Ahh this song my Daddy used to sing to me as a little girl replacing my name in place of "her".Still makes my me cry 50 years on! That's what music does to your emotions!!
Lourde yes yes like you my Daddy sang this to me each night im now 66 and my darling Desert Rat Daddy left us in 2020 at the age of 105 and was singing to his last God i miss him i love to hear some vesions of scarlet ribbons but like tonight it makes me cry Its just not my Daddy xx
My mom said this song always reminded her of me. Now that she's passed on, I love to listen to it even more. I miss her so much. Wish I knew when this song first came out. If anyone knows, please let me know. I know Nat King Cole did a wonderful rendition of it, also.
As a little boy I listened to this song from Jim Reeves. Later I discovered a more contemporary version sung by the Dutch band The Cats (1969). Even a more beautiful version.
I have not seen my daughter for 20 years,i always bught het scarlet ribbons at christmas,i would love so much to do so again i miss her so much.

The original was by Jo Stafford in 1949. Jim Reeves recorded it in 1959, he was killed in a plane crash 5 years later, at age 40.
