  • In 2018, UN Women launched its flagship “Making Every Woman and Girl Count” (Women Count) Programme - a gender data and statistics initiative in Uganda. Since then, the Programme has actively supported the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) and partners to improve integration and harmonization of gender statistics in the national statistical development plan for more systematic tracking of the production and use of gender statistics to support policy formulation, programming and decision-making processes and reporting. This has resulted in the production of more and relevant data production including violence against women, girls and children, and the inclusion of non-traditional data sources to complement official statistics. User-producer dialogues and related initiatives under the Programme have also increased the dissemination of gender statistics knowledge products and the awareness of policymakers in this area.
