FF13 had everything going in it's favor... except game play, plot, and knowing when to quit which ends up making it the biggest failure in all of the series which was not easy considering FF2 and FF8 exist but alas they had good plot in spite of their shortcomings.

There were some mechanical, progression, and story problems I have which ultimately hold me back from saying "I like the game." Spoilers:*************************** When the final boss wound up being a Giant Flying Mechanical Space Baby GodCreator who's deigned to commit suicide, by which the party's answer is to attack and kill the Space Baby before he can suicide, or they turn into crystals or some shit - Oh, and getting to that point if you hadn't done the right grinding in the world map which took way too long to get to with no real sense of adventure.... I bashed my head against the boss for a while, and put the game down with the intent to grind it out eventually and that game wound up never getting touched again. The presentation was top notch, though. Great cinematography, and beautiful sets and characters.

Final Fantasy always had good music. Music was never an issue with any of the titles. It’s the gameplay and FF13 and 15 have some of the worst, confusingly designed and sloppy mechanics out of the worst of them.
because it tried to be different from all of the previous FF and people hates change in general, i like that it tried to be different makes the game with a different flavor, sometimes eating chocolate ice cream all the time gets boring, you need vanilla too. but look at the influence it did in the recent FF titles namely FF7 remake, the combat with stagger system came from FF13, and here's what i don't get when people are complaining about combat saying its not turn base anymore, its still a turn base system just more active and action oriented and funnily enough more Akin to the classic turn based than the FF7 remake "classic combat mode" who doesn't really resemble any classic turn base combat whatsoever.
@@coreywilder1564 Ffxiii: lore, characters and linear gameplay the game gets more open at end game but I wish they add more like revisiting maps, mini games and more social with NPCs. The characters are a hit and miss but they're still popular though even if the game is shit by western fans. Ffxv: fun open world but it can be boring with the landscapes and setting, characters feels like family but they added dlc to get to know them more in which they could have add a lore, luna got stabbed we barely knew her inwhich is sad. Hell we get to play as serah in ffxiii-2. To me it's weird that ffxiii wasn't hated in Japan.

It IS super linear, but the visuals and music and animations and battles and story are all soooo good. It does take a bit of time to introduce the main gimmick of it's battle system, Paradigm Shifts, so the first couple hours of battles are very "mash A to win", but the presentation holds you over until shit starts to REALLY hit the fan and the game proper starts.
