why do you divide the second difference by 2 to find a, if I had a cubic what would I divide the third difference by?
@JHawk24: Look at the sequence of square numbers: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25...what is the common second difference? For cubics, look at 1, 8, 27, 64, 125,... and what is the third difference?

Why did you divide number 2?
Look at the simplest quadratic sequence: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25,... Work out the first differences, then what do you get for all the second differences?
Are there any worksheet for nth term . I am in year 6
