Nomura is CONFIDENT in the fact that his fans are competent, and observant enough, to understand that he's OBLIGATED to say that to avoid legal issues. As well as issues that would inevitably arise at work, if he were too come out and say "Yes, this is my revenge"
And as know one knows the true story of Versus 13, he can implement as meant aspects into Verum Rex as he wants.
The fact that we see a one-to-one recreation of the car scene in BOTH endings is proof enough IMO.... IMHO...

Basically, Namora is going to recycle unused ideas from VS13 but not retell the story of VS13. Another way to see it is like an Alternate Universe fanfic. Some characters, ideas, themes, and settings get reused but the story is different.

I’m pretty sure that won’t happen. Remember when he said Kingdom Hearts didn’t need Final Fantasy characters anymore in the same game where Verum Rex was featured? Yeah, totally not an excuse to not have Noctis in the game despite being the #1 requested character to appear in KH3 according to Famitsu. I still remember when he said Noctis and Sora were basically his children but now XV is a thing, he doesn’t want to use him anymore, thus Verum Rex was created.

About the question in the end: i think the new game will be about yozoras backstory which will also explain his ties to sora since he seems to know more about it then sora.

Yo I really think that there is going to be something very important involving Sora and Yozora and being the King of Hearts or something. Sora is always depicted in artwork on a throne with a crown, you earn crowns for him to wear for 100% completion, the crown is his symbol on the chess board, etc. I'm so absolutely certain there's something critical (ha) about "Verum Rex" meaning "True King" and Sora and Yozora's names being connected. It makes me so excited.

Id still think Sora needs a full mastery of darkness like the Mark of Mastery requirement (even though Aqua wasnt, and Kairi’s isnt capable of it 😒). Imagine, like a Pure Unity Form instead of Oblivion’s Darkness OR Oathkeeper’s Light Forms. 😛
The reason why he is connected to a crown is because he was the king in eraquus and xehanorts chess game. Sora was the leading person and therefore the most important chess figure: the king. (Especially when everyone dies before the last fight except sora or in remind overall) Ofc now you could ask yourself if the verum rex/true king thing has a hidden message to some extent but we know literally nothing about that so meh.
@@marius972 That may be all it means, but this imagery was in here from before the chess game was a thing. Maybe Nomura had this all in his mind before, maybe not, maybe there is something deeper. I think so, and I'd like to see it revealed like the fan theory about The Guardian.
Kind of sounds like Nomura is trying to build a story arc revolving around Kings.
Quick mini theory: What if the secret boss endings still lead to the same out come regardless of winning or losing against yazora. I only say this because I remember back in the first kh, it didn’t really matter (plot wise) if you beat leon or not because sora still passes out or is defeated and the plot continues the way it was supposed to, so what if it’s the same idea here too with the yazora good and bad ending, both would result in sora losing and being crystalized. This would make sense with the secret ending for base kh3 (riku’s dream with him and him in shibuya) starts with sora waking up in shibuya. This could possibly lead to a longer cut scene in a future kh game

It makes sense going by Kh lore Ava is missing at end of the secret ending with the other Fortellers n lucu/brig/zigbar.
Also Kari how she end up on Destiny Islands that was never explained. In Kh:BBS we see Kari with her grandma in Radiant Garden
Then fast forward to Kh 1 she’s on Destiny islands Something must have happened in those 10 years . Also Aqua past her power to Kari why didn’t we she her as a wilder before Kh3. Also Ven his connection to Union Cross how will that be explained in the next game.
I think we are going to get a game that can go into his backstory a little more.. Something about the line "I went through some trails" makes me believe we are getting that.
A KH title that focus on a non-keyblade weilder?! That never happened before HMK. Can't say it is possible honestly! We may got Riku in COM and org13 in days, but the main character was still a keyblade weilder.
Well yozora can steal your keyblade (temporarily) while fighting him, after all. So who knows what else is going to be revealed about him

I really like the Verum Rex concept, Nomura is really creative man.
Nomura usually answers questions literally and this sounds like he answered literally
"This is literally not Versus XIII. We are not making a game called Versus XIII. Versus XIII's protagonist was named Noctis. Verum Rex's protagonist is Yozora, and he has white hair. As you can see, they are two very different people and therefore they cannot be the same games."

