  • Always wanted to try out painting with oxides as they are, only with water.
This is the firs time I tried it, hope it gives you inspiration to go on and try it yourself maybe one day.

Beautiful work Imelda. I to am fascinated by oxides but they have o be tamed too.
    - Do you have recipes for your oxide mixes?
    - Do you add EPK or Gerst. Borate to that? Add a little EPK to the mix and that will help slow down the melting & prevent full run to bottom.
    - What clays? The white looks like Bmix with Speckles. And the Red is ??
    - cone?

Good luck! You can also try other oxides and acide combinations! ❤️

I dont want to use glaze on terracotta mugs , is there any way to seal it from the inside and still safe to use?

You can fire the clay to the highest point until it is compleatly closed.

You could possibly fire it in the saw dust technique, so the carbon of the burnt saw dust will seal the pores and also give it a glaze like effect

Hi, may I ask if this is fired in oxidation or reduction, and also which cone did you fire to? Thanks so much!

I have done that, it does give the black color but cant say it seals as it still is porous@@manidipadas440
