EVs can be and are fun in their own way, just need to get that “lack of noise” and petrolhead-y thing out of your head, you and so many other people would much happier and you can continue to enjoy cars. If all you look for is noise, you might as well blast it on repeat through a speaker, not operating a machine that needs handling to keep you safe.
i love this thing and i also love the fact that it's electric, although... i would also love if they made a special or one version with the engine from the 911 rsr, i think the rsr scream matches this car a lot as well
The fact that it got no V12, V8 or even V6 makes it boring. You could argue for that for a daily EV but for a race car, fun is being taken away and this cannot be replaced.
So the tesla fanboys are convinced all of the ice manufacturers are behind tesla by at least 5 to 10 years. 🤣 they clearly haven't seen these manufacturers racing teams. This stuff will trickle down to road cars as they become cheap enough. Look at this battery, in terms of kg per kWh it's half the weight of a model s. plaids battery.
well the leading point of tesla is to actually mass deliver these batteries. Rimac (those are probably the ones in here) is ahead of tesla in terms of technology but they aren't as vost effective as Tesla. German companies just started to really try EV's and not have some fun in their freetime like id. cars from VW. But tesla's time as the leader is already written in stone - obviously just look on the scale of german, japanese or even american giants (in real life and not on wallstreet paper). tesla therefore is still the leader of the supercharge network in the next years and their software and overall design to price is pretty good which attracts many. German's have currently really just the bigass luxurious cars
Tesla is and will be the industry leader for a long time. Brands like Porsche and Audi like to show of their concept tech with gigs like this. Tesla on the other hand is working on some far crazier shit than this while not showing. And also the tech shown in this video will take years to fully trickle down in road cars. You also need to look at cost, half of the stuff in this car use such expensive materials that they will take a long time for economies of scale to apply, if not at all. A concept car's battery vs a true and tested production car's battery isnt exactly fair either. Tesla is developing new batteries too, dubbling there energy density
Race Cars don't prioritize 0-60 times. It's much more important to be able to carry as much speed as possible through corners for as long as possible. The Tesla can't do that. Even It's single Nurburgring lap suffered a lot due to how much braking and coasting was needed.
@@matthiaslenzen460 wrong, car and driver and motor trend proved the plaid can do 1.9s 0-60 with rollout on a sticky surface. Jay Leno got a 9.2 1/4mile in one of the first ever customer plaids last summer. So the plaid does in fact live up to its acceleration claims.
@@johnathanmoyer2375 that is only important for a track car, not on the road. The Tesla model S plaid destroys anything on the road, even above 100 mph, while seating 5 people comfortably
@@tuurschellekens5385 Well, then comparisons to the plaid are useless, then, as the Mission R ISN'T A ROAD CAR. And anyways, I'd rather drive a track toy with excellent suspension around twisty back roads than drive a 5000 lb drag monster in a straight line.
Don't forget that all electric Prosche had a Rimac electric system in it. They are the electric future of the automobile and Porsche saw and took the chance of this advantage
I love the look, performance and technology, but for it (or any electric, really) to have a future in racing they need to think of a solution for the absence of thunderous engines. It's the noise that makes for excitement in racing, at least in the long stretches when there's no real action on the track.
never did I imagine as a kid that future cars would sound like the RC cars I played with as a child. That is a dam fine looking car but I still hate electric and the idea that all vehicles need to be electric in the future. Choice is always the best option.
I agree with you on options. However, the issue is it's hard to beat electric on performance. And that's what drivers care about who are in it to win. Personal taste on sound, heat, and efficiency aside. You would think petrolheads who are constantly in pursuit of quicker cars with more torque and acceleration would be drooling over these incredible new daily driver EVs and electric race cars.
this is honestly one of the best looking cars ive seen in my whole life good grief its so beautiful :O ! i need to get my money up for when they make a road going iteration of this magnificent piece of art
The design is amazing. The sound is AWFUL. I wonder if that is on purpose for the concept car because the engineers know petrolheads like sound...I hope they can design that out of performance electric cars. In any case, it needs to be fixed.
It's amplified through an external speaker, just like the horrible sounding mach e 1400 concept by Vaughn gitten. Irl without the speaker on you would only hear some gear whine and tire scrubbing.
@@4literv6 I hope we look back and see how ridiculous it is to have fake noise coming out of a speaker. I can kinda/maybe understand if the sound is cool but this is like nails on a chalk board. He said he needs to wear ear plugs! I just don't understand the thought behind this and who would prefer it this way.
@@FlyingDutchmannnnn why? Combustion engined 4&6cyl cars have used fake speaker generated noises for well over a decade now. Even the mighty v8s are artificially enhanced inside with noise added due to noise regulations outside in various countries. 😀 I get your drift though. I'd prefer hearing just the gears whine, stators whirring and tires gripping and slipping. Over that screech it's emninating so awfully.
@@4literv6 Yes I also find it ridiculous that it's ever become a thing on ANY car. At it's best it only amplifies the existing sounds of the engine, not creating new noise. But on most performance cars that we all love, the fake sound is minimal if at all. The V6 Mustang crowd probably doesn't care as much.

