I wish to update you on my ukulele journey. At 20 months of ukulele practice, self-taught with help of your & other UA-cam tutorials, progressing at my own uneven pace (I am a senior, learning slowly & late in life); I made a breakthrough this week. I can do the chuck pattern: D. U. X. U I can do it in the song "Proud Mary" The main tip that helped me was "It is the difference between falling backward on the bed & throwing yourself backward on the bed"
Wonderful! Thanks for letting me know that tip was helpful. You are not learning slowly. I have seen 13 year olds struggle and become frustrated because they can't handle being wrong. I teach music at the university level for non-musicians and my students are just finishing up with research on the benefits of playing music for the brain, mental outlook and general health. You are doing yourself a huge favor by learning music.
