Who has daddy issues? These two, in spades. Punch through that drywall and worship Satan just like your boys, Angron and Lorgar.
I love this bit. Lorgar cares for his brother, but uses him as a tool for his own devices at the same time.
I'm not sure if you could tell... but I reaaaaaally got into this one. Voicing Angron is so much fun.

Angron was destined for so much more. His psychic gift made him an empath before the butcher's nails suppressed it. He would have been the kindest of the primarchs, with his ability to sense emotions, perhaps he could have prevented the envy and spite that took root in Horus, leaving him susceptible to corruption by the dark gods. While this hasn't been explicitly stated, I firmly believe Angron arriving on Nuceria was a cruel ploy by Tzeentch to take what Angron could have been off the board.

    • @TalesOfTerraVA
      @TalesOfTerraVA  Рік тому +15

He was treated by far the worst by the Emperor. If Angron had been allowed to liberate Nuceria he would've stayed loyal without question. Mortarion for example has basically no redeeming qualities and the Emperor essentially liberated Barbarus for him, as he would've died without the Emperor's help.

The Red Angel was lost the moment those evil slaver bastards mutilated his brain. Part of his personality, his "heart", and his "soul" were sliced out when they cut into his brain, and he could never be the same again. Even if the Emperor had helped his gladiators defeat the high rider military, he still was left a wreck and was dying slowly from it. Angron never had a chance. And THAT is one of the greatest tragedies of 40K. His "homeworld" was even worse of a situation than what happened to Konrad Curze on Nostromo, and it's beyond sad. While it would deeply insult him, I can see why others would pity him.

@@TalesOfTerraVA Oh yeah he's a more refreshing villain than most in 40k and there's a lot lol because he's not some sadistic bully who got nudged into further evil but is genuinely trying to do the right thing in his mind. Humans are aware of bad people who do bad things because they don't care, Lorgar is the opposite. Lorgar is one of those people who falls because he DOES care and I think we tend to hate villains like that ie the 40k fandom mostly despising Lorgar because they make us uncomfortable with the notion that a person's sense of compassion and morality could turn them evil rather than good. We'd like to believe our positive aspects as a species are wholly good and incorruptible, when that's not the case.

His demeanour was portrayed well. Angron was spot on too his voice sounds gruff like he screams alot which is accurate. And the slight voice crack/tone shift at 7:15 makes me feel you got in character for that part because it was perfect!

Thanks so much mate! I feel their opposites kept this really dynamic. Yeah I was fully into it in the booth at that point! Got a bit emotional thinking how broken Angron is and how the only thing that makes him feel, is prowess in battle.
This was actually half of what I originally recorded from this chapter, as whilst I’m building up my audience I’m trying to stick to shorter videos to help with retention. There’s of course the bit where Lorgar gets struck with the warhound titan’s lazcannon/plasma cannon and Angron holds it up, but I’m not sure if there will be as much appeal for the less dialogue heavy bits. Any others you can think of?
I found the bit you suggested with Curze and Sanguinius in Pharos and I’ve started generating the images for it in advance of recording. The dialogue is SO good and I’ve found some great voices for both characters.

    • @ironduke5058
      @ironduke5058 Рік тому +1

@@TalesOfTerraVA The shorter videos thing is good thinking on your part that's pretty smart. So I suggest that when you get a bit bigger, maybe try to get into contact with some other 40k lore channels, especially the ones that like to tell stories and such like Warrior Tier or A Vox in The Void (Now there's a voice actor). I think they'd be open to Collabs for greater immersion in their stories and their audiences are bigger.
As to stories for you to narrate? Hmmm okay let me just rattle them of rapid fire and you can choose what you like. So I'm thinking:
Horus finding out about the black rage and being shocked at what Sanguinius has to do to his fallen sons but understanding. He even promises Sanguinius he won't tell their father. This is in "Fear to Tread"
The Big E introducing Vulkan to Ferrus and Ferrus being surprised by how much of a monster of a fighter Vulkan is. This is in short story "Mercy of the Dragon"
Dorn confronting Kurze after their legions took a planet together and telling him that he doesn't need to keep killing people now that the planet is theirs. An argument ensues and Kurze gives a scared man a gun to make a point. This is in a pretty old short story I think it's "The Dark King".
Sanguinius' first meeting with Jaghtai. Jaghtai boards the Angel's ship and they have a pleasant chat and he even makes the Khan smile with a joke. They then get a bit more serious and talk about instating the Librarious into the legions. This is in Jaghtai's Primarch book.
Konrad rambling to a meat statue of the Emperor he made until the statue explodes in a ray of light and to his shock he hears Big E talking to him. They dialogue and Big E tells him he forgives him, then Konrad howls and does his thing. This is in his Primarch novel " The Night Haunter"
Sanguinius confides his feelings of insecurity and doubt about the whole Imperium Secundus thing in Guilliman and they have a brotherly chat. This is also in "Unremembered Empire" I believe.
Perturabo calls Fulgrim to his workshop to talk and then bashes his head into his work bench when he doesn't expect it and beat his face in while choking him. He tells him that he needs to get his crap in order and learn to follow orders if he wants the heresy to go well and Perty is super pissed. I forgot where this takes place in but I'll find it for you. Edit: This is from "Angel Exterminatus".
The Emperor and Malcador having a long range psychic conversation during the Heresy. The Webway project is busted at this point and they get to talking about what the other Primarchs are up to and who they can trust. This one is suuperr interesting and happens in "The Vengeful Spirit". Edit: The project was busted, not "busy". Small error.
And finally, the burning of Monarchia. I'm pretty sure we both know what happens here and how intense and juicy the dialogue is. This happens in "The First Heretic"

