Soak your seeds overnite in warm water. It really helps them to germinate. When you plant them in the ground make sure the water you use is warm. Works for me. It also helps to clip off the ears on the wider side of the seeds with a finger nail clipper. Good luck.

While gourds are pretty easy to grow, it's best to soak seeds and clip them before planting. Better to start early in starter pots and then plant four in a slight mound so you don't get water rot - it takes up to two weeks to germinate. Cull to two plants max per mound (on opposite sides) or they will compete. The gourds will grow as planted in this video, but my guess is they will compete, the shells will be thin, and some of the fruit will be lost during growth. That said - the arbor will be nice looking and fun to walk through.

I grew birdhouse gourds among my sunflowers on a trellis fence this year. The gourds didn't even sprout until July. But then, they got going and did well. I had powdery mildew on the vines, so I sprayed with Neem oil and that got rid of it. Now they are drying in my garage window. Can't wait to make birdhouses out of them!

I have been growing gourds for a few years now and just love them. They definitely are happiest and best hanging from a tall beautiful arbor like that. When it is covered and they hang down it's wonderful to walk through them.

I started my gourds indoors, then transplanted them outdoors. It's been about 3 weeks since the sprouted, but I noticed they are still small. The leaves are not too large and the long stem seems like it's drooping to the ground. Some even look like they are wilting away. Am I watering too much?
I started them indoors in April and here we are in May.

Bottle gourds are naturally bitter and are not really ment to be eaten but you can soak the gourd in water or coat it in wax if you’re making bottles or other stuff

Alright what if I don’t give my plant any support like just let the plant go off on its own without support to climb?
