I have to wonder how different this list would be if you didn't end up choosing the Switch Axe as your main. Every monster can feel so different depending on how you hunt it.
Next time you fight Namielle grab some brightmoss. Shooting the moss on the ground when she makes it wet absorbs the water and gives you an area to stand in.
Brute Tigrex has always been considered strangely easier than base Tigrex, probably because it actually has more attacks than just charging at you over and over and over and over and... That being said, Brute's long-range wind laser breath was a new addition for Iceborne. If you keep playing older MH games you will find a monster with a similar attack as that and you do NOT want to take a hit from it.
Its likely due to Earplugs lv5 entirely negating its main gimmick. On top of it having much less aggressive charging attacks, which seems to screw a lot of people over
Subspecies are monsters stronger cousins from different ecosystems. Variants are monsters with weird mutations that make them stronger. Examples: Brute Tigrex is a subspecies that lives in volcanic regions, so it developed a louder roar to speak to each other in their larger territories. Savage Deviljho is a variant that went insane after it committed cannibalism, the dragon energy from the Jho it ate combined with it's own dragon production. Most variants start the fight in their base forms enraged state, and can go even further beyond. Take Seething Bazel, Savage Jho, and Furious Rajang for example.
@@Mememom06 glacial agnaktor is notably stronger than normal. The only thing that is inferior, is it's beam is weaker. Its beak is sharper and more durable. It's claws are sharper and stronger. It is actually wins fights with tigrex on the regular. In comparison to normal agnaktor, a glass cannon that is shooting way above its own weight class, and only sometimes beats brachydios.
Fatalis is easily my favorite. I absolutely love the music, his design, his fight, the armor, and castle schrade. There really isn't anything I dislike about him. Something really cool is that the intro part of his theme song is part of the Kokoto village theme from the very first game
What he pointed out that I agree with is that that fight is so different that any other monster in the game, everything is designed for that fight and it feels different
The moment of shooting Velkhana with the DragonRazer will stick with me for a while. The whole flavor of that entire quest was awesome as you really felt like the entire town was in a struggle to defend it. The quest finishing right as you shoot Velkhana is just such an amazing moment!
It's really interesting seeing how much the perspective shifts when you have ALL the content available right away with no breaks between updates and no lulls between different monsters. The beautiful thing about playing a MH game at launch is experiencing everything as it comes out and testing all the systems as they're intended. Your journey has been REALLY neat to watch and I can't wait to see your take on the next world-esque game!
I was really amazed how much I loved brute tigrex over normal one for example, and it's addition was meaningful to the gearing choices I had at the time
My favorites are tied to weapons that I like to use against the monster -Blackveil with LS -both Zinogre with CB/LS, the attack tells is so satisfying to counter with guard points or iai slashes -Silver & Gold Rath with SnS -Alatreon with LS/CB/SnS/DB, the attack hitbox is deliciously tight -both Behemoth with IG, cutting the tail is much-much more easier with the baguette stick -both Velkhana with CB -both Diablos with CB/Lance since all the charges just hurt them more than it hurts me with the guard points -ruiner nergi with any weapon, he feels like grandpa nergi to me, slow and very-very predictable and anything that I deem annoying just gets the sticky spam, like nightshade paolumu
17:30 Barioth was also my mentor in Iceborne (World was also my first game). For me, it wasn't about the clutch claw, it was about learning how to use element. At this time, I was isolated from the MH youtube community and was playing Dual Blades off of my own experiences. As a result, I went into Iceborne with the Fire and Ice dual blades (yeah... those...). Barioth was the first hunt where I switched weapons since his hitzones, while weakspots, took so little damage to my ice attacks XD. So, I grinded out Anjanath dual blades and defeated Barioth. From then on, I always made sure I had all five elemental builds at peak level for my point in the story line. Sure, it took me around 150 hours to reach Shara Ishvalda during my playthrough (I did the whole Iceborne story + DLC solo), but I loved every hour of it. TY Barioth! (But I still love Vaal more)
You're editor is amazing at their work!.Most of the subspecies in iceborne were fine with me and I really loved Ruiner Nergigante's fight and how it's armor looked. Also Fulger Anjanath's roar when it powers up is very cool and unique
It is hands down the best ranking I saw of MHWI monsters. I personally felt Fatalis was harder than AT Velkhana, but it is because I did AT Velkhana with Fatalis equipment. In fact, you motivated me to go back fighting AT Velkhana with pre-Fatalis equipment and oh yeah it is harder. I totally agree about Fatalis feeling less like a dance compared to AT Velkhana and Alatreon (my personnal favorite), but also MR Kulve Taroth. I recommend you try MR Kulve Taroth solo (contrary to her HR siege, she does scale to player number) with pre-Fatalis equipment. She is more challenging than Alatreon, she has DPS checks coupled with part break check, which are frustrating at first, but gives you a feeling of accomplishment once you overcome them. Her music, her area and her attack are pure beauty. If you give her a go, I am sure she will make to top 3 once you beat her.
