At 03:01 , Cyst #6 should be named "Smothering Darkness" and not "Aerial Ace". Everything else remains the same, just a small typo in the text. Sorry about that! I've used the YT editor to remove the text, but it'll take a while for it to process. Additionally, if you can only see one Cyst on the map, go to where the map marker begins (at the entrance to the zone from the previous zone) and there should be two birds. You can interact with them to toggle the alternate Cyst for that location.

feel that, I was so confused when the triumph registered each clear of blooming as a unique boss when i've only seen the ogre boss. so now I don't even know which area or bosses I'm missing because I'm missing 4 motes.
@cheydy184 if I had to guess, it'd be the meatball in the blooming. His is disabled because he was just s l i n g i n g it across the map when he died. And it would softlock your progress.

My account is now soft locked on this exotic quest till bungie can patch this bug. is not only the meatball, i just did the arc wizard boss and lost all my motes too, i have killed all the bosses (i just noticed i have the triumphs) and i didn't have all the 17 motes
Thank you SO MUCH for showing the starting point to search for Smothering Darkness. I got lost using another channel's guide and found yours much more helpful.
For anyone currently stuck on the last step: Koftiks has currently been disabled due to a bug where he'd delete the rest of your motes, should be able to kill him, and therefore finish the quest, in an update soon (hoping tomorrow). Also, if you want to track your boss kills, go into triumphs, the pale heart, world, exploration, and they'll be in there. For me, I had to kill them all the amount of times the triumph stated, so it wasnt just a one and done.
For those stuck on the last mote, this worked for me as of today. I put my motes into the bank, just guessed that I needed the meatball mote like everyone else and on the next blooming overthrow he spawned and drop the final primordial mote. Dont know if the spawn was just luck and same with the final mote dropping but it did work regardless, best of luck out there!

Just got the AR: 1. Don’t do the overthrow with a group, solo it. The boss spawning is based on team members I suppose. Once I started doing solo, I got all the motes. 2. Extremely grindy: get all the region chests: 9 encryptions; when doing micah quests, get the 6 encyptions as well; you will be doing overthrow anyway during micah quests so it should be 6 motes I think. Do overthrow 3 more times, should be 9. Then traveler vision motes. This was a nightmare
For anyone having the exotic mote not drop at the meatball, walk along the walls ! i thought it had taken all my mote and not dropped me the exotic like many but i heard the sound of an engram near a wall and when i got close it picked up the exotic mote, its probably a hitbox issue making the exotic go inside the walls

It's actually extremely bugged, I have 16 motes, killed all 9 bosses (triumph confirms that) and collected all 8 traveler's lights (triumphs confirms that) and it says I have 16.... I GUESS 9+8=16 I FUCKING LOVE BUNGIE
I killed all the bosses (aka I have all the associated overthrow boss triumphs completed) and have 16 motes but I’ve been grinding for a couple hours cycling between each area but my final one has yet to drop. I got all the traveler collectibles, all the keys and the legendary khvostov, everything should be fine and just work lol. I swear, this game’s bugs are just the worst sometimes.
Bro holy shit the meatball boss (Koftiks) was bugged so bad for me, but I took a look at Reddit and after 5 (yes, entirely 5) attempts back to back, I got it. Reddit suggestion: put notes in the vault, once you get your 16 and are starting the hellish task of fighting the meatball, put your mites in the vault. After, the bungee suggestion: return to orbit if no more drops. After putting notes in vault and re attempting boss, if nothing drops, go to orbit after immediately opening the chest, then return to the blooming and do it again. The very attempt after doing this, I got my mote. 👍🏾

It’s funny, yesterday I said the same thing and I got chewed out in the comments section. Like, if it takes 5 separate quests and a bajillion hours to complete, I think I have the right to complain. Yeah, a “grind” is a compassionate understatement.

Just so everyone knows: the taken servitor boss has been temporarily disabled to prevent a soft lock on this quest, although I don’t see the point to that as it ironically soft locks everyone else out of it anyways lol

Doesy anyone know how to break the roots in the Cyst? I already have 6/6 ghosts so im juts going back for the hidden encryptions. But I cant seem to spawn the relic sword from the statues.
How do you summon each unique final boss on the overthrow? Do I just keep repeating the event and I'll get a different boss? Or it rotates on a timely basis?
I made the unfortunate mistake of having my inventory full when I opened 3 region chest. Now I'm missing 3 lost encryption bits and can't get the weapon until Bungie does something about it... I have everything but those 3 bits.
Mote of light drops from unique bosses, if you have beaten the wizard hive, you need to defeat the other ones. one drop from each 3 bosses in each areas. Wizard Hive, Titan Hive, Hunter Hive, Taken Minotaur, Taken Orge, "Meatball" , Stasis Subjugator, Strand Subjugator, and the Tormentor. You cant defeat the same one to get another mote of light. 8 + 9 = 17; the triumph is not what you want to get for the bosses of the overthrow to complete.
Bungie must've disabled the exotic mote dropping, I did the blooming bosses 2nd and left the impasse bosses till last and as of yet still no exotic mote
I have done everything, and i have the big mote, but the chest is still non interactable with. Any fixes? (Userful info: i did the traveller balls part without knowing before... )

Redo bosses, they'll drop you the mote if you missed it, I missed one and was able to kill the boss again and get the gun

Apparently the motes aren't guaranteed, only 60% instead of 100% so you're gonna have to try again.

