@Tom Jones No. It’s ^*Æbelskiver or æbelskiver, not appelskiver (yes I’m aware that æbel means apple). More importantly, aebelskiver are nothing like appam. Aebelskiver are a non-fermented cross between pancake and waffle batter with wheat flour, eggs and dairy and are 99.9% of the time sweet while appam are a rice and lentil batter that ferments overnight at room temperature and are savory 99.9% of the time. Additionally, the cooking methods are similar but not the same. I guarantee you there is nothing like this in Denmark. They truly are not akin.

The Danish people are part of the remnants of the Biblical clan of "Dan", as are many peoples of the Asian subcontinent. The cooking method of batter into a round bottomed heavy pan is found in regions known for having Dan people living there. I was unaware that the appam batter is fermented overnight (a type of sourdough, since it relies on natural yeasts for leavening), but it must be very tasty that way. My former Danish mother-in-law made her batter very similarly, adding a set amount of yeast and then allowing it to rise (ferment) overnight in her icebox. This is technically called a "poolish", and is a very reliable way to achieve great baking flavor and consistent results. She did make both sweet and savory, though sweet were more frequent.
Appam is more dosa style. This video shows more like paddu or gunta pangalu. However no complaints from South Indians as they have added ingredients in proportion. In other videos we have seen South Indian recipes being destroyed to the point that we feel like forming save dosa foundation.

This is modified version of traditional 'Gunta panganalu' in telugu and 'Kuzi pongal' in tamil. Dosa batter is used for this purpose. All the best to the couple

Because whenever I see they took cheese on every single thing there is no need of this new creation this is my thought.