AT Velk was the only monster in Iceborne I had to do multiplayer for besides Safi (did him pre scaling update). I was pre-Fatalis too (not like Fatalis would've helped, I'm a Dual Blades player) and needed her armor to complete my elemental tank build for Fatalis. I could've used the beta, but it would've been much harder to get all the decos I want. It's not really the damage that I found difficult to deal with, it was doing 50k in 30 minutes. I'm pretty bad at abusing openings, and that's even more true for ATs, so there was no way I could've done it then.
@@DexFire1115 I did her couple of times with pre-Fatalis equipment and you need to know her like the back of your pocket in order to get through in time, dodging all her attacks and punishing all her openings. Even with Fatalis equipment, she is definitely not a walk in the park. She came after Fatalis and is the true final boss. Your are expected to take her on with Fatalis equipment, why it is a medal of honor for Hey Jay! to have defeated her without. MR Kulve Taroth, Alatreon, Fatalis and AT Velkhana forced me to try and fail so many times until I could overcome them. Their tight timer force players to get out of their comfort zone and be able to dance with them, essentially semi-speedrunning. I hope we get to see more of this kind of endgame difficulty instead of the wrong kind coughcoughbehemothancientleshencough.
When you described your experience with AT Velkhana, I was reminded of my experience with AT Nergigante. Everything was intense and I had to be 'on' the whole time. I know most of the community hated the Arch Tempered system, but honestly, I think they're some of the best fights in the game.
It's funny seeing this and compare it with Max's Tier List, and see how there's some similar opinions, or other polarizing opinions, like Savage Jho, for Jay is not that big of a deal, and for Max is a better version of pickle
I can handle nightshade slander, possibly handle shrieking slander, i can barely handle viper slander but most of all you slander outside voice tigrex. I fucking love your editor.
I may or may not have skipped to the part where you talk about Yian Garuga and I'm fine it settling around middle. Glad you don't hate the totally objectively best monster in the series.
I'm sorry but yian is a piece of shit in older games. No telegraphed charge spam, poison spam on par with viper, and the fuckin wind pressure. No thank you. Shit monster. Ib garuga redeemed it by a lot but I still don't like the mf.
I agree with jay that beo is by far the most tolerable if not enjoyable fish monster... Also because the other two look like giant PPs rushing towards you... And one of them is hard too...
The difference between subspecies and variants is not as obvious in any language other than Japanese, but there's still a pretty reliable way to tell them apart. The primary difference between them is that a subspecies is guaranteed to be a different color from the base monster, which results in all of the monster's drops relating to their skin (scales, carapace, etc.) being replaced with different-colored versions. Variants are either the same color or a similar color as the base monster, resulting in keeping the same drops as the base monster and only adding a few additional drops (typically one rare and one common drop, but it varies). The "rare species" label refers to when a monster receives a version that would have been classified as a subspecies, but the monster already has a subspecies (like the metal Raths). The reason they can't both be subspecies is the fact that the Japanese name of a subspecies monster is literally just "[base monster name] subspecies", so they needed a new classification for them.
For Jay's sake: subspecies are monsters that diverged from the original species because of the environment, variants are a base species changed by special circumstance (like pickle cannibalism for jho or shrooms for Val, etc)
Nice rankings! I can see where they come from but some monsters you ranked lowly I feel really improve with repeat play. In particular, the Metal Raths, Tigrex and Phase 2 Shara have parts that guarantee topples if you do enough damage to them specifically, suggesting you should take the riskier way out instead of unga-bungaing till they drop. Learning these exploits through repeat fights and youtube guides felt like 'Eureka' moments which really improved my impression of these guys.
