The fog is not good to have just have to appreciate the artistry that goes in these films obviously not the actual plot just the CGI
It still upsets me knowing that this movie did not receive a single recognition for its groundbreaking visual effects. All because of the narcissistic mind-numbingly stupid movie critics.
Sometimes, they probably just don’t give a crap about seeing a movie judging by how it’s a big spikey dinosaur thinking that it’s just a moving (book) picture of a lizard stomping some pixelated blocks but really godzilla community has had some of the most talented vfx effects, I’m surprised how godzilla minus one got such a success while they just look like their doing their job as a basis, I guess it’s them noticing that in present years their publicly noticed franchises like Disney be falling apart with Wish leaving them no choice to just look at godzilla for the few times of their life. I’m glad I grew up with monsters and I’m not ashamed that it gives me chills of being a little kid dwarfing large animals instead of complex human stories yadayada with that older aged fanbase.

I honestly find this to be the ugliest Monsterverse movie visually, and this breakdown is the best proof that the reason for that isn’t because the visual effects/CGI are bad. It’s the god damn overly-stylized color grading. There’s some truly impressive breakdowns that showcase tons of detail in the CG models and rendering, until they get wiped over with the most ugly color tints and over-use of weather effects. All of that amazing creature animation and detail gets obscured in the final shots!
If you think this is the ugliest MV movie visually speaking, then you have forgotten about G2014. That movie was literally unwatchable cause of all the stupid darkness and fog covering everything

Imagine being a VFX artist working so hard on rendering the model perfectly and getting everything to look super photo-realistic. Just for some asshat to slap a shitty Adobe rain effect and a color filter on top of all your hard work.
I love the special effects, honestly in this movie they looked amazing, however in GXK New Empire, Godzilla seems to have the same special effects as in the Call of Duty DLC or the PUBG Mobile DLC, it looks bad -As for the critics, they stopped being important a long time ago (example: Cuties is a good movie according to the critics, really? 👮👮♂👮♀🚓🚔) -And as for the people who complain about the special effects, well the Titans look powerful, they look like gods, the fog is not that bad compared to the 2014 movie, and the fog and the rain, there has to be some here, since Ghidorah unleashed world storms, did you really expect a clear sky with that? -and before I forget, they criticize KOTM for the fog, the rain and the fact that it takes place during the dark, but, they never criticized Pacific Rim, they even praise it, and it's not like that movie was very bright, in fact, Pacific Rim Uprising (the one with better lighting and details) is a garbage movie.
hell no the LACK of dark filters is the issue! KOTM had the issue of oversaturating their filters! if scenes like antarctica and boston were set in a dark blue or greyish filter it would be 100 times better

There was too much fog and effects, it obscurred so many things i didn't even know were there until the effects were in a way removed
the issue is the color grading not the weather. the weather just makes it realistic.
