Great episode guys! Super comprehensive. I got left behind on points and budget with my LEC - TSU - MAG - HUL - ZHO - RBR - FER team last week. 9.8k to 16.8k rank. I have 112.3M in my budget now and 3 free transfers for Canada. I like LEC - STR - TSU - MAG - HUL - MCL - FER for the balance and great C-tier driver lineup. STR's driving style seems to suit the rain too, he could be a sneaky good pick coming off a sketchy weekend in Monaco. If I am impressed by RBR I can see myself running LEC - TSU - OCO - MAG - HUL - RBR - FER, and if MCL are amazing I might even go for NOR - TSU - OCO - MAG - HUL - MCL - FER.
That's rough, I really liked that lineup going into Monaco too. For teams looking to catch up on budget, I agree that Stroll gives us some good upside . With so many Tier C drivers you're hedging your bets for DNFs too, if one of those guys retires it'll lower the average enough to ensure your other drivers will get decent $$ gains. Right now I'm hearing that Canada resembles Monaco enough with the braking and traction profile that we may see another battle between the top 3 teams. I'm hoping that this week goes a little easier on us, my heart can't handle another Monaco.
Great preview was always guys can’t wait to discuss things in depth on the live stream on Saturday. Lots to cover this week with weather, updates and more
That's going to be huge, Terry. A few grumblings about a Williams upgrade and also assessing overtakes on a circuit that hasn't been great for passing but has also been hampered by weather. Hopefully you can set us straight!
Ive somehow managed to get 118.6 M budget, thinking of going Fer, Merc (picking in hopes they get a decent budget boost this week), Lec, Pia, Yuki, Kmag, Ocon (praying for some nice overtakes)
That’s a huge budget, nice work! I’ve heard lots of buzz about Mercedes this week and they plan to give Lewis the new front wing that helped George in Monaco. Hopefully we have an uneventful weekend so you get those cost gap gains!
My budget doesn't allow for FER/MCL with both Charles and Oscar. Would it be better to go for 2 premium drivers with FER/MER or stick with FER/MCL with Charles and the better budget drivers like Yuki, Kmag, Hulk and maybe Albon or Ocon?
I’d vote for the latter of the two. The drop off from McLaren to Mercedes in a given week can be big, so I’d roll with Charles and a rock solid midfield. More upside drivers in the midfield will lead to price gains so you can afford more premium lineups.
I think all those 112 guys are now over 115 after Monaco. I know I'm one of them. Maybe 114- 115.5 should be the mean points team to discuss? Just a thought. Loved all the puns: Shakespeare and Pros and Ocon. Speaking of him...would love to have him for overtakes and now that the news has broken that he's leaving the team...I think he'd due for a good one. Unfortunately I'd have to drop Oscar for him, so it's a non-starter for me. Great stuff as always guys!
I’m also in a weird budget spot and can’t find a way to get Ocon in. Maybe the sims will help me get creative. Point taken on the cost cap situation. Maybe we can run polls after the race week to better assess where most of our audience is.
My plan to Canada at. Moment. Teams: FER - MCL. I dont see reason, why I should use tranfers to get rbr. Also Merc is long shot to me. (Might be good option if that is only way to get two tier b drivers) RBR is not option at momen, because would get me away from bbccc. If you look last races pitstops, rbr havent been that dominant what it used to be. Mercedesh is risky move, what might be good option for low budget players or need to look different way to close up on their league. Drivers: Leclerc - Piastri - Tsunoda - Hulk - Gasly. Sainz to Piasti to make more reliable team. Kinda happy with my tier c drivers, but les see what i do after practices My points to choose tier c drivers: -How easy to overtake on track. I prefer to use low quali drivers on tracks, where is lot of overtakes (like Zhou). They wont loose places and get minus points. I use good quali drivers on tracks, where is harder to overtake. -How reliable they are. Worts nightmare is to get dnf, so i try to avoid risky drivers like Sargeant. -Use fantasy tools to pick specially when you are not sure between drivers. Points to tier a and b drivers -These are more reliable drivers, who have smaller possibility to get in accidents -Tier b driver most likely grow your budget. Specially with Sainz, Leclerc and Piastri. -I prefer Leclerc over Norris, because budget grow. Leclerc need atleast two and max 5 race to get tier a. - Lecl - Piastri combo give most reliable driver combo at moment. To rely two same team drivers can backfire, but also give lot of points.
That logic makes a lot of sense, after the last few weeks RBR are falling out of favor because of their price. I'm on Sainz and considering Piastri and Rob is the opposite so hopefully FP will show us which driver is looking better. One thing I'm nervous about with the overtakes is rain. We had a wet Canadian race last year and it really killed the overtaking. If it's wet, I may have to walk back my take on Ocon's upside.
@@F1FantasyHQ I agree. Ocon's is have good potential but also risk not to work. Canada is one of hardest races to overtake, what makes so much harder to predict best tier c drivers. Just have kinda feeling that driverrs who start p15-p20, have better possibility to get budget grow and points.
That’s in part why we recommend Ocon, he has a 5 place grid penalty so I suspect he’ll start at the back. I’d prefer him over slower cars like Sargeant or a Sauber despite the overtaking difficulties at this circuit
I am currently running LEC/SAI/HUL/TSU/BOT FER/MCL. Given Piastris performance in Monaco is it advisable to swap sainz for piastri and bottas for someone like pierre gasly or canada?
For that decision I’d hold tight for FP3. Whoever stands out the most in practice is who I’ll run with. Piastri enables a better budget driver (and spreads out the risk of triple FER) as you said while Sainz has been more consistent this year.
I’m currently at $116.5M with FER, MCL, Lec, Pia, Hulk, Zho, Bot and 3 transfers available. Contingent on practice, but would you rather go Yuki/Zho or Hulk/Kmag?
Before FP3, I’d take the highest upside driver in Tsunoda. He’s the only one that regularly contends for top 10 finishes and his price gains have been great.
@@jmoretti17 I'll warn you: Rob and I disagree on this one. Certainly, let's see if practices changes the landscape but I think Ocon's penalty gives him a higher upside than Tsunoda. Plus Hulk qualified P2 here last year so I like him a bit more than Zhou, who will likely start in the back 2 rows .
Right now, I'd sit tight and see how practice shapes up. If I had your team the 2 things I'd keep an eye out for are: 1. Piastri vs. Sainz. If Ferrari look quicker, consider Sainz for Piastri and downgrade Tsunoda to afford the switch. 2. I love Ocon after the penalty, so Ocon/Hulk for TSU/ZHO is possible too. I'd understand if you roll back this lineup and carry a free transfer to the next race too.

I was upset that Hulkenberg's DNF lost me points, but then I saw someone having negative points for the weekend💀
The spread between the “haves” and the “have nots” was huge!
No one had a worse day at the fantasy office than that person...

Why everyone is preferring OCON
His overtake potential especially with the Monaco penalty carrying over
We’re hoping to buy low on him, I expect he’ll be on his best behavior as he finds seat for 2025