A subpsecies is a member of a species that has evolved to survive in a different ecosystem or predator. The bengal tiger lives in a tropical region, but the siberian tiger lives in a much colder region, and for that reason it has a thick coat to protect it from the lower temperatures. It works exactly the same in MH. The Kirin are prey of the Rajang, so some of them evolved into Oroshi Kirin, a Kirin that commands the ice element, Rajang's main weakness. Variants in MH are a member of a species that recieved a mutation because of age or a situation. Furious Rajang is a Rajang that lost it's tail, and because of this it no longer has control of it's element, thus forcing it's body to stay in it's enraged state permenantly. And to make things worse, since it cannot control the output of it's electricity it allows it to enrage even more. Raging Brachydios is a wise Brachydios that found something called "flashpoint slime", this slime is extremely volatile and powerfull. This slime causes changes in the Brachydios anatomy to help it survive the explosions. It's shell becomes harder, it also turns green, the Brachydios becomes larger and more aggresive due to the efects of the slime, and it becomes immortal. The slime activates a special organ known as the "Immortal Reactor" wich converts the waste of the slime into stem cells for the Brachydios, thus making it Immortal. All monsters have the potential to become variants, all monster can have subspecies. But only some of them can become a Deviant.
3 points I want to say: 1. Kinda sad you rank ol' savage jho in the bottom but I can accept it cuz the fact you ranked it so low because you're terrified of that psychotic pickle made me chuckle quite a bit XD 2. Spot on reasoning and description of Alatreon fight. If you watched Avatar when Aang and Zuko was learning and doing the dragon dance episode, I think yours are similar to that. You're being taught to the ground again on the essence and how to hunt, and figuratively, how to "dance" with the monster. But this time, you learned from the dance master Alatreon, and the final exam is tip toeing on VERY thin ice with fire on the sides in the depths of hell. 3. Yep, Velkhana is the proper send-off to Iceborne, couldn't have asked a better parting. Although Alatreon is still number 1 for me, AT Velkhana also nabs the top 5s in my list.
Ok, here's a synopsis of the differences between variants and subspecies, and even the rare species. A subspecies is a species that is undeniably a certain monster, but it has different colors and abilities usually. Similar to how azure rathalos is sure as hell still rathalos, but different in coloration and behavior. Rare species is the same thing, but they are exactly that: rare, every rare species is a subspecies, but not every subspecies is a rare species. A variant is basically a base monster that has had some kind of event that has changed it in a way that has made it either more powerful or more ferocious/vicious. Savage Jho is a deviljho that has eaten another deviljho, and has therefore consumed a dragon element rich food source, hence it's ridiculous enrage. A Furious rajang is a rajang that has had its tail cut off, raging brachydios is a brachydios that has encountered a special kind of slime mold that's stronger than the regular stuff, and so on and so forth. In short: a subspecies is exactly that, a species that is definetly that, but slightly different because of genes. A variant is a creature that has had some kind of event happen to change them. Hell, rajang gets traumatized because of his now serious lack of a tail, so yeah.
I love the metal raths in iceborne. They look really cool and their fights actually make the usually super boring and basic rath family fights a bit more challenging and thus more interesting. And I completely disagree with you on how silverlos is taking the fight to the wrong direction. You get more windows against it from some of his big scary attacks instead the usual rathlos chilling in the sky and you are just playing touhou games on the ground. So the fight is more engaging and really rewarding when you can read it.
My favourite monster is actually Tigrex but I don't like Gen 5 Tigrex, he just doesn't feel the same. My fav in Iceborne has gotta be Alatreon. I was stuck on him for MONTHS. I'm usually pretty quiet when gaming but I screamed so loud when he finally went down lmao.
I'm surprised I agree with you in most of the top tier like zinogre better than stygian or raging brachy daddy or alatreon better than fatal or velkhana is queen but I would place some lower tier ones WAY higher like yian garuga acidic glavenous namiele and vaal

The real part starts at 26:11 :3 Huge Velkhana fan forever, and I was so hyped when I saw she would be in stories 2 as well. Undeniably the coolest monster out there 😎❄️
Sucks to see shara so low. My second favorite hunt, and, if your in the hey Jay discord (which you should be) then you'll know it's my next 1k hunts grind.
