This woman amazes me. The making of this, the Winter Bird video, shows me that Aurora can do anything she puts her mind to. The video was technically put together and filmed at Carnegie Mellon Robotics Institute in Pittsburg, PA. And Aurora was the writer, creator, singer, choreographer and video mastermind for the whole project. If I am the Dean of Students at CMU I'm giving her an honorary degree. You Gooooo Girl . . . . {-.-}
For me the song is basically about a person withdrawing into his dream world, where everything is beautiful, in order to draw strength from it for the next day and maybe draw joy in life again when the days seem dreary and you are not particularly alive feels. She dreams of places where she feels most comfortable. In Aurora's case here, it's winter and the cold. The drones are a nice stylistic device here. If you want to draw a parallel between lyrics and video and Aurora's preferences for insects (the term drone comes from entomology), then the cocoon would be her bed in which she lies down to dream and then wake up again as a "new" person. Strengthened by the beautiful dreams. I would guess now. Given how cold the video is, even Aurora exudes coldness, but then the close-ups come on her face and eyes. How much warmth it radiates. I find an incredibly great contrast stylistically. A really beautiful song. Like everyone actually
@@simonturner138 It is quite painful and haunting, but after just one listen, you will never forget it , you will appreciate the calm love in her voice, and you will love your loved ones, just a little bit more....
I've never heard this song before, and it was such a joy to experience a new Aurora song! And that's really what a song from Aurora is: a beautiful new experience! I love your thoughts on the meaning of the song; It resonates with the way she presents herself.
To me the song has always felt like it is about depression and the struggle to beat it, but more broadly from cocoon in the video, that we all have the capability to evolve as people. Wether that is beating depression, moving on from something tragic, or simply desiding to be a nicer person today. We are never too old, and it is never too late to evolve. We all have the ability, we just have to find the will.
It is very hard to point a song from Aurora for you to react because all of them are very unique and special, but the one I would like to see next is SOFT UNIVERSE - live at Nidarosdomen. It hits me like a supernova. You cannot be ready for that.
As mentioned below, there is a documentary showing Aurora working with an Institute of Robotics to make this video happening - where Aurora herself participate.
the robotics lab at Carnegie Mellon Institute in Pittsburg built this whole project from scratch with Aurora's input & help to realize the end product with video. There is a how to video on it's making. Please check it out. It's quite interesting . . .
You should check out the “making of” video for this music video. Aurora and her team asked a robotics institution to program drones to do these movements. It wasn’t easy and there were lots of failures but eventually they got the drones to work.
As usual thx for Aurora reaction. This song is for sure in my big number of favourite Aurora songs:). I think you did not reacted to Teardrop cover from Aurora. Recommend this cover:)
Yeah, you are right (or Aurora) that we are trapped in this world of technical gadgets and social media etc. 😏 Just look at me.. Sitting with my nose in the screen watching all these reactions to Aurora and Angelina.. 😋 Tomorow I will go fishing instead.. 😁
There is a video about the filming of this and the many times the drones crashed to the ground when the computer program froze. This was all AURORA's ideas. hunt for it 8^)
love watching AuRoRa use those dancing skills. if you haven't seen her dance vid "Feeling Good", check it out. not a react. just her and a friend performing, but its good. thx HxC!
This is where it all started , performing at a 10th grade ceremony. Only a snippet ua-cam.com/video/3MS7iax8qyI/v-deo.html , this is the whole song (audio) ua-cam.com/video/SaK5pCR5eVU/v-deo.html
@@justjulie37 I love the version at Eurosonic 2015, when she forgot the lyrics and the audience helped her out. She is so adorable there: ua-cam.com/video/6jameESixWg/v-deo.html But in the end, I like the version of Trygdekontoret the most.
@@justjulie37 I love both at Nidarostomen and the live in the studio where she’s playing piano but agree the whole performance at Nidarostomen is breathtakingly beautiful and magical!

In this video she really shows how good her dancing skills are

AURORA is Leeloo of our times.
" why did you have to go" - AURORA - it will stay with you , just like Daydreamer....
I've just asked for the same. But to be fair I have only listened to it twice. It's too painful.

She’s the best singer alive Fam I keep telling people.
Her song soulless creatures (live in Bergen) is beautiful, with a powerful message, I think you're gonna like it :)

There's a video which explains how the cocoon was built and I think Aurora speaks about the song itself also.

I agree. The live version of Soft Universe in Nidarosdomen is much better than the album version
I recommend her recent live performance (2020) with the Bergen Philharmonic -- esp. "Soulless Creatures" and "The Seed"

Wait 'til you see the behind the scenes video. Other commentors already pointed it out. It's very cool how she worked with the techies on this. :)

Agree 100% with Aurora, I'm all tech but want to live with nature. So hard to find the balance...