I wonder if they achieve the high regenerative power by having a biiiig capacitor that then charches the battery while you're on the throttle again. They say that it can charge at 350kW but brake regeneratively with 800kW. I suppose they push all that energy into a capasitor. There is only so much energy you will get out of braking from high speed, so the capacitor will probably be fully discharged again when approaching the next braking zone. 800kW is only less than 2,5x more than 350kW so it will take roughly 2,5x the time used for braking to transfer the energy from the capacitor to the battery. This would keep the battery cooler and keep it from being more brutally charged than 350kW. However it would need a sophisticated battery management system and a big capacitor. My 2015 Mazda 3 does something similar with the normal electric system used for auxiliary things. It disables the generator when on the throttle and when coasting it switches the generator to "overdrive" and pumps a lot of energy into a big capacitor, which then slowly charges the standard lead battery.

What a car! Looks amazing and makes me less sad to be combustion engines go!
Agreed. No emotion without ICE, just sayin'
EVs can be and are fun in their own way, just need to get that “lack of noise” and petrolhead-y thing out of your head, you and so many other people would much happier and you can continue to enjoy cars. If all you look for is noise, you might as well blast it on repeat through a speaker, not operating a machine that needs handling to keep you safe.
fyck ice cars,noisy and polution
i love this thing and i also love the fact that it's electric, although... i would also love if they made a special or one version with the engine from the 911 rsr, i think the rsr scream matches this car a lot as well
The fact that it got no V12, V8 or even V6 makes it boring. You could argue for that for a daily EV but for a race car, fun is being taken away and this cannot be replaced.
that design is absolutely amazing, i really hope they create the production version
It actually gets better and better looking the more you look at it.
I don't care what you say but those electric motor sound just as beautiful as a gasoline car😍😍😍
(Note: i am hardcore JDM car enthusiast)
Honestly, Porsche is just off the hook! The design, the innovation, the philosophy, everything, it’s just incredible
Imagine this in a racing game like forza horizon 5 or the new forza motor sport. Great for a hill climb and maybe car pack to buy. (I would)!
I assume for endurance racing they’ll have to have 2 cars for a team, or develop some sort of quick change system for the battery pack.
Impressive Car for sure, but it sounds like an army of Giant Angry Mosquitoes
Lmao
We still need Chris to do videos like this .
This could be a amazing new edition to the 911 lineup
Sign me up. I’d love a street version of this.
Porsche has outdone them selfs once again! Love this thing!!! :O
0 to 60 miles in 2.5 s, wow, that’s insane. On the other hand, a four door tesla plaid do the 0 to 60 miles in 1.9 s.
Thats what Tesla claims
My mind:Proto 08(roblox jailbreak)
exactly
This thing looks like fun. The gap between useable and total capacity was particularly interesting.
You would think petrolheads who are constantly in pursuit of quicker cars with more torque and acceleration would be drooling over these incredible new daily driver EVs and electric race cars.
that sound is way too loud
this is honestly one of the best looking cars ive seen in my whole life good grief its so beautiful :O !
i need to get my money up for when they make a road going iteration of this magnificent piece of art
I get your drift though.
It has straight cut gearing that's why it whines. It's not fake.
We need a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap in this with an on-board camera ASAP :D
❤I love this video at large but starting the YEAR with a GREAT INVESTMENT should be the wisest thing every individual should do. I will advice everybody who is into crypto to stick with ETH and BTC as much as you can guys.If everyone sells when it starts to fall, which at one point it will, the dream maybe lost because of it being too volatile for companies to get behind.

I want 919 hypercar concept to be limited production road car it looks gorgeous
1500kg and 1000HP, now that's a proper EV! How long will it take until we get any road-legal EV with those specs?
Maybe the next gen Taycan
They have created an absolute MONSTER :O
That whine is just beautiful, really futuristic
Nice to see it's compact.
Love the proportion of the tires. Sick of seeing modern cars with rubber strips being used with the tires.
This is by far one of the best looking vehicles I’ve seen in a long while
The car looks surreal and georgeous. Wow!
The proportions are perfect on this car. Utterly gorgeous.
Porsche Engineers are always way a head than other companies engineers ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Jesus Christ this car is absolutely stunning to look at. I can’t imagine what the next Porsche hyper car is gonna be like.
I'd watch a series of these race
That sound is phenomenal!
This is the most exciting car I've seen in recent times! 😍