The main reason I feel you put Fatalis so low is cause you took on AT Velkahna first which is a harder fight absolutely lol. AT Velkahna's theme is called Iceborne's End, AT Nergs theme is called World's End which I like
How and why she is harder? her mooveset is so easy to read, while fatalis is random and i beat her first try. I like AT nergigante fight too! (did it before iceborne, ofc)
Y'know, i was gonna cancel you because of where you put Namielle, but then Raul redeemed just enough with the tier placement. Ultimately i love the Elders that were added to the Game at IB rather than the repeats, because it was something new with new mechanics, so I am biased toward them.
35: Energy Drinks prevent sleep 34: Clutch Clawing a monster and also Clutching into Flinch Shot works best on flying monsters that arent enraged, save flash pods for enraged flyers. 33: I dont blame you, its a very unimpactful sub species. 32: He screm, yes, he very much screm, REEEEE!! 31: They gave it more effluvium, but Effluvium Res is a thing and it totally removes the threat, they did my boy dirty. 30: First stage should take less than 5 minutes, you are meant to weaken it with the clutch claw and send it smacking into walls before the second phase, meanwhile you took 20+ minutes :P but the fight is AWESOME!!! hes fun to beat up and is a great spectacle. 29: Funny enough, he had the highest raw damage weapons of any category prior to Raging Brachy, but the fight was less fun than regular glav for sure. 28: They gave him two new moves and made him dragon element, im surprised you put him above Shara xD 27: Shes an end game monster, like....she came out after Rajang im pretty sure, the Chrome Raths are THE BEST Raths, absolutely stellar fights my man, makes me wish you were more practiced in the game to fully appreciate how great they are. 26: Same as Gold Rath, you simply werent prepared to fight them properly :P 25: Incredible fight, super fun to bully because he has a lot of hidden nuances to take advantage of. 24: Mah Boy 23: You are meant to learn the tell for his ultimate and do a superman dive, you have plenty of time to see the move, sheathe, and leap, or have a SUPER tanky shield, its not unrealistic to teach you the importance of the most integral evasion move you have available to you super late into the story, gotta learn it at some point, also you can fire glow moss at the puddles of water to soak them up, and if you use a fire weapon on him youll dry him up and he will likely never even get to use his ult. 22: Squirt Squirt 21: Doesnt have a tail, but it has a head, if you focus its tiny head with sword mode then you wont bounce, and youll knock it right out of rage super fast, providing you are skilled enough to hit it enough reliably. 20: Bruh, hes an invader monster, and his element changes depending on the zone hes in, freakin fireballs in the lava zone! :D you wouldve HATED Bazelgeuse in base World, he was THEE invader monster, no other monster showed up in each zone like he did. 19: I found it to be an improvement on everything the base Zinny was, and he has a cooler looking ult. 18: Scarred is faster, enrages quicker, and shoots a crap tonne of awesome rapid shot fireballs at you from the sky, how is that not better than Base Garuga? 17: See Above Mr.AngerChimkin. 16: *Neutral monsters go here* but not the ANGRY MONKE!!! :P 15: Best fish, but this high? daaaaamn, fish be better than final boss and stygian and savage jho xD wat. 14: BUH BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH BUDUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUUUUUUUUUUH DUHDUHDUHDUH!!!!! 13: Yea, its not really soloable, not reliably, also the armour is easy to get, what are you talking about? break head, break tail, go to the melder and MAKE a Safi Mantle for free xD im pretty sure you neglected the Melder your entire playthrough. 12: Spiky boi is angery! sadge for no AT variant like in base world. 11/10: its nice that you put them here, since you got to fight them in a good place, but when they first released they came AFTER Raging Brachy and Furious Jang, and i think after Alatreon? so we all had this super strong gear to fight this slightly more annoying version of an already annoying fight, but at least frostfang was actually decent, if not VERY annoying. 9: One of the best sub species and never boring to fight, but the original Anji was most peoples first wall back in base world, still great. 8: Surprised that base Zinny is so far away from the Stygian version, he does everything the normal one does, but looks more awesome and has more cool moves, though i suppose base Zinny was your true nemesis. 7: Massive fan fave, he ponch gud. 6: The true Monster Hunter starts here. 5: Greatsword go SPEEEEEN! 4: Fatalis is the ultimate story challenge, he will test everything you have learned up until then and execute it with near flawless perfection in order to defeat them, and you did, he is by far one of the best fights they have EVER made for the franchise till now, and is definitely one of the most challenging, right up there with Behemoth and AT Velk. 3: Absolutely incredible fight, and you fought it insanely early, far earlier than you realistically shouldve done, because of how the game is structured, you can fight them super early without much gear needed, technically you are meant to fight him and Furious Jang after MR100 in high tier R10 equipment, but you went in after HR50 or something xD you were bound to die. 2: The reasons you love Alatreon, funny enough, are the things you wouldve learned if you had fought the Arch Tempered monsters in Base World, but sadly that is something you wont experience unless you went out of your way to use base world end-game gear without the clutch claw and fought them all that way, only then can you experience our plights. 1: No surprise, a monster to rival Fatalis in difficulty and in mechanics, practically impossible to cheese, exceptionally fun to fight, excellent challenge, could fight it repeatedly forever.
