When I bought this guitar, the out of phase sound doesn´t make me happy.
I think, that all 3 pickup positions sound better without this upgrade.......
The following changes were made on this Gibson ES-335 made in Memphis:
*ultrathin nitro refinish, red stain and 1 clear lacquer
    *brass-free pickup covers
*old A3- magnets in the Burtstbucker PAFs
*1965 tun-Matic bridge with 3 nylon and 3 brass saddles
*NEW binding on neck and body
    *„Hare Krishna“ stamp
    *Gibson reflector knobs
*Crazypatzs Wiring Harness "ES 1960-1970" with CTS Pots and Bumblebees *holes from a Bigsby B7 installation
*old heavy stop tailpiece - a new all stop tailpiece is ordered!

Can someone tell me why the magnet must be flipped for the peter green sound. You can just turn the pickup 180° without soldering. Your pole pieces are a little further away from the neck but it's not a big difference because the other coil hidden under the cover is picking up the vibrations too. I dont get it.

That "Mistake" Mr Green made when messing with his pick-up probably had a lot to do with his "uniqueness" I think he was destined to be a Guitar virtuoso, everyone can see how he and that Guitar bonded. Even when he played really basic tunes his tone always stood out. If you try this magnet reversal for yourself you will immediately notice your playing style change. Thanks for the Demo and "Man, just keep that 335 stock cos it sounds and looks ace"!

interesting way of "flipping the magnet"... does that magnet works sideways?

I think it's your opinion that matters. It worked well for Peter, very well.. Does it work for you?

In the list of changes made, you listed: * "Hare Krishna" stamp.....I'm very curious about that. Can you please explain that for me? Thanks for the video, as I'm going to do the 'out of phase' thing on my SG.

Hi James, great! The stamp was installed by the preowner and like Eric Clapton put this stamp on his 335 he does the same.

Hi, I'd like to try flipping the magnet of my 345's neck pick up. Any tips on what I'll need to watch out and avoid? Thanks in advance!

      Hi!
I don´t have so much experience, but loosen the screws like I showed in the video and be very careful when you push and pull the magnet.
Thanks for watching and kind regards, Matt

Here's what happened: Removing the humbucker was no prob at all. But then I found myself unable to melt the tin solder that holds cover and bottom together. Gave up after a while, took it to somebody else and had them cut it open with a tiny grinder. They then had to force out the magnet - no easy feat either - flipped it as described and moved it back in. Reasembly was no isssue. I like the sound result - out of phase is my most used pickup setting. And having this on my Gibson now, too has inspired me to use it at several gigs by now. In hindsight, I would have taken the guitar to a luthier and have him install a push/pull poti. Might still do this further on down the road. Anyway - thanks for the very informative video!
