Wow that is amazing! That was my first motorcycle and I have a lifetime of memories from it and I bet you I put 100k miles on it and it was a great built bike
I had one when I was 10, the bike had been sitting in my folks shed for 20 something years, the other day I got it out put some fuel in it and started like it was last used yesterday. Great little bikes
That is absolutely gorgeous I have on original bike but my muffler and carb are the only non original parts and min has ben road lots but still original tires paint seat .seat is missing cover and the paint is worenbut I don't want to re paint it . You have a gem
Oh..how I wanted one of these, and oh how my parents did not want me to have one. And how I winged and bitched about. I remember watching with insane envy, even as I couldn't even ride a bike, my 15 year old buddies burning down the tracks in the forests north of Melbourne or on suburban grassy lanes. Finally, aged 30 I got a bike.
Why does it have a mirror perch on the front handbrake? I just bought a 75 off an original owner an it has a tacho and Speedo drive but swears it's an xr75? I want to build it correct the engine is black and there is no charger coil or space for a battery someone explain please! I want to build it right!
I have an all original ‘74 xr75. I thought the same thing when I looked at the front wheel hub and saw speedo gears greased and all in the hub. I did research and asked around and found the answer. The predecessor to the xr75 (first year was ‘73) was the sl70. Sl70’s were potentially street legal so they could be ordered with perches that had mounts for mirrors and wheel hubs ready for Speedo cable. When they started producing xr75’s they used up left over inventory parts of discontinued sl70’s to build the early 75’s off the production lines. Do the research, you’ll see. If based on your serial numbers your bike is an early model off the assembly line it’s more than likely it has some of these interchangeable parts. Also, If you paid attention, the gas tank on the first year model ‘73 xr75 is an sl70 tank with different paint graphics. Exact same tank. Good luck with your rebuild and I hope this helps.
Shame that no young kid as got to ride it, after all thats what it was made for, I prefer to buy items that have been enjoyed and have a little character. shame.
@@350willy Actually i do know what i am talking about. I own a K1 and a K4, so i have the same model XR75 as you. Been repairing, nut and bolt restorations and collecting motorcycles for decades. Your bike does not present in "as new" condition. 1/ Tyres are worn, made evident by the lack of new tyre nibs anywhere. 2/ Engine casings patina do not match each other. 3/ Alloy tappet cover has mismatched brown dirt stains yet it is claimed it has never seen the dirt. 4/ Tool marks on fasteners. 5/ Most fasteners (except motor) are not zinc coated or galvanized on an XR75. 6/ Rusty nuts and bolts (fasteners) appear touched up with silver paint. 6/ Torn replacement seat wrapping. 7/ Brand new aftermarket Handlebars and levers do not match bikes overall patina. 8/ Fork paint scratched/dodgy. 9/ Risers painted black or aftermarket. I could keep going but have waisted enough time on you, YOU ARE DEBUNKED!
Indestructible machine! This was my first dirt bike and we beat the life out of that thing. Great great bike.

Why was it never used?
Класный мопед!!!
wtf how much
The kill switch is always on the right, why is this one on the left?
I can assure you, the switch is on the left , at least on the 1977. I got one for Christmas in 1976 and still have it.
I have a 78 and the kill switch is on the left

Nice try, you can buy those seats new, they come wrapped in plastic.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. Fortunately your opinion on the authenticity of the bike matters very little to me.