You know, Heyjay, instead of continually clarifying if a Subspecies/Variant is higher or lower than a monster on another list, you could always set up a tier-based system to give people an idea how much you like them instead of a list system Any bad blood from low rankings on Viper Tobi and Ebony Odo was forgiven from the Top 3 Raging Brachy. Barely.
I mean it is a tier list. The monsters are just ordered best to worst within Said tiers and this functions as an individual ranking system which he presents the video as
Also I kinda hate fighting zinogre in world because the clutch claw trivializes a lot of the fight I found Stygian way more fun but still his charging mechanic doesn’t work well when you have the clutch claw. I’ll never forget the first time I fought him in 4u he became my instant favorite monster.
After I watched all your journeys, I'm very satisfied about your ranking list , everyone will have different ranking list because It's about your journey in monster hunter.
Hmm... it's actually hard for me to think of any real tier list for me. Alatreon, AT Velkhana, Fatalis and Rajang were the only monsters that really challenged me. What is interesting is that a lot of the monster you found difficult eg. Tigrex and Savage Jho were because you used the Switchaxe, whereas I use six weapons and use whatever's most effective. Because of that, I found Stygian Zinogre and Zinogre very fun because the Longsword works really well against them, and the Gunlance is so effective against Jho. Going by that, every weapon could have its own tier list. Goes to show how deep the whole game can be.
Completely agree with Zinogre, Odog, and Savage, I think the development team went a but nuts with the dragon element there, so their base forms are a lot more fun. As for Velkhana at number 1, I mean wow, she wouldn't have even made my top 20, but hey (Jey) ha, it's all good.
Savage and Zino's sub-species were from older games. Odogaron was new though (obviously), and we really didn't need another edge lord doggo. He still had some cool attacks though.
Essentially Subspecies are born that way and Variants are born normal then become one, example being Deadeye Yian Garuga is just a regular Yian Garuga that's been the target of so many failed hunts that its become very adept at fighting hunters.
I've got to be honest here. When you came to the final Tier I was trying to count and think which one were still left ... and I couldn't figure it out. Glavenus, okay. Fatalis, fair. Raging Brach, nice. Alatreon, of course. But I couldn't for the life of me remember Velkhana. I totally forgot her 😅🤣
Variants, the best way to describe them is that they're basically the normal monster powered-up/stuck in rage mode while having their own rage mode. Of course 5th gen kinda broke this rule as far as I know...so I dunno. Subspecies I actually like, especially when they have new elements/status attacks. (besides Nightshade) I hope they return in Sunbreak, I don't know why but it seems the portable team hasn't been using them much in their games. (Gen/Gen U) Apex better not replace them like the Deviants did...-.-
For some reason, I could expect Velkhana to be top of your list when you were describing why you didn't like Fatalis as much as many tend to hype it up as "the best MH fight." You're definitely right that Fatalis doesn't really give a sense of a "dance" so to speak, I think. It's really refreshing to see such a positive appreciation of AT Velk when many in the community tend to say how releasing him after Fatalis was a "mistake." Fighting AT Velk gave the same feeling as fighting AT Nerg in base World for me - not "the hardest fight" per se, but nonetheless one of the best experience in the whole game. Oh and Velkhana is a "he" despite the "na" making it sound like a female name. Lore-wise, every Elder Dragon is by default male unless stated otherwise (like Lunastra or Narwa in Rise). In any case, great list!
Velkhana for me personally is one of the slowest fights i have... in my vid it took like 40min to kill it while also smacking it repeatedly in the wall like 10 times...on my way to rajang and ppl keep saying how annoying it is...will see i guess :)
the subspecies from iceborne are some of my favorite monsters in the entire game, they took some of the monsters I used to grind soo much back in the main game and made a completely new fight, and I just loved that. Namielle, doesn't one shot you though, at least not if you play the game really complitionist style, do all optional quest and just play slowly.
