yamaha needs to sell more the brass saddles on this model which adds to the low-end character and enhanced resonance. this sets this BB apart from other PJs
The GREATEST improvement of this series of Yamaha BB basses is the fact that you can now install AFTERMARKET PICKUPS. The major achilles heel of all BB basses was that Yamaha designed their pickups with their stock design-only components that never allowed you to swap out the pickups with aftermarket upgrades without making some drastic alteration to the pickup cavity on the body............The pre-amp still needs work, but it's tolerable. Yamaha shouldn't have reduced the body size, it simply robs it of it's original profile.
That doesn't make sense. If they were so poorly made they wouldn't have been around as long as they have. The pickups are great for that bass. If you don't like how it sounds why buy it? Your position doesn't make much sense. If that guy is from Yamaha suggesting the pickups can be switched he needs to be fired.

You didn’t show off that the treble adjust doubles as the tone pot when in passive mode. :(
That’s a pretty cool feature.
It does this on trbx 500 and 600 series too.
Informative review. Very well done, Andy. I have a bb1024x. Sounds awesome but heavy as a boat anchor. Glad to see Yamaha is making them lighter.
Have same bass love it.
I gotta get one
could someone explain why the 735A does not have the BB435's offset bridge for the low B string?
The bridge of the 734 is designed that way it does not need extension. The 435/235 models need that apparently.
Tell me about the amp you are using, Thank you.

@OlandoMcCall I make plenty of sense. So I won't spoon-feed you the reasons why.

@OlandoMcCall No,......I'm a 55-year old grandfather who has to live down to your level of intellect just to communicate with with you.
