What a great way to do just a little conversion on a cheap trap. This will help a lot of new trappers as well as a bunch of experienced guys that have a pile of #1’s lying around.

An Arkansas Trapper thank you for watching. I can't take credit for it. It was printed in a book way back in the day by the great Bill Kindervater

So simple yet genius. Thanks Dale, will definitely be modifying all my #1's. Keep the endless stream of knowledge flowing. A lot of the stuff I see on your channel, I will be using in our Trapper Education Courses for sure. Assuming that's alright with you.

You can run a drag on say 6 ft of Steve. I dont have to here . I can usually get a stake in to hold here. Some times here though you can't get a stake in because of bed rock. I appreciate you watching

Great video, you haven’t posted a video that I have not saved. Can’t thank you enough.
I’ve modified a couple of my long springs and just love it. Always wanted to do it just figured I was too new to know what’s what or except-able. For me, setting seems so much easier. I’m a long spring fan from the start. I would like to ask; this mod bumps a #1 to let’s say a 1.5, is that incremental increase consistent as you move up trap size? Will a 1.5 now have the hold of a #2 and so on…
Again thanks for all you do, I’m better at this because of you.

Mitch 1st off thank you for watching these videos. 2nd I'm glad they're helping you some. 3rd I assume the modification you made was moving the chain off the spring to the frame? If you did? Then yes you will gain some holding power in the trap. Not sure that you gain that much, but any is better than none. I'm not certain you'll gain any in the bigger sizes because of the fact that they already have 2 springs working for you. Hope this answers your questions

@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 thanks for the reply. Ahh, forgot all about the additional spring on the larger long springs, new guy mistake. I will be moving the chains on my #0 - 1.5 for sure. I had moved the chain to the center of a 1.5 but just didn’t like bedding it. Saw your video, made the change and for me it works. Just feels good all around.
On another note, what would you suggest as a long distance lure to get a (grey)foxes attention? Been watching it for some time, just can’t bring it in close. I’m located in northern Alabama…. Thanks

In your country id recommend my Fox River call #1. It's a rodent based lure with just a touch of skunk to give it some lift. Works well on all predators. If you'd like to order some you can call or text me at 319-217-0656 or email me at dalebillingsley80@gmail.com thank you. I appreciate you watching

Todd strodeck had something similar a while back about chain placement ,found it quite interesting how it can help where you anchor a trap ,that would probably help on them single under springs to.

There will be some of the information that you're looking for in those videos. I will try to do some more of those kinds of videos and go more in depth. Thanks for watching these. I appreciate it
