  • I need to move my water 600 feet away from my well. How will I do that without trenching or hauling? Use a ton of garden hoses, of course!
In this video, I show you a solution on how to move water around your off-grid property for hundreds of feet just by using garden hoses. I explain why I chose a regular garden hose over poly, and learn how to connect a garden hose to a well water system.
Finally, I test to see if my off-grid well pump can move the water 600 feet to my garden. Watch the video to the end to find out!

I guess burying the hose would help with keeping the water cool? Has the hot sun heated water damaged any of your plants?
I bet you could make some great hot water energy systems with hose laid out in the hot Arizona sun! Or do a geothermal coil to help heat your house in the winter?

The water gets quite hot in the summer, but it all goes thru my tanks and that seems to not be as hot. Since I have the drip irrigation on the plants, I haven't noticed any damage. Yes, the hot water heating with hose or tubes is very effective!

How do you think those will hold up during the winter? I’m planning so do the same thing you’re doing in AZ. A friend did this using PVC but the hose is cheaper.

So far, they have held up great. In the winter, they will freeze but I think the hose will expand. I am renting a ditcher ASAP and putting it all underground so I don't have to worry about it.
