The biggest issue with AEW is that the prioritize the wrong things.
They spend so much time chasing star ratings and Best of the Year accolades, that they've devalued all their titles and gimmicks, and seemingly forgotten how to connect with the wider audience.
Swerve Strickland and Toni Storm got over by being engaging personas and characters. They should be the example to follow instead of trying to fill every episode of AEW television with 5 star matches.
there are 2 reasons why tony wont do smaller buildings now. perception and pride. if he suddenly scales back to small buildings weekly there will be a perception that the product is failing

Remember when AEW use to do Promo vids on Tuesdays on UA-cam promoting why we should watch Dynamite?
They do it on Wednesdays now with tony khan it’s called control center!!!

AEW need to start marketing to casual wrestling fans, that’s what they need to do.
That is exactly the reason why they collapsed, they went for more casual audiences with sports entertainment instead of keeping their focus on what brought them to the table in the first place. Casuals don't go for stuff that is made for casuals, casuals go for stuff they are told by friends which are hardcore fans what is good. Like children don't want to watch or play stuff made for children.

I disagree with this. They just need to market/advertise better, and have more promo packages explaining new debuts better. Otherwise, it's not THAT HARD to follow AEW Television.
What do casual fans want? If by casual fans, you mean people who watch WWE, that won't happen. They tried catering to them last year with disasterous results

Stop with these foreign talents everywhere, stop focusing on gymnastics, the weekly shows shouldn’t be about the in ring wrestling as that’s for the PPV.
Focus on characters and storytelling, not gymnastics and how many 5 star matches you can get.
Us casual fans just want a promotion (just 1 promotion) to be similar to the Attitude Era or Ruthless Aggression Era in style and presentation.
TNA was the closest to that but Dixie Carter had to fuck it all up.
Honestly, I didn’t even count the two women’s matches as two, because It’s the same story

The other thing on tonight‘s card that makes me question. Things is why are we getting the BCC versus FTR in a tag match tonight because this match should be happening at revolution or better yet big business in Boston and if you want to build for a match like that on either show Claudio versus Cash Wheeler Could be a perfect way to do that
I'm an NJPW fan mostly fascinated about the future, and hyped as hell about TNA's resurgence, watching WWE dominate every headline this year, and completely forgetting AEW exists.

AEW's main problem is that they have too many titles. Then you have ROH titles when nobody cares about those on their main show. It's too much wrestling, matches go super long & you barely have segments to watch where they build story lines. The wrestlers are look & feel the same with their matches being the exact same. A lot of the AEW wrestlers I can't even tell who they are or know them well.
Brian Cage is one of the best guys they have if he was booked as a badass! He can do everything and looks like a million bucks but Tony Khan hates guys with muscles! 😂
People AEW should have pushed: Wardlow in Cassidy spot, Jade with both womans belts, FTR running the tag division, House of Black, Miro and Sonny Kiss! They should have made Nyla Rose Sonny Kiss bodyguard and you would have gotten a MASSIVE LBGT following! Just saying...

@@SandMan1998 I disagree. The Womens Division ALWAYS needed work, and it wasn't much better with Jade around botching Big Boots.
Wembley was 72k! WWE two months smoked that with the 48k Rumble and the 52k Chamber! AEW been cold since Cody left!
part of the problem is that aew isnt new anymore, yeah its easy to sell out when its first time ever this or brand new that. you already addressed mcmahon in the video
I only watch Dynamite in AEW terms, and the only storyline I like at the moment is the world title picture, with Swerve, Hangman, and Joe. I think that I might just wait to Revolution. I don't enjoy the weekly shows.

No one’s denying that, but the problem is, it can’t be JUST him with all of the stacked talent that you have. Better long term and consistent storytelling through ALL of your shows will get people tuning in more every single week.

