What a beautiful video! The speaker's voice just tells us how much she loves fruit trees :) I enjoyed it a lot and now I want a green sapote tree! Thanks!!
Thanks for this beautiful. I am trying to grow one in Southern California (Montebello). The temperature for winter drops to as low as 32 but for the most part it is 40-50. I would like to know what’s the lowest Temperature that a green sapote can tolerate.
Thanks so much for this video, Kath!! I was hoping you would!! Can I please get your advice? I have a green sapote tree at home. I bought it grafted, and it's about 6 feet tall in the ground. It truly saddens me that it blooms, but it has never set fruit. Can you please let me know how to pollinate it? Is there a way to hand-pollinate? I'm tempted to take it out if it never fruits. :(
@@justmejus Perhaps you can ask the person you sourced it off if it's a Kasper Schnyder selection. This is the main selection that used to be grafted in Australia.
Green sapotes need to be grafted onto green or mamey sapote seedlings. The white sapote is more correctly called Casmiroa and it is not related, therefore is not a compatible rootstock. Happy grafting, Kath, Daleys Nursery

Do you know the name of the selection?
@@user-jy7yn1ro8j Sorry I don't know the exact variety that I have. If anyone can help with my question, please let me know!

@@user-jy7yn1ro8j I don't think it's a Kasper Schnyder selection. But do you happen to know how to pollinate green sapote so it sets fruit?
You have a lovely presence.
Mam , which one is more tasty ? Mamy or green sapote ?
Mamey for sure but similar tastes
Hi Kath... will this green sapote graft easily onto white sapote seedlings??
No. It's a different species.

Hi, how long does green sapote take to set fruits if we grow from seeds. Do you have seeds for sell?
It is a slow growing tree, she said it will fruits in about 7-8 years.
Good 555
Why do you no longer provide grafted Green Sapote? Many growers don't wanna grow a seedling then wait for 8+ yrs
We are hoping to graft some in 2020 Julius but we need to start by growing the rootstocks.

Where to buy seeds?
In 🇹🇹trinidad that fruit is called sapodilla
Wish there was a variety that I could grow in the Hunter Valley, frosts in winter though unfortunately
Pouteria Lucuma
