Today, I had a mobile mechanic show up to my house to fix a problem I was having with my AC on my personal truck and the experience with him reminded me of watching your videos of you in the shop with your guys working on the trucks and showing us how a truck engine works and how to fix the various things. To make a long story short, it was a great experience where I got to interact, ask questions, and learn about things I didn't know about my truck because he took the time to show me the truth of what was really going on and what did need fixing which makes what Laurence is doing that much more interesting knowing this is obviously an important need nobody has done until him.

Please relay to them that the girl needs to have a fume extractor running when she’s cleaning the pads on the chips. The fumes from the flux and the solder can be toxic. It’s a cheap piece of equipment but it would be a lot healthier for all of them.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a good experience with these folks. I've paid $2500 for a CPC repair. I tried it in the truck and had more codes that I started with. He asked that I send it back to him. I did and he hasn't fixed it. For 2 months I have asked for it back. Fixed or not. However Mr Shafer has ghosted me. Weeks and weeks. No response and no CPC. Would NOT send my CPC or anything there again.

I wonder how many of those are actually failed CPC's and how many are working units that are being sent in before they fail to get ahead of it?
And another thing: This here is another proof of "Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover". Lawrence may have a southern accent and missing teeth from the middle of Tennessee but he got the smarts to figure this out, know to recognize an opportunity for more business and if it wasn't for him, there would be a lot more truckers unable to deliver what we need and take care of their families.

It sounds like Freightliner, Western Star / Dimeler have knowingly designed this cpc with this flaw so that it will fail after the warranty has expired so that the truck owners will have to spend the money on labor and a new cpc. It would also seem that they don't care about the potential thousands of dollars it could cost the truck owners. I wonder if someone could bring a class action law suit against them. After all this video proves the fault in how the parts are made and how it could be fixed by the manufacturer just by changing the type of solder and Flux they use.

I have a 14ltr that I use to haul oversized load with. Weighing up to 140k. I'm lucky to see 3.5 mpg sometimes. Even with a light load I'm only getting about 5mpg. I just had it rebuilt but I think my tune is the problem. It runs great and pulls hard but the Pyro stays around 900 degrees and it will jump up quickly if I don't keep the rpms up around 1750 to 1800 rpms. The turbo is a 1702 and it will boost 40psi and it'll hold it but then the Pyro will start to go above 900 degrees. Why advice on a tune and how much to do it? I've already spent more on this engine just trying to keep it together. It's blown 4 head gaskets over the last 6 years.

12.7 Detroit series 60 engines from Fitzgerald we've used average around 6 mpg. Is there something you are changing to get 7-8 mpg?

It’s got a lot to do with the driver if he is an aggressive driver then you’re not going to get 7 and 8 miles to the gallon I have owned three Siri 60 12.7 L Detroits and I have got as much as 9 1/2 and 10 miles to the gallon loaded light running flatland and keeping my foot out of the radiator.

@@tomhodge2565 we run them for years pulling vans. 5.5 to 5.8 fleet average is all we could get. We run all newer stuff now all paccar and it’s unreal how good the fuel mileage is. Kenworth T680’ and Pete 579’s. I don’t want a Detroit on my yard even if it’s just visiting. Lol. Not even a DD15. They are a nightmare. I’ve had 10 of those and they are trash

@@tomhodge2565 you right on the driver thing. When I drive I drive for fuel mileage. I can clock 11 plus mpg pulling a van with the kenworths I have. They cut the wind a little better I think than the 579’s and a little lighter weight. I really love my paccar Mx13 engines. The savings greatly outweigh and emission repairs they may have as high as fuel it.

Congratulations Lawrence and your hard working help Virginia 👏! Thanxs for getting these fine folks out there and id like to apologize to you all for the few idiots in the comments that shouldn't be allowed access to any sort of a keyboard. I think jealousy mixed with stupidity 🤔 causes alot of problems

Stay away from all these ‘repair shops’ they almost all scam, they will give you warranty for their work but will take months to redo their work and it comes faulty again. I’ve learned the lesson a hard way! When it comes to computer modules CPC or mcm buy from the dealer and forget about your problem!

Please get the girl a proper soldering extractor, which is used around 2-6 inches from her work. Look at Louis Rossmann soldering setup, or any other of us that do it daily.