*Incoming train of salty hunters for Jay hating "X" monster because he doesn't like skill-based gameplay* No really though, people typically really love dragon element and Jay doesn't so I can see some salt incoming for that. Also...you ranked Ice fish above Namielle...yeah I can already hear the screams of the damned, good luck Jay. Also can't wait to see Jay fight Apex lvl 140 Rajang from 4 Ultimate, he's the strongest version of Rajang by a LONG shot. In fact, I'd go as far to say Iceborne Furious Rajang is also pretty easy in comparison.
Also I get a s a consumer having fun is important but for many of these rating it seems like they get put lower simply because the were more difficult Ex: Savage Deviljho, even though its a Master Rank level monster and designed to be more difficult(No hate)
I have some bad news From The looks of the effects it is a mod i was thinking the Gogmazios longsword but the shape is wrong but that definitly looks mod esque Correct me if i'm wrong
Bruh said "Rathalos should just be rathalos, don't try to variantize him" thatd be alot less content if no monster had a variant or subspecies to them dont u think?
Banbaro was my favorite addition. I absolutely love its big fluffy design and its so much fun to beat up. Its armor is also my favorite design in the game (male and female). Tigrex is and continues to be the worst Monster ever created. Its excessively lazy visual design and boring moveset of just charging constantly with a never accurate hitbox is awful. I hope for a day when Tigrex isnt in a MH game.
Monsters doing the roar when they settle on the list is a nice touch, praise the editor!
I wish there was a mod that replaced all monsters roars with Tim Allen's grunt.
Instant S+++ rank on everyone.
Didnt know that. I always evaded it. Thanks
Shooting bright moss at flying monsters faces also brings them down.
WHAT???????????????????????????????????????? I never knew that in over 1k hours in Iceborne ommgggggg
@@celeste5932And that is why I love this series so much. I'm always learning something new.
what? very deep and nuanced mechanics? nah i just kinda whack them with my big stick a couple times and they die, simple
What I found with chargeblade is that when he roars his hips are easy to roll to every time, which lets you pump damage every second and so on
Its likely due to Earplugs lv5 entirely negating its main gimmick. On top of it having much less aggressive charging attacks, which seems to screw a lot of people over
Subspecies are monsters stronger cousins from different ecosystems.

Subspecies don't neccesarily have to be stronger though, and FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO KNOWS BRUTE TIGREX LORE
And deviants are basically the strongest possible form of that monster, if I'm not wrong
Examples: Bloodbath Diablos and Dreadking Rathalos
@@Mememom06 glacial agnaktor is notably stronger than normal.

I was really amazed how much I loved brute tigrex over normal one for example, and it's addition was meaningful to the gearing choices I had at the time
My favorites are tied to weapons that I like to use against the monster
-Blackveil with LS
-both Zinogre with CB/LS, the attack tells is so satisfying to counter with guard points or iai slashes
-Silver & Gold Rath with SnS
-Alatreon with LS/CB/SnS/DB, the attack hitbox is deliciously tight
-both Behemoth with IG, cutting the tail is much-much more easier with the baguette stick
-both Velkhana with CB
-both Diablos with CB/Lance since all the charges just hurt them more than it hurts me with the guard points
-ruiner nergi with any weapon, he feels like grandpa nergi to me, slow and very-very predictable
and anything that I deem annoying just gets the sticky spam, like nightshade paolumu
I'm forever angry alatreon and shara ishvalda won't ever get arch tempered fights.
@@traviswilliams2348 Same. Especially Shara. It's a crime for such a cool monster to not have an AT version.
It's funny seeing this and compare it with Max's Tier List, and see how there's some similar opinions, or other polarizing opinions, like Savage Jho, for Jay is not that big of a deal, and for Max is a better version of pickle
I am so happy you found Monster Hunter :) every time I hear you talk about Velkhana makes me very happy :)
He is the best monster, he's all the good parts of Rathian with all the fun parts of being a bird. Which makes him better in everyway
Garuga in World is beautiful
I'm sorry but zinogre would like to have a word with you.
I'm sorry but yian is a piece of shit in older games. No telegraphed charge spam, poison spam on par with viper, and the fuckin wind pressure. No thank you. Shit monster. Ib garuga redeemed it by a lot but I still don't like the mf.