@@popycorn300 I’ve ruled out the Impasse at least. I wanna give up but I also just wanna see if I literally have to kill every single boss again. Definitely not the meatball, killed that one twice again and got nothing.
@@MiniMuni69 Same for me, I've got 16 motes and all the traveler balls including the triumph for all the bosses killed. I'm fairly certain the Meatball didn't give me a mote.... i get the feeling that boss is pretty bugged.
Wish there was a way to tell which boss mote you're missing instead of having to run them all again... God they've really.ripped the arse out of this one. The exotic better be damn well worth it

thanks for this guide . I have validated all the triumphs of the season, however I am at 16 particles of light I do not know where the 17th is. I did all 8 in open world + all the bosses and now nothing drops. Any idea where the last one might be??

Bungo disabled Taken Servitor due to some damned "issuses". So I got 16/17 motes and wait for patch "some day far far away"...

It’s funny, yesterday I said the same thing and I got chewed out in the comments section. Like, if it takes 5 separate quests and a bajillion hours to complete, I think I have the right to complain. Yeah, a “grind” is a compassionate understatement.

The mote DOES drop. Inside left of boss (once he dies - wall directly behind him), rock pile. Boom.
How the hell do I get the Slayer Cyst to show up? I know it showed up once when I wasn't paying attention, but now can't seem to get it to show (would help for the smothering darkness one too) 🤔

well at 6th Cyst after i clear it i still have lava and i cant get the final encyption :3 thank you bungie , so much fun

@@brandonpollock5553 I get it from other mission , the one that you enter from other side and there is no lava at all , I think it might be mission from ground to kill some boss inside or from getting the memory item
I can't collect the traveler at the waterfall in the lost city, but that's exactly what I'm missing.

Just so everyone knows: the taken servitor boss has been temporarily disabled to prevent a soft lock on this quest, although I don’t see the point to that as it ironically soft locks everyone else out of it anyways lol

For mote 5 the way u went is blocked off for me like its a rock infront of it any idea why?😅
I can’t tell you how many times if done overthrown and still haven’t gotten the exotic mote😂 it’s very done it at least 12 times
It’s weird I got a triumph that says I defeated all 3 bosses from the 3 locations but I still only have 16 motes , I collected all 8 you gave too find too smh I don’t remember fighting that servitor though so I’m guessing I have to keep trying till he pops up 😩😩 but I had enough of that damn event

This is the funniest exotic I've ever used, I can't stop laughing at the idiotic noises it makes when it bounces, what a journey from picking up the original Khvostov 10 years ago as a kid till now
Doesy anyone know how to break the roots in the Cyst? I already have 6/6 ghosts so im juts going back for the hidden encryptions. But I cant seem to spawn the relic sword from the statues.

I got all the mini-travelers and done all the bosses, yet I still miss one mote. maybe a boss didn't drop it?

How do you summon each unique final boss on the overthrow? Do I just keep repeating the event and I'll get a different boss? Or it rotates on a timely basis?

I made the unfortunate mistake of having my inventory full when I opened 3 region chest. Now I'm missing 3 lost encryption bits and can't get the weapon until Bungie does something about it... I have everything but those 3 bits.
The game decided to get rid of my 17 motes of light so i guess i just dont get the only thing i actually wanted from this dlc, thanks bungie
It turns it into one exotic mote, if that didn't dropped then the game literally just fucked you outta the drop till they fix it
Mote of light drops from unique bosses, if you have beaten the wizard hive, you need to defeat the other ones. one drop from each 3 bosses in each areas. Wizard Hive, Titan Hive, Hunter Hive, Taken Minotaur, Taken Orge, "Meatball" , Stasis Subjugator, Strand Subjugator, and the Tormentor. You cant defeat the same one to get another mote of light. 8 + 9 = 17; the triumph is not what you want to get for the bosses of the overthrow to complete.
Bungie must've disabled the exotic mote dropping, I did the blooming bosses 2nd and left the impasse bosses till last and as of yet still no exotic mote
I have done everything, and i have the big mote, but the chest is still non interactable with. Any fixes?

how did you become koftiks noss ?? we farm the third day there and we dont have seen this boss everytime it will be the other 2 bosses
they've disabled koftiks for now due a bug where he'd delete the rest of your motes. should be able to kill him, and therefore finish the quest, in an update soon (hoping tomorrow)
