Dude, you should do more tutorial-like videos
Thanks man!
Very helpful! Thank you!
Can you please play the whole thing I love it.theofillus
I've tried, my fingers get confused
Hahaha! Keep at it! You'll get it!
@@theophilusmartins thanks man.
Peace
You sir are the only one on UA-cam who will teach me how to play boogie woogie "for free", Thanks a LOT!
If you want someone to teach you boogie woogie, go to Boogie Woogie, Blues and Classical channel on UA-cam… absolutely brilliant teaching method. I’m a complete beginner on piano and they’ve been able to get me playing boogie in months. I love Theophilus’s playing, but if you look closely he names the notes he’s about to play in C and then speeds it up and plays the Eb and A instead of the Eb and G like he said..totally confusing. Sorry but teaching is a skill as well as playing. And you can waste a lot of precious time!
Theo's Boogie Stomp, love it dude, might try that left hand at some point. A little different to most boogie woogie left hands so a goody to learn. Teaching improvisations are tricky as most the time us piano players don't know what where playing are self and you let your fingers do the talking :)
Thanks Matt and yes when I improvise I'm partially conscious of what I'm doing lol.
@@theophilusmartins that's the only problem, like with Eeco's Boogie Woogie 10 in F I asked him to do a lesson as it makes my hairs stand up in enjoyment wishing I could play the same and as it's an improvisation he would not know how to play it exactly the same. Just have to enjoy the memory of a masterpiece. Like a lot of your work
Crazy! It's like the music just falls out of your fingers!
Thanks Steven! I appreciate your kind words.
Excellent stuff, thank you! You could also mention Henri Herbert, who plays high-quality boogie too.
Sounds great
Appreciate the left hand can be learned with practice and speed comes. The gift you have is being able to improvise! You play to the left hand without thinking about it. How do you get to being able to do that? You make it look deceptively easy Theo!
Thanks Stanley. Yes I guess to get to that stage you just have to keep listening to different types of boogie woogie pieces and although you may not be able to play the tunes or riffs you like, these riffs are being stored in your brain somewhere so when you rest and wake up to practice (Good to sometimes listen when you're sleeping but I imagine that can be hard) your finger and brain is ready to invent riffs based on what you heard. But it's all trial and error ultimately. Just keep trying and never give up! I have to practice this way as I cant read sheet music but if you can that's a short cut - get as many sheet music of the boogie woogie pieces you like and learn the riffs from there and use them in your playing! If I could read sheet music I would do that for sure! Thank you once again Stanley for your kind comment and continuous support!
interesting comments. Had the left hand sorted within an hour, but your gift is hearing and relating the right to the piano. Taught from the page, hearing and translating to the piano is another skill, which I envy and doubt I and possibly many can be learn , and why I have to bother you for hard copy!
Theo, you really just knock me out, man! You're such a great player, and obviously a nice man too! This is a very entertaining video. Don't you wish you could just make all these wonderful people play boogie woogie easily? Too bad- they have to put in the time and effort like we do. HaHa. But it's worth it, isn't it?
This is really useful! Some left hand, some right hand... a lot of information in one video but it's easy to follow.
Thanks dude! I'm glad you liked the tutorial!
That's an awesome bass line left hand pattern. Thank you so much for sharing!
Omg the is so nice
Thanks dude!
Wow!!! I love it .great Lick!!!
"Let me show you the right hand so you can play with me as well" ... XD
??? Haha that sounds quite wrong when you put it like that.
muy bueno!, saludos desde Madrid!
Booge Wooge its briliant music!!!
It really is friend!
Great video 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Kevin!
Wait that's the guy that was bobbing his head in Dr K's video of You and him playing Stomp
Edit
In the end he asked for Hammy's boogie...WELL WE WANT TO HEAR YOU PLAY IT
It is, well spotted!
Easy for you and so complicated for me DrT
You'll get it soon enough friend. Dont give up!
Great pattern Theophilus! I love it , thank you man
Thanks Kimmo! I'm glad I could help!
This left hand riff finally explained by somebody! (Despite playing and mentioning the wrong notes when slow, to later play it right when fast).
Theo your the man.
Thanks
Can't wait to try it out!
Cool
Thanks!
What an incredible inspiration you are 🫶
Looks like there is blood on that piano.
It would seem like blood but it's actually red paint.
@@theophilusmartins Theo tell them you bleed for your passion. lol
@@boogiewoogiepapa4784 haha that's a great reply.
Bajan?
What does that mean?
@@theophilusmartins I thought I picked up on a little bit of accent like a person from Barbados. Cheers, your playing is great!
@@davef.2811 I see, im actually Nigerian but I moved to Jamaica when I was 5 then came to the UK when I was 8. Thanks for enjoying my playing.
@@theophilusmartins Wow! Almost got it. I flew to Jamaica for 29 yrs, hauling Air Jamaica Air Cargo, for 3 different airlines, as AJ never had their own dedicated cargo aircraft, and still own property there in Trelawny, east of Mo Bay.
Cheers Theo 👍👍 Sounding great
He’s hitting the G note on the 1 beat int he guys
😁
Hits the C before the 1 and lands on G on the 1
I always thought it was tricky what u do by alternating the F and then Eflat lol (on the C chord)
Lol
@@jordanwillrog Yep! Right on the money!
That’s a real skill being able to play the f-a and then eflat-A
I can only play the eflat i never play F in the c chord ! Too hard lol
@@jordanwillrog keep at it man! You'll get it soon enough trust me!
Thanks!
Gd stuff theo
Thanks Jordan!
Your left hand is a masterclass....world class!!!...Mine...not so good, but I keep trying. One day, maybe....
Thanks friend! Keep practicing brother and I guarantee you'll get it!
