youre awesome and these videos are awesome but i just wish you would do a full play through of the song your playing first. it always seems scattered to me. sort of like a bunch of puzzle pieces.
Yeah it would be so cool if you broke these down a bit more simply step by step and made sure all the chords were clearly shown. But amazing chops and sharing
Perfect timing on posting this video! I'm currently learning this song right now and came across your old lesson of this song. Thank you for doing it step by step! It's a great song!
Not gonna lie I'm getting better from practicing and watching your videos but it's very challenging and intimidating looking at those chord shapes as a new guitarist
AJ the knowledgeable I understand it’s challenging, it’s always challenging when you’re learning new concepts. If you like my slower versions I encourage you to sign up at kerryskamp.com
Kerry, another great lesson, i know at one time you asked for input on your videos, not everyone is going to as familiar with the songs your teaching, it would be great to play the song or enough of it to give the listener an idea of what the end goal should be. In the example of this video your right into the lead line from the beginning of the song, no chord structure picture the lead line under etc. If someone has to leave your video to listen to the original, there's a good chance they mighty not make it back. My 2cents. Thanks
Every interpretation I hear, including yours, is killer especially with the modern licks and inflections but I try to stick with Donny's original version and embellish on that since that's the version/arrangement most folks know.
So you don't like it C11, you call it a 9sus4? Also I always saw that chord followed that 9sus4 as a diminished major 7th, I never thought of calling that a 13b9
Dope video... I play it similar on guitar but on piano I play it a little different. For instance the this Christmas walk down after the hang all the mistletoe part is Ebmaj7 Dmin7 C13sus4 and the chord after the f maj7 in the chorus is I believe you would call it a B7#11 (B7b5)... Maybe... Either way you're pretty much spot on. Love the vids bro.... Keep them coming
Will you share some better chords for "On Chill" by Wale (All I Ask of You by Tony Tone Toni?) All I find online for most RnB songs are basic major and minor chords.
Hey Kerry Can u tell me all the notes on guitar so i can practice them. the majors minors. so when u speak them i know where to go. Im pausing and googling. help me out a newbie, for real
Thanks again for checking out the lesson. Let me know in the comments how you play the song. What key do you use? What chords?
What scale would you use to solo over
B7b5 instead of Bm7b5 or half diminished like you played. I feel it voice leads better to AMaj7. Nice holiday lesson bro!
@@michaelfleming7139 FMaj pentatonic works over most of it… the EMaj7 and the “fireside is blazing bright” sections try EMaj and Amin, respectively
great tutorial! i think it's better to discuss the chords first then add the adlibs later to make it easier to understand. thanks for this!
This was amazing but, it's not step by step so there is NO WAY but it's great to know i can come back to this in years to learn when I'm ready
"2 Smooth" is spot on! Nice!!
Thanks for being here. I come to you every year to re learn this song. Merry Christmas everyone.

Who is here in 2020 trying to refresh what they learnt from last year 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Me! 😃
This year too
Yeah it would be so cool if you broke these down a bit more simply step by step and made sure all the chords were clearly shown. But amazing chops and sharing
Thanks bro. To me this is THE best version of this song. Love it.
Deon Doxie haha indeed
Nice adaptation! Glad to see a lesson paced for folks who already play. Also, sweet tone. Subscribed!
Man, I’m feelin that diminished walk my brotha. It sounds so much smoother than a minor 7th walk.
Love these voicings. My variation is a dominant 7th at the top of the chorus but the softer, no F#, voicing

Musicman The FAM I’m glad that this lesson was on time, I figured somebody would be asked to play this song around this time of year.
I managed to learn this song last year from your other video. This song was a real challenge at the time. Thank you!

Austin/Agustín Hubert good deal!!

Great song choice and your chord voicing and phrases are O SO TASTEY ... can’t WAIT to play and make this MINE: THANK YOU BRUH!!
The 2nd Chamber you’re more than welcome.

Ariel Bellvalaire good deal
So you don't like it C11, you call it a 9sus4? Also I always saw that chord followed that 9sus4 as a diminished major 7th, I never thought of calling that a 13b9
Also I saw the last chord as a half diminished chord. That's what it sounded like at least

mychal burnette good deal!
How to be you boss 🔥🔥
great job man, but i had to cut some of the passing chords because it was sounding to busy for the band. but i got it man
damn that's good!!!!!!
I love this Bru!
Awesome are there tabs?
Really would like to know what type of guitar should I get if I want to play R&B / Neo Soul songs?
Will you share some better chords for "On Chill" by Wale (All I Ask of You by Tony Tone Toni?) All I find online for most RnB songs are basic major and minor chords.
Thanks for this, Kerry. Just a heads up: at 3:42, you're playing a Bm7b5 but the chord diagram says Bm11.
What kind of guitar are you playing? Love the chords and the flavor you give bruh!
that c13b9 is so sweet but a pain to fret 😅 i'm leaving that high E: A note behind...
Alex Cruz haha good deal!!
I like to gutiar playing on your site however it would help if there was a tab and if the camera could show a closer view of the gutiar
As slow down the tutorial as it’s not easy to follow. Thanks
Hey Kerry Can u tell me all the notes on guitar so i can practice them. the majors minors. so when u speak them i know where to go. Im pausing and googling. help me out a newbie, for real
It seems at 3:49 you're playing a Bm7b5, but the chord charted is a B minor 11. Is that right?
yes
i would play a B altered #5#9
🔥
iddystrings appreciate it.
The new animated video that RHINO 🦏 put out brought me here.
What eclectic guitar do you recommend for beginners
Chika Lavalle a strat or whatever feels comfortable
Bro I watch your vids and this particular I would love to play but didn't display all the chord shapes...
I am a beginner and those chords are dope. Could you play them slower. I am truly a beginner
I am just leaving now to play the song. I really need your help.
What Guitar Is That..?
Elijah Humphrey This is in Eastman 486
@@Kerry2smooth Cool. Thanks.
A wonderful job teaching this song but its not easy to get all the chords down pat.
How do i get the video of you playing HOW DOES IT FEEL By D'Angelo ????
way2trill4u22 sign up kerryskamp.com
Why is he going so fast!? Guess his videos aren’t for beginners 😢
I wish that you would go slower.
Can you do a little more explaining as opposed to just playing the song over and over? Like actually explain more in depth what you’re doing?
