    He's saying that by rentering later on when you've made it will help the community grow. He's talking about reinvesting the money into the neighborhood so that it isn't as violent or poverty ridden for your kids and the kids in the neighborhood therefore making better people.

      Also it is a way fight against gentrification. you have more control of who comes in and ensuring affordable housing for the people who grew up in the neighborhood.

      @Bumps in the night. I agree with you about section 8 for the most part. In my experience they do trash the place because they do not know how to take care of themselves and definitely not a house but you do know the majority beneficiary of section 8 are white people. Also changes your user name. it sounds like herpes.

    The "Barbershop" is a central point in urban communities where the old mentor young men growing, while finding themselves. Edgewood is my neighborhood and enjoy investing in it.

  • @marsinpluto

    Its a nice idea to re-enter your old neighborhoods. I tried it. A lot of housing in my home town is in shambles. A friend of mine invested in the stock market for a few years, made some $ and then decided to buy houses, fix them up and rent out. We did our best to do right by people. We listened to every type of sob story. We were robbed many times by freeloaders, houses were broken into a few times. After about 2 years of turmoil things were looking up. Had good renters for a while. The neighborhood what just looking brighter! Then one day a local gang did a drive by through the neighborhood and shot 3 black dads in front of their kids, specifically black dads in front of their kids. I was one of them. I was the only one who survived. I heard later that it was a part of gang initiation to do that. One man was arrested, was caught on camera. I left and never went back.
    Re-entrification is a nice idea, until you get a bullet in your back from people who don't want things to be nice. There is an element in these cities that want it to be that way, it is how they make $, it is their source of power.

I might not agree with everything he says or thinks but damn if I wouldn't buy him a beer even though he can afford it much more than me. Never the less I'd be more than happy and willing to buy him a beer just to pick his brain for the time it takes to drink said beer. Or I'd gladly smoke with him if he'd allow me to. @@johnnyrebel1115 Basically in the black community its a problem w/ depleting resources. If all of the affluent and capable people automatically leave , what is left ? You have the lowest and least educated left. You can not complain about the white man not caring about the community when u dont. This is the result of desegregation. It s FACT that prior to the 60s-70s you had thriving black communities w/ businesses and professionals such as DRs and Lawyers. After segregation those educated black families fled to go live amongst whites. Most blacks measure their success by their proximity to white people.

    • @nzwaywish
      @nzwaywish 5 років тому +2

      When the change brings higher rent, rising living costs, neighbors that have power to change how the neighborhood was for decades, etc them not having respect for the neighborhood and its history. Plus gentrification isnt a black thing. Its just what happens in cities that are.being neglected but have high resources so out of town niggas c9me.in and snatch it. Why wouldnt you be upset if knowing a starbucks opening up.is goong to.mean higher rent and pretentious neighbors.

    • @nedisahonkey
      @nedisahonkey 5 років тому

      Protestants were the dominant and majority (in the societal not statsitcal sense of the word) power in Belfast so Catholics and Immigrants moving in was progressive. Especially with how popular the racist and anti-immigration DUP still is among Ulster protestants. So the situation you're describing would be more akin to black people moving into a traditionally rich white area. And while that may be progressive, there is nothing progressive about rich white people moving into a neighborhood and pricing out its original inhabitants and turning it into a boring, homogenous and less ethnically diverse place.

    I don't give a fuck what color you are,if you are blue collar and came up with nothing but love and your family worked hard to give you something then you can understand and appreciate the struggle of another family who went through the same thing. I live north of Cincinnati Ohio and I live in an area that once had a tremendous safe making industry. The safes that are in some of the biggest banks and even some in fort Knox were made in my city,and now they're gone. The little towns outside my city have sprung up all kinds of different industries but my city doesn't make anything anymore and these companies left in the late 1980s to the early 1990s and I can tell you with complete honesty that a big reason why people in my city aged 18-45 have problems with opiates and other drugs is because they didn't have the same opportunity to work like here like the older generations did. Not only is it up to us to continue to build up our community's and give back but it's also up to the business leaders to stay and give these jobs to the next generation of people who want to live the American dream. I have this fantasy where I win the lottery and instead of leaving like most people would,I would stay and use my money to create businesses that weren't minimum wage jobs but actual great paying jobs that people could have and retire from and then do the same for their children so that I can give back in a way that is good for several generations of people in my city. Yeah I'd be rich and yeah I could leave and build a mansion in California or live in a beautiful mansion in Hawaii but I'd stay and create opportunities for the people who have none in my community. I'd pay them a livable wage to be able to buy a home and have savings that allow them to retire and live good lives.

    The last minute of the this video is one of the main reasons why people sell their parents property. They DON'T want to listen to LOUD ASS music all the time. They DON'T want to smell WEED everyday.

    Man I grew up in LA, Maxine Waters district to be exact. I do NOT want to move back there. My dad still lives there but I visit. My approach is you cant save everybody or a neighborhood. Sadly, i'm out for self and my family. Everyone else will have to figure that out themselves

      I guess, this narrative was stated by Lil Bibby, Boosie who made these claims, along with published research on the subject from XXL MAG that 98% of Rappers who get murdered are killed in their hometown.

      @@livefree1030 both of those guys are in the streets . Shot at people and have major beef. Any rapper you know that had been killed in thier hood. Died in the hands of old or new enemies . It doesn't just happen to happen . Rappers feed the entire neighborhood in sort ways why would people get rid of the cash source? Makes no sense.