@@yuujinner5801 I'm glad old Garuga left a lasting impression on you C:

16:08 Fatalis didn't like what he heard.
Case in point: metal raths are hillarious to fight with clutch claw only HBG xD
Shreds through them like nobodies business xD
Jay : Fatalis in number 4.
Fatalis : Okay. Time to tell my explosive brother and granpa Fatty.
Fatalis was in number 4 though. It was Crimson Fatalis in MH4G/U
The fact we never got Arc Tempered Shara Ishvalda still feels terrible
I am now making it my mission to invade you during your dark souls streams because of that Namielle Placement
Same
3 points I want to say:
1. Kinda sad you rank ol' savage jho in the bottom but I can accept it cuz the fact you ranked it so low because you're terrified of that psychotic pickle made me chuckle quite a bit XD
Although Alatreon is still number 1 for me, AT Velkhana also nabs the top 5s in my list.
fulgur is just an old word for lightning
Hey jay, don't knock Banbaro! If he wants to invade every quest for his Banbaro Time, he's allowed to XD
The feel when proof of a hero starts sounding while you are beating fatalis, it's just chef's kiss.
I'm super happy you enjoyed alatreon so much. I love that fight so much. Easily my number 1 monster.

Most hunters when fighting Raging Brachy for the first time be like:
Everybody going gangsta until the earth start speaking latin.
The real part starts at 26:11 :3
Huge Velkhana fan forever, and I was so hyped when I saw she would be in stories 2 as well. Undeniably the coolest monster out there 😎❄️
Nothing wrong not putting Fatalis in top 3, especially for someone who can solo AT Velkhana without any Fatalis armor or weapon.
Banbaro is always invited to my parties [:
It's always Banbaro time
I think it's sad to see some monsters in such low tier because you had a hard time against it.
Y'know, i was gonna cancel you because of where you put Namielle, but then Raul redeemed just enough with the tier placement.
Ultimately i love the Elders that were added to the Game at IB rather than the repeats, because it was something new with new mechanics, so I am biased toward them.
35: Energy Drinks prevent sleep
34: Clutch Clawing a monster and also Clutching into Flinch Shot works best on flying monsters that arent enraged, save flash pods for enraged flyers.
33: I dont blame you, its a very unimpactful sub species.
32: He screm, yes, he very much screm, REEEEE!!
31: They gave it more effluvium, but Effluvium Res is a thing and it totally removes the threat, they did my boy dirty.
30: First stage should take less than 5 minutes, you are meant to weaken it with the clutch claw and send it smacking into walls before the second phase, meanwhile you took 20+ minutes :P
but the fight is AWESOME!!! hes fun to beat up and is a great spectacle.
29: Funny enough, he had the highest raw damage weapons of any category prior to Raging Brachy, but the fight was less fun than regular glav for sure.
28: They gave him two new moves and made him dragon element, im surprised you put him above Shara xD
27: Shes an end game monster, like....she came out after Rajang im pretty sure, the Chrome Raths are THE BEST Raths, absolutely stellar fights my man, makes me wish you were more practiced in the game to fully appreciate how great they are.
26: Same as Gold Rath, you simply werent prepared to fight them properly :P
25: Incredible fight, super fun to bully because he has a lot of hidden nuances to take advantage of.
24: Mah Boy
23: You are meant to learn the tell for his ultimate and do a superman dive, you have plenty of time to see the move, sheathe, and leap, or have a SUPER tanky shield, its not unrealistic to teach you the importance of the most integral evasion move you have available to you super late into the story, gotta learn it at some point, also you can fire glow moss at the puddles of water to soak them up, and if you use a fire weapon on him youll dry him up and he will likely never even get to use his ult.
22: Squirt Squirt
21: Doesnt have a tail, but it has a head, if you focus its tiny head with sword mode then you wont bounce, and youll knock it right out of rage super fast, providing you are skilled enough to hit it enough reliably.
15: Best fish, but this high? daaaaamn, fish be better than final boss and stygian and savage jho xD wat.
Or the way i do it, hit it till it die
Metal raths were in the game to start with but are locked behind Mr 70 and lv 6 grinding lands
You know, Heyjay, instead of continually clarifying if a Subspecies/Variant is higher or lower than a monster on another list, you could always set up a tier-based system to give people an idea how much you like them instead of a list system
Any bad blood from low rankings on Viper Tobi and Ebony Odo was forgiven from the Top 3 Raging Brachy.
