ideas? Thank you.
Franco it is amazing job, but not everyone has the same space and tools to do it. Do you have the link where to buy this product? To make really shine ? Thank you. I would like to see how will you do a big popper design
THANKS....if you could only tell me if this silvering is fuel resistant and you could see my motorcycle from USA and im in heart of the Balcans..... :)
Whats the company you get the chrome from and how many parts are there in the whole process ? is it three, two parts from the spray gun and then one to wash it off at the end..
Nice video. Can you comment why clear coating with KBS would still cause a silver plated salmon spoon to tarnish? I cleaned off the black tarnish with a silver brighter dip. Spoon returned to new look. I thought sealing with KBS would protect the finish but it darkened underneath after a week or so. Any thoughts?
Yes...Most clear coats including two part resins will react with the silver and start the oxidation. There are only a few clear coats that will protect the silver. If you visit some websites that specialize in silver you can find some protective coatings.
@@EngineeredAngler one year later and still looking for a specific clear coat that covers silver and gold and does not tarnish underneath. I tried Everbright, jewelry clear but not good for fishing applications Chips easy. Any others you can think of?
Hi Franco, what about the mini spray gun that you are using, nozzle diam? I would like to buy one but the price, at list for brand ones, are to high for my wallet. What about yours? Thanks so much 👍
Thanks, I did not mean the double bottles gun, I already built one thanks to you as always!!!!! , I was referring to the mini spray gun that you are using for clear coat, nozzle size, gen detail, thanks 🙏👍
I found an automotive clear coat that works so well however, impossible to spray with airbrush, must be thinned to much. I was thinking about a mini spray gun but I never used one, no idea about nozzle diam, that's why I saw you and ask From here Thailand, the harbor freight web site can not be opened, don't ask me why, what about your gun nozzle diam? Thanks 🙏 so much!
I would normally use the minwax as a mid-coat to protect the silver from most clear coats but, the two part clear dose not react with the silver so I saved a step.
Yes its a mini gravity feed but the key is the adjustment. I set it up right at the very lowest range of it's operating pressure and air flow. I also set it up to have a very small spray pattern. You could see in the video how close I could hold the gun to the target.

Hi nice to meet you. It's look pretty good. Whats are these chemical which you use for this perfect result? Best regards Deyan.
Would you ever consider doing a large run of silver plating and what would your price be? Say for 250 baits that are already stripped...

Another great video well done
Yep
Brilliant! 💎
Literally..
You are an outstanding and humble lure designer mr. Franco!
Thanks for sharing.🤝
Thank you.
Excellent painting procedure. Thanks for bringing it back....
My pleasure

Sure! Silver and gold leaf gives a really nice results. The textured surface can add to the realistic look.
Another very informative video, thank for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Glad you found it interesting.
Shine on Franco!...shine on!

More to come! I'm afraid the nerdy side comes natural🙄 Thank you watching.
Yes on spray chrome
Really cool process. There's a 1 part mirror finish thats really good but I don't know how hard it is.
Beautiful...Only thing nicer was the shot from your dock!!

Sure...take a look at the tutorials that the manufacturer or supplier has and then feel free to ask me questions. I'll help where I can.

I use bass lures to catch white Sea bass in bays etc that finish is perfect to attract them ,is that water based Paint i?
The transparent paint on top of the silver is water based.

For it to be fuel resistant you have to give it a few coats of 2K clear. A chrome fuel tank will look awesome. Good luck

Ill be doing a full video on the process....coming very soon.

Are you dripping into wetting agent and the sensitizer in the same mix? can you combine them?
I don't use the wetting agent...just flame lick, then dip into sensitizer, rinse and spray the silver
@@EngineeredAngler will you be doing any tests with this process with flexible parts?
That gold must be killer on the redfish.
What 2 part chrome are you using ??
I purchased angle guilding and have had issues with quality . Splotching and whitening
I use the angel Gilding stuff

Why not use uv clear instead of epoxy for the base?
Its not quite as glossy
Why did you use an automotive 2 part rather than the minwax you normally use ?
I would normally use the minwax as a mid-coat to protect the silver from most clear coats but, the two part clear dose not react with the silver so I saved a step.
Hey Franco, I’d love to see more on automotive clear coating. Are you using an HVLP gun to spray the auto clear?
Yes its a mini gravity feed but the key is the adjustment. I set it up right at the very lowest range of it's operating pressure and air flow. I also set it up to have a very small spray pattern. You could see in the video how close I could hold the gun to the target.
is there anywhere to buy the kit you use?
Angel gilding sells the chemicals and other tools
Genial
Where can I get the liquid silver
I get mine from Angel Gilding
