Would your old original spear work to get you to point A to point B ? I was going to do the same thing but Toyota said it’s fine as long as your not putting it into 4 wheel and just using it to get to a shop to get your old tire fixed . Just wondering if he was telling me the truth thanks
would you be able to bend the parts that are touching in order for it to fit better? and if you have an air compressor, would letting more air out of the (spare) tire also help? thanks for posting the video.
When you push onto the tire does it moves a little I just put my new oem wheel I bought as a spare and it paddles when I push it with my hands is this normal please someone let me know
Kayak Fishing SoCal mines a 1996 i have size 265-75-15 tires down there and it paddles when i hit them with my hands is that normal sucks that there is no bracket to hold it on the side so it wouldnt move
You could but this is a permanent solution that’s more seamless. It’s out of the way and you can forget about it until you need it . I use my bed quite often and having a spare back there would get in the way.
Why have a full size matching spare? I take 4000 mile trips I’d rather not deal with trying to find a matching replacement 1000 miles from home at some small town in the middle of no where.
@@SoCalOutdoors JK. Thanks for sharing, I actually didn’t know it was possible to get one to fit. Wish I would have known when I had 285’s. Now it’s OBA, tore plugs, and the will of the Lord to get me home.
@socaloutdoors what size socket did you use for those 4 bolts and what size drill for the new holes? Thanks for the post.
No footage of the actual mods please advice?
I’ll redo the video in a week or two with better details.
Do you recall if this reduced your clearance in the back. Did you measure before and after? Thanks 🙏
Hi sorry I did not but the tire is hanging about level to the low point of the tow receiver, hope that helps.

Yes it’s fine, I’d like a full size because I do 1000+ mile road trips and since it fits why not?

Yeah just bend that thingy that the leaf pack mounts to...
2nd gen and 3rd gen tacomas all have the same frame,
285/75/16 doesn’t fit for me :(
Is this a long bed? because I got my 285/70r17 with KO2 tucked in there and it rubbed the rear diff pretty hard so it was a no go for me.
Oh yes important info I should have mentioned. Yes it’s a long bed.
Same, just got mine and it rubs the diff and the exhaust. Where did you end up putting yours?

Not much movement at all on the 285s.

Bobby sorry I’m not familiar with that year.
Kayak Fishing SoCal probably going to make a bracket for the sides by ziptiing plastics on sides
Couldn’t you also just throw the spare tire in the bed to avoid any modifications to the truck
