- We struggle with low water levels, low hanging trees and our runaway westies, but it's a beautiful cruise in our narrowboat from Tixall Wide to Penkridge on the beautiful Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal (Staffs & Worcester). More adventures in our narrowboat to add to our canal boat diaries.
Hello! If you are new here we are Caroline and Pete! In 2021, after 10 years living in Texas, we sold up and moved back home to the UK to live full time aboard a 60ft narrowboat with our West Highland Terriers! Join us in our day to day life as we continuously cruise the canals and rivers of the UK. All of the ups, and the downs and everything in between!

I just found out about how big the canal system is in the UK and I'm obsessed. I told my hubs we HAVE TO do this sometime in our life. Your boat looks gorgeous. I'll have to peek through your videos to see a boat tour!
Yes you have to do it! Although having said that, we didn’t even take a boating holiday before we made the big decision to sell up and move aboard. We are glad you found us 😊
You have no idea how much I enjoyed this weeks VLOG and how much I am excited about next week! You see, in 2017 my husband and I traveled to the UK for our 50th anniversary. One of the highlights of that trip happened when friends who live up around Leeds drove down to where we were staying in Moreton -in-Marsh and picked us up for a day trip to Penkridge! I had discovered that Church there was the final resting place for my 10 times and 11 times Great Grandparents! I was so excited. It was very emotional for me because up until a few weeks prior to our trip, I knew nothing about them. I am eagerly awaiting next week's entry in the hope that you will show the inside of St Michael and All Angels Church!!!! Thank you! We live in Florida and have been subscribers since the beginning. We enjoy y'all very much!
I am just editing the next vlog and sadly we didn’t get to go inside the church, but I have some outside shots. We are so happy we could bring back some wonderful memories for you 😊

Love the weeping willows but sometimes they are a bit of an obstruction when you’re trying to see round the corner! My grandad had one in his garden when we were growing up and we used to love to visit and make a ‘house’ in there! Thanks for watching 😊
I really like the color of your NB: We call it Robbins egg blue here. We have had many sailboats, power boats and watercraft of various types: We call ourselves water people. Your video style is intriguing and sort of captivating as is the music. Keep up the great adventures. BTW - we have a Morkie named Abby.

Thanks for allowing me to re live the cruise I did by myself last year. It’s such a beautiful area. I think deptmore lock is definitely the deepest lock I’ve done by myself so far. Penkridge lock was fun to do by myself as there were no bollards on the lock landing to tie up to. I just waited until someone else along and they helped me through. Relaxing music as always Caroline ❤

Had a laugh at Tixall Wide doing ‘donuts’ & many years ago my late husband & 5 mates moored abreast of each other, with planks across the roofs for the dogs, in the morning the boat tied to the bank untied and set off taking everyone with him 😂😂
What wonderful and funny memories! Tixall Wide is definitely one of our favourite moorings, plus there’s so much space to do those 3mph donuts 😂

Oh yes, westietude is definitely a thing! Poppy and Jasper were always the ones going off on mini adventures if they had the chance, but Hamish always stays close by us! 😂

It does take skill, and I am determined to master it a little more this year. I leave it up to Pete! I’m normally jumping off the boat with a rope when we are mooring up so it’s hard to video the full process but I’ll give it a go! 😊

Lovely to see you too, it was great to put some faces to names! I just use iMovie, it does everything we need and it’s been fairly easy to learn. I know there are more detailed packages out there with lots more effects etc, but not sure I want to relearn everything!! Thanks for watching 😊

Our westies come from a variety of places! Jasper, our first came from Australia when we lived in Singapore, Hamish was a rescue and Poppy was born in Texas! Sorry we can’t be of more help! 😊

Your boat engine seems quite loud. Could a quieter muffler be installed?
We are hoping to have a hospital silencer installed when we take the boat out of the water for blacking. This will help deaden the engine noise a little for a quieter cruising experience 😊

That was Jasper in the red harness. He was our first and oldest westie, who we sadly had to say goodbye to, aged 15. These are the last few videos he appears in. He loved his boat dog life ❤️