@JustAlyx IMO Athena shouldn't be on ROH, Tony Khan need to make ROH AEWs developmental system similar to what NXT is to WWE not a place to dump talent because of a bloated roster. ROH becoming developmental will benefit AEW in the long run because i want them to be less, not more reliant on former WWE guys and former NJPW guys, i want AEW to be largely carried by its own original stars that they built up, with their own performance center.
I personally don't have a problem if AEW somewhat gets back to their 2019-21 hype. What my problem is they are more wrestling match heavy instead of storyline heavy. Yeah WWE is Entertainment Heavy and they rely alot on storyline driven stuff. You can do storyline driven stuff in AEW,but you have to have something for EVERYBODY.

With AEW I feel like it's slowly getting back or somewhat maybe 70% back to their 2019-2021 hype but a main problem is mainly the presentation of some wrestlers to where if a non wrestling fan were to be interested in AEW abd wants to know what the Story is with Swerve and him being world champion abd why they should cheer for him to win the belt it'd be hard to explain why besides oh he wants to win the belt cause he wants to. Meanwhile someone like Cody I can easily explain it as Cody left WWE then returned many years later and wants to finish his story of doing something he didn't do in his first WWE run and that's doing something his father and never did in WWE and that's winning a World championship in WWE. I like AEW but it needs improvements
2 things I wanna add.
1.) I agree with JDFROMNY and Andrew Baydala when they said that WWE / HBK in particular will make Lexis King FKA Brian Pillman Jr an NXT champion in the next few months maybe by the end of the year, they have been building him, and giving him the platform to thrive and show what he can do and they have showcased him as one of the coolest characters in NXT right now which is something AEW was never able to do or never even tried to do with him.
2.) You know what they could've done and what AEW should've done Alyx? To continue this BCC vs CMLL feud why not have the BCC show up to the Fantasica Mania PPV which is the event CMLL were doing which is why they haven't showed recently, have the BCC show up at Fantastica Mania and cost these guys their match, and have them do a beat down on them during the event, and then on the Dynamite the same week or the next week, show what happened at the event. Is it great? No. But hey at least youre able to continue the storyline that you started, you'll get the BCC on the show without them being on the actual Dynamite show, and then do the same thing the next few weeks while the CMLL guys are there. Then when they can show up on Dynamite everyone will know what is happening because AEW showed clips of the BCC down in Mexico doing what they did to the CMLL guys. That's what they should've done. And not just stop this feud and have the BCC come out and say "we wanna fight so whatever tag team wants to fight come out here" and here comes out FTR

The Feeling Has Been Restored. He had a team and that team put him in a bad place. Dont listen to Bogo Max,Pat Buck or Jimmy Jacobs because if you do WWE bullshit you will always be a second rate WWE.
Cause sadly Women get more TV/Internet time in ROH than they do in AEW.
I will be a betting man here, even if Mercedes Mone isn't going to change the direction of AEW unless if they start telling Stories and making us care about the wrestlers in question and stop telling us to stop googling the wrestler
They've BEEN telling stories. That's not the issue. The REAL ISSUE is the lack of a full card being announced at least a week in advance. THAT'S why the shows have been doing bad Ticket Sales wise.
AEW will always be a far distant from WWE and as soon as y'all realize that the better off y'all will be. And stop acting like WWE still don't have their issues, cause they do.

Alyx how does AEW fix it? Someone tell me. Look at this AEW is going to struggle I feel no matter what good they do…they possibly signed 3 top tier agents Ospreay, Mercedes Mone, and Okada. No one is telling WWE they fumbled 3 free agents. I feel Triple H is riding the same wave TK had from 2019-2021. What do you do if your AEW going into your TV Rights deal? I don’t get fans not wanting to see AEW maybe it’s pricing I have no clue. Maybe it’s Cody leaving, maybe Punk, maybe it’s TK, or I have no clue anymore.
AEW problem is simple. Its called ROH , so keep it on ROH. Stop parroting EVERY crappy thing WCW and WWE have ever done that caused us to want an ALTERNATIVE. Best example. The glorious time in WWE history where Vince owned ECW and..........................How did that work out?

Well that explains it. It's been mainly a mess since Punk threw a hissy fit back in 2022. And it's been even a bigger mess since his hissy fit in 2023. So as an AEW fan, I'm hoping 2024 is the real that not just TK, but EVERYONE in AEW starts to get back up again.
