That weekend was fucking amazing! That was the first time I actually enjoyed playing live (there’s a lot that can go wrong with what I do, so I’m usually just trying to minimise the fuck ups)
I’m glad you got to experience the synth live in full surround! Imagine following my channel and only knowing what it can do in stereo! Boring! :p

@@meinteybergen4617 yup. That’s basically why my UA-cam channel has been neglected for so long (was trying to figure out how to do it, and it’s nigh on impossible to record for UA-cam).
If you got a very good pair of headphones, I’ve got 3 videos recorded off my phone that give a rough idea - eg this was the very first time I set up the surround sound rig - ua-cam.com/video/tDi3fM5hsQo/v-deo.htmlsi=RFpuONvidNwOt1oJ
It’s just a single note being rotated around the room (sometimes at audio rates, which is what is generating the second tone)

What I love about this is how it feels like you're really taking a journey - both yourself, and taking the listener on a journey - through very gradiated landscapes. It's like every 7 minutes or so, a very steady molecule-by-molecule metamorphosis lands you in a different landscape that you arrived at very organically. Hope that makes a tenth as much sense as it did in my head. Anyway I like it a lot. Really helps me find my zen on work breaks lol.

If you like that feeling and want to hear it in a totally different genre, you should give minimalist classical music a shot! A great place to start would be Steve Reich and Philip Glass. I like Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint and Philip Glass' Glassworks a lot.

Well I used to think I knew what I was doing with FM synthesis.
After ten years l had to admit to myself that I didn't, so - props 🥂
I still have a pair of Yamaha FS1R rack units with a custom built editor that displays every single parameter for every single voice, runs to 7 pages when displayed on a tablet but could be displayed on 1 large screen.
FM for non percussive sounds eg pads (complex, evolving multitimbral, including sequencable formant synthesis and syncable LFO's).
I seem to remember they were excellent for emulating the sonic properties of glass and metal.
If used sensitively they could counterpoint the analog sounds you very nicely craft already.
I think I should offer to "donate them to your cause" whatever that is... I assume you want people dancing😃

I've been tweaking a single patch for a week or so now, just trying out little things to see if I can use tricks live. Today I've mainly been distorting the hell out of the mother-32 (again with the Saich), via the WMD stereo compressor. It's got some potential, but I think it needs a low pass filter after the compressor just to remove some of the top end. Sadly, I'm all out of filters, so I may need to go dig one out and add to the rig (luckily I still have a little bit of space).
The only downside I find to the Saich is that it has so much fuzzy mids, that it makes it quite hard to tune the rig by ear when it's running. Turns out that gets even worse when you distort the signal! Hopefully with enough practice, that side will get easier.... love ya !

I don't know if it's possible in the euro rack world, but a neat little trick I use in the studio when I'm trying to tame out of control top end on distorted synth patches is using a de-esser.
It really is a bit of a magic wand for me (when set right) for fixing the exact issue you are having (as the sizzly overbearing top end of a distorted synth patch has a lot in common with sibilance and will trigger a de-esser set to the really harsh range with great results), and it sounds SO much better than other possible fixes as it leaves in the fuzz, but tames it and you end up with this super buttery smooth top end, that's still retained all of it's grit underneath the shiny surface and the rest of the sound can be left a bit more lively and you can get away with less overall compression effecting other parts of the sound.
I know you can get 500 series de-essers, so you might be able to get something that fits your rack, idk about the connections though but it's for sure worth looking into I recon, as it'll be the perfect fix for that issue going forward.

You get best result with a de-esser you can adjust the bandwidth at which it's active. I find it's often around 7k give or take a few k each side that is most often the most problematic area (but it really depends on the synth patch and I sometimes have it up as high as like ~11k). 🤙
