I'm running out of GL1000s and 1100s to work on. However, I am experimenting with a cylinder head porting job on my 83 wing. I have extra heads to experiment with.
Hi Bob, is it straightforward to install the coils as you skipped this part and showed them fitted?! I'd also like more explanation on static timing as I've not done any of this before, and your video gives me confidence to try this install
@@SuccessShared I am just starting a full restoration of a 1977 Goldwing. It is currently fully disassembled and the frame is out for repair at a fabrication shop. The bottom tube is rusted out. I will start making Videos about this project. I will be doing a complete rewire using NWT Cycletronic components. Stay tuned!
Great video!! You explain everything well and have been very informative w your teachings. Im very appreciative of your help!! I, too, have a 1976' gl 1000 that im doing upgrades to.
I am about to start a restoration on a 77. One of the main upgrades will be rewiring with NWT X21. I will be making a series of videos about this project.
Honda put some effort into making the still available "bombsight" adapter that fits into the crank case so that you can dynamically time a running engine enabling you to check timing at idle and at full advance. If you time it statically with a bulb it is always out when you strobe it. The engine will perform better if it's timed and fuelled correctly and,of course, that their leads plugs, condensers etc are all working as they should. If all these are okay there little need to get rid of the points.
Hi Bob, as always, great movie. It’s important to mention that the load resistor should be change when moving from point to Dyna. Also, the condenser shouldn’t be left disconnected. Right ?
With the 5 ohm coils the ballast resistor is no longer needed, so it was removed altogether. And yes, the condensers were disconnected but left in place. I should also mention that I had to cut about 3/4 inch off from the intake horn on the airbox to accommodate the Magna Coils.
Outstanding Bob. Really enjoy your videos. It's very apparent you know this model! Please keep up the good work!

Hello and greetings from Poland 🤠
Wow, are Goldwings popular there in Poland?

I have tried to find the "bombsight", but have had no luck in finding one to buy. If they still make it, they are keeping it to themselves.

@@BobKramer51Wow!
You mention the T1 & T2 marks but I think you have to look for F1 & F2 marks, am I right?
Yes, you are correct. I should have said F1 and F2
Jesus
I knew what u meant
Nice
Thanks for watching
