Wonderful, insightful interview. I love when Mr. Albee says he writes at his beach house in Montauk and takes long walks along the ocean. That's the life.

I would argue that aquaintance with music of various genres (not necessarily Classical music)might be of use to an aspiring playwright.

What does anyone think about the wonderful Mr. Albee's point that 'the creative act is a solo act'?

This sound like it took place in a time when people would actually be denied access to the class because they lacked the fundamentals and understanding.

I love that, the play begins in the unconsciousness

I was a student at the U of H when he taught there. For a while I believed it was a shame I never took his class. But I'm glad I didn't. I have the feeling that he crushed the dreams of many creators. The snooty elitism coming off him is chilling. Mamet, by contrast, is very open that "if a class clown like me can do this, you can too." It's highly irresponsible to sit as a professor not believing in the abilities of your students. It makes me sick, really. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it. If you really love it

I wonder if any of his students found success.

Old and boring, not much useful information. But I do wonder what this guy would have said about Covid and how it crippled theater.