Barely.
I mean it is a tier list. The monsters are just ordered best to worst within Said tiers and this functions as an individual ranking system which he presents the video as
@@sacred944 that's not Heyjay tiering them, I'm relatively certain that that is Raul doing the tiering, which is not Heyjay's thoughts ver batum.
No one tell hey jay about the dread king and queen….
Hatred on Nightshade only makes me love you more. As a DB/GS main, I agree beyond description
Loving the Val Habar ost as always 😀
And yes. It was Namielle slander 🤣
After I watched all your journeys, I'm very satisfied about your ranking list , everyone will have different ranking list because It's about your journey in monster hunter.
Rise Zinogre is also a dance, just much faster.
What the hell is that long sword he's using in the brute tigrex clip ? That thing is sick !
Hmm... it's actually hard for me to think of any real tier list for me.
Deadeye and others from MHXX/GU are deviants...
Will you do Rise AND stories 2 as well?
I agree, Velkhana is S tier, I love her
The Chun-Li outfit sets you well ! ;)
Dat FalKKonE glavenus cover tho, sick af as usual
I laughed about the dumb choices but at the end I had to agree.
The Council is still watching you
Ebony Odoggo is what Shadow the Hedgehog is to Sonic
I've got to be honest here. When you came to the final Tier I was trying to count and think which one were still left ... and I couldn't figure it out. Glavenus, okay. Fatalis, fair. Raging Brach, nice. Alatreon, of course. But I couldn't for the life of me remember Velkhana. I totally forgot her 😅🤣
AT Velkhana is truly a fun fight. I absolutely loved having to stay on the move but still how readable every move was to be able to avoid them.
(Gen/Gen U) Apex better not replace them like the Deviants did...-.-
I remember my egg delivery quest in 4U and the brute tigrex and tigrex decide to show up. Ugh nonstop roar. 😂😂😂
Tier List Let's Goooooooo
Let's GOOOOO!!! Furious Rajang us best boi!!!
I find Silver Rathalos harder than Gold Rathian. He just seems like much more of a hassle
In any case, great list!
how did you fight zinogre in monster hunter rise before you fought him in iceborne that dlc came out almost a year before rise
I started Iceborne around the same time Rise came out.
@@HeyJayOfficial thanks that makes a lot more sense
Velkhana for me personally is one of the slowest fights i have... in my vid it took like 40min to kill it while also smacking it repeatedly in the wall like 10 times...on my way to rajang and ppl keep saying how annoying it is...will see i guess :)
Lol Fulgur means lightning or flash of light and I’m pretty sure it’s Latin or something but yeah Vulgar Anjanath is way better ⚡️ 🦖
I like Savage Deviljho as a fight, but the lore makes me sad, and loses the funny jokey pickle hungry.

It’s all so topsy turvy and I love it
Bruh, Tigrex/ Brute Tigrex are my fav monsters
He couldnt handle the black pickle 😏
Strange, I thought you already did this.
He only did it with World monsters
the subspecies from iceborne are some of my favorite monsters in the entire game, they took some of the monsters I used to grind soo much back in the main game and made a completely new fight, and I just loved that.
Namielle, doesn't one shot you though, at least not if you play the game really complitionist style, do all optional quest and just play slowly.
You're a teacher? I didn't know that
Such heresy, you say velkhana is ranked higher than ruiner.
Wow I don't see elder dragons becoming someone's favorite.
*Incoming train of salty hunters for Jay hating "X" monster because he doesn't like skill-based gameplay*
No really though, people typically really love dragon element and Jay doesn't so I can see some salt incoming for that.
I can not wait until you play mhgu.
Also I get a s a consumer having fun is important but for many of these rating it seems like they get put lower simply because the were more difficult Ex: Savage Deviljho, even though its a Master Rank level monster and designed to be more difficult(No hate)
Raging Brachy in the top as it should be.

Correct me if i'm wrong
For Namielle u don't lie getting ko-Ed in one shot but put alatreon that high?
Bruh said "Rathalos should just be rathalos, don't try to variantize him" thatd be alot less content if no monster had a variant or subspecies to them dont u think?
#31 Sqaud!
I hope for a day when Tigrex isnt in a MH game.
all new world hunters say the same thing about the metal raths. they're wrong but still XD
