I'm a 2024 undergraduate.Was regretting all these days for not joining fall 2024 , I had a admit (from top 50 MSCS).
Guess it was a right decision.
I am also thinking about postponing my plan to do MS in USA. Surprised to see what is happening in USA . It used to be amazing country for Indian .So many students used to get high paying tech job .
Don't come to US to study for entire 2025 even if you have any shitty experience. You won't get jobs for sure due to recession and much of your family savings would be wasted in the education fees.

Experience is absolutely not required if you are coming for a PhD with good educational background at a good university.

But what about research papers? Or lack of it.
Oversupply of students in IT. Lot of experienced people are finding hard to find jobs here because of massive layoffs. Masters seat is easy to get but getting job is very hard in current scenario. If you have limited money you are being warned for your own benefit.

But in short.
Supply chain and Data experience is great to have because there are transferrable skills which you can use in Product roles and you can choose industry which have product roles.

I think it will be enough from your internships - they can mention your adaptation skills. Don’t need necessarily Robotics based internship - obviously nice to have but not needed. Assuming you have strong reason for pivot which you explain in SOP

its not the number of years really - its the quality of work ex. You can have `1 year and great impact at the company + accomplished building good skills and on the flip side you can have 4 years on paper and still did nothing really great.