I would love a game focused on Yozora and the Verum Rex lore/world.
Here’s my theory: Verum Rex is a video game developed by Luxord, using Yozora’s memories of actual events because of their “ahem”connection. As for why? I don’t know yet.

I think the next game is a Kairi & Riku one from the 1st new team (2021). Meanwhile, the 2nd new team, if it isn't working on some ultimate X [chi] era HD catch-up game or one focusing on Luxu/Luxu & Foretellers, will work on a game pushing the Sora & Yozora relationship further (2022; 20th anniversary). It'd be nice if all the while the main KH3 Osaka team is forging ahead with KH4 plans to have a timely release after the two non-numbered titles (like late 2023 or early - mid 2024 or even 2025).
I have a good feeling that Namora just said this so Square Enix wouldn’t kick his butt.

if you want my take on this, long long ago it was said that kh3 would be the end of sora and his friends story. if he stays true to that then yozora could very well be the next main character and having him meet sora in a secret ending would be a great way to introduce him and begin a new kingdom hearts game, it could be that simple or there could be conspiract with the fact that the art and the car scene is basically versus in kingdom heart but it could just be them finally using those resources for an actual project instead of scrapping it all.
Verum Rex may not be Versus 13, but I still want it to be. Imagine XV with the same fun story between the friends but with a more fleshed our main plot and romance with Stella/Luna.

If we think about 15 and how the similarities are of Yozora and Noctis, and then Luxord being basically the Ignis character to Yozora...based off of what how these characters act, what if Demyx is/was to Yozora as to what Prompto is to Noctis? As what Xemnas said in the Keyblade Graveyard about the mystery of the members 9,10,11, and 12...since Elrena and Laurium are a duo, what if in the Verum Rex dimension, Luxord and Demyx are the two that bridges it together with the Kingdom Hearts realm? Or even ties time and space dimensions between a a time displacement that makes Sora, MoM, and Yozora the same entity through the definitions of Dawn, Twilight, and Dusk through split realities based off of the split realities of the abuse of the power of waking, the first keyblade war during the MoM’s childhood, and also Brain’s split through becoming the virus and finishing his goal in the unfinished story of union cross

This interview makes it sound Nomura wanted to show the new Kingdom Hearts project with Yozora in E3. Obviously they can't do that, but they might showcase it in a PlayStation State of Play.

Right.. Then he used several homages from versus 13. Such as the waking up from car scene from 2011 trailer and the unused concept of confusion of dream and reality sequence that Sora and Yozora went through.
Surely he can't say 'directly' to us despite this whole Verum Rex thing is a huge homage of Versus 13.
All I’m saying is that we need a game where we have a few more Keyblade wielders become masters. The only ones we have are Riku, Mickey, Aqua, and I think Terra (a bit unsure if he is or not) we still have Ventus, Roxas, Lea, Xion, Kairi, (possibly) and Terra. We gotta get the numbers up
Rex saw sora as yozora. He saw him because his heart was tied to yazoras because he was playing his game and enjoyed it. Yozora is the third person in soras heart. And that’s why Rex saw him as such
As much as I really want to get to know Yozora, I don't wanna know TOO MUCH about him. To me, making a badass character (like Yozora or even Auron from Final Fantasy X) and having a few things explained about the character is good, but at the same time leaving most things inconspicuous. It leaves more mystery to the character, and at the same time he's still a badass and awesome! I REALLY hope Nomura doesn't make Yozora's backstory too convoluted. I hope it's simple to understand Yozora and leaving more mystery to the character too. Out of ALL the character designs Nomura has created over the years, I personally put Yozora in my top 3 favorites! Next to Sora & Noctis! PLEASE NOMURA! Don't mess up Yozora's backstory!
Since Nomura only knows the Versus XIII story, who would know if the Verum Rex story is XIII?

I figured it out guys.... Nomura is writing his own pulp fiction story. Noctis, Yozora, Sora....it's all different characters played by the same person.

I just want to know why Yozora looks like Riku (or Riku resembles Yozora). I'm actually surprised Sora didn't notice. They have similar attire and hair, but one with a more muted color scheme, facial features and eye color. Then again, Yozora did say that that's not how he really looks, so Sora could have something to do with that. There's also the Verum Rex "trailer" from the Toy Box world. Okay. You have my attention, Nomura...
