@@slumcanadian1488 That’s exactly how he was. Like 99% of people who are in prison are loud boisterous individuals who constantly beat their chests and are always trying to prove how tough they are. Struggle wasn’t like that, he was respectful to everyone and when he spoke you listened, even if you didn’t want to, even if you were a dumb ass 20 something year old who thought he knew everything (me) you still listened. I used to joke with my buddy Rios and call him the preacher because when things would go down he would “hold court” and speak in a way that just cut straight through all the tension. In Prison you have shot callers, key holders or whatever weird analogy that part of the country wants to call themselves, but basically the bosses of the yard and I wouldn’t call Struggle one of them cause those people cannibalize themselves, he was something more. I got moved around a lot, went to dozens of prisons all across the country, met 100’s of “key holders” and I cannot remember any of their names, but I never forgot Struggle. I want to be very clear, we weren’t friends and if he remembers me at all he probably remembers me as that loud mouth kid, but his words carried weight in my soul that took years to grab hold but grab hold they did and they inspired a change that is the only reason why I am free today.
I have told you this once struggle. You are an inspiration to people 100% proof that you can come from the bottom to the top no pun intended. Really wish you could come speak to my high school football team. You could make it serious impact on some young men. Day in day out you get this veteran through what he needs to get through. @@slumcanadian1488 That’s exactly how he was. Like 99% of people who are in prison are loud boisterous individuals who constantly beat their chests and are always trying to prove how tough they are. Struggle wasn’t like that, he was respectful to everyone and when he spoke you listened, even if you didn’t want to, even if you were a dumb ass 20 something year old who thought he knew everything (me) you still listened. I used to joke with my buddy Rios and call him the preacher because when things would go down he would “hold court” and speak in a way that just cut straight through all the tension.
In Prison you have shot callers, key holders or whatever weird analogy that part of the country wants to call themselves, but basically the bosses of the yard and I wouldn’t call Struggle one of them cause those people cannibalize themselves, he was something more. I got moved around a lot, went to dozens of prisons all across the country, met 100’s of “key holders” and I cannot remember any of their names, but I never forgot Struggle. I want to be very clear, we weren’t friends and if he remembers me at all he probably remembers me as that loud mouth kid, but his words carried weight in my soul that took years to grab hold but grab hold they did and they inspired a change that is the only reason why I am free today.