@@ironduke5058 Yes I will absolutely do that in the future when I've got a bit more standing! Vox in the Void is brilliant. I may play around with the idea of transforming written works into audio dramas like he does when I'm confidently fluid with my current production process. I love the idea of a collab with other voice actors, I agree that it would be more immersive having different timbres of voice in tandem.
I only meant Lorgar and Angron bits but you've given me a fantastic repository to work from here which is beyond helpful!! Bloody legend mate thankyou!
Oh god that bit with Kurze and the meat statue of the Emperor... I MUST do that at some point. I completely forgot about that part. Really enjoyed that book.
I'll definitely do the bit with Perturabo and Fulgrim too. That's been suggested by someone else and it's a short, impactful bit that would work great for a quick video.
Also, I have a feedback request if you don't mind... what do you think of the intro at the beginning? My intention was to have some memorable branding to remind returning viewers they're back in safe hands for another episode, almost like hearing the theme song of your favourite show. I made it slightly shorter on the new video but I'm debating whether it's necessary at all after looking at the retention graph. It seems people are either a. skipping it and moving to the start of the narration or b. quickly changing to another video which a lot of viewers will do. Hard to tell.

@@TalesOfTerraVA I'm glad you're liking the idea. Remember me the day you stand chest height with warrior tier, Baldemort and the other giants!
Ahh sorry it seems it was a miscommunication, but hey it sounds like a welcome error so you're welcom I guess haha.
But if you want more Angron and Lorgar, there's a time where they both board an Eldar ship and have a great time as they massacre. Angron almost slips to the nails as usual but he hears Lorgar calling him and with joy saying: "Brother! Your armour, make it red! Use them to make it red, like me brother haha, watch!" They then proceed to play a game where they try to paint their armour red with Eldar blood by squishing them in various ways. It's super wholesome but I can't for the life of me remember the book it takes place in. Let me try to find it. Edit: Hmmm can't seem to find it but I narrowed it down to one of the books during the Shadow Crusade.
I'm excited for that Kurze bit, it's one of my personal favourites.
Hmm well I feel like having an intro is normal, almost every 40k voice actor has their trademark intro and there are always gonna be people who are more interested in hearing the scene only than the intro. I personally like the intro for the exact reason you stated, but if I would change anything I'd maybe make it a bit shorter as it's currently 15s long where as I've taken a listen and found that 10s sounds fine to me too. Maybe the intro is still too long for others and that's why some people skip? But the final decision is up to you at the end of the day and you set the tone for your own channel. It's fine so long as you like it.

@@ironduke5058 I promise I will! The support I get from anyone when I'm very new to this means a lot and helps maintain my drive to keep releasing new stuff.
      It's a very welcome one!
Ah yes I remember that! I think that was my first foray into any 40k/HH audiobooks whatsoever. I've got a feeling it's part of the audible Horus Heresy intro collection which has 5 short stories. I'll have to see if I can find it.
I think it will be a lot of fun to plunge into total insanity for an afternoon haha.
Thanks for the feedback! I may keep it for now and as long as it doesn't seem to have any negative effects on retention overall then keep it, but yes I think making it a little shorter might be possible.

I can't help but state that the Emperor COULD have saved them, rather then teleported him and him alone to the War Hounds' flagship. The excuse of he simply didn't have time was absolute bullshit, seeing as after finding Angron, he found Corrax, who he sat down and listened to him talk for hours on end. He could have saved the slaves and Angron to. Hell, standing beside his son in that moment and assist him in killing the Highriders who enslaved his son would've been enough to at least endear himself to Angron into leaving the world behind. Out of 20 primarchs....Angron is the only failure

I guess it depends how you define failure! Mortarion also failed to liberate his homeworld without the Emperor's help, so we could throw his lot in as well. I think Angron had the worst hand out of them all though. Curze had the option to be truly just, but Angron was fucked from the start.

      Primarch 2 & 11?
      No
In the lore, they were left as mysteries as to who they were and why they were censured
That way GW let's have a chance to fill in the blanks with homebrew primarchs and legions in their own head canons
