- Hi, Friends!
I'm so eager to update all of you on what I've been up to! I've got some WIPS, a new spontaneous cast on, some plans AND I've attended a local fiber festival here in the Pittsburgh area.
I've created chapters around the acquisition part of this video so you can skip it if you choose.

Knit Picks Stroll is a sock yarn as is Knit Picks Hawthorn, they make wonderfully comfortable socks. The Patons Kroy sock yarn is heavier, more like sport weight, so heavier socks.
Interesting, Patricia. That explains it.. since I’ve only used Patons and Hawthorne, I haven’t worked with a yarn like Stroll. I think I’ll try it by itself. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.
Wool & Company in Illinois carries a plethora of yarns including La Bien Aimee and they do not charge shipping. It’s a great resource. Happy knitting!
Oh do they carry La Bien Amee? Wow. Thanks for the recommendation!
Put a couple lavender sachet in with your yarn to keep moths out!
Oh, that’s right! I’m jotting that down. Do you have a place you get them from that you like?
@@AdventurerKnits My friend has a wool fabric business and after I spoke to her, she offered to send you a couple of freebies! Would that be of interest to you?
If the collar looks good while on, I wouldnt worry about it how it looks otherwise. If you dont end up liking how it looks while on, you can try and fix it with "sweater surgery". Thats where you would put in a lifeline right beneath the collar, cut the yarn and remove the collar in one big chunk, then use your lifeline to put stitches back on your needle and knit a new collar. Im facing the same dilemma with a sweater im currently working on where the collar is just atrocious, and Im planning on using some surgery to fix it.
Ryan, oh yes the life line!! Brilliant. I had to do that with my sweater sleeve because I did the decreases wrong. Yes. Thank you!!!
I think hubby was right and the festival sounded actually wonderful with lots of great vendors and booths- Im a quilter and reader, beginner knitter and sadly my friends aren’t knitters, - I found out there is a small group at the local Lutheran Church - I may go to a meeting, but it will be after I fly to Boston , for my Granddaughter’s wedding in Salem. Actually I fly first into my sons who is in Ct and we will drive up from there. While in Ma, I will make a point to stop at the knit store( Black Sheep knitting) I watch on u-tube in Needham. I am staying while there in area with friends on the Cape and Boston area so, my old stomping ground, now that I am retired SC - I have some beautiful fabric for a Sophie scarf (cashmere blend) Your sweater coming out great - love the color. You are so adventurous, I am a safe knitter, and need some of your gusto!!😊
Thanks for the feedback, Virginia. I appreciate it. It must be fun to stop in Black Sheep when you’re in the area. It makes it a super special treat then! I hope you have a lovely time at the wedding. 🥰🥰
I love your Patrons Kroy sock. I have that colorway in my stash and it looks very cute in your shorty sock. I also went to my first wool festival this year. I loved it but learned very quickly that next time I need to have projects in mind before I go. I got so overwhelmed with all the vendors and beautiful yarn. I tried to stay in budget and found a few beautiful skeins for a special project for me…👍 Next time though… I’m gonna be a little more prepared. Reinbeck is definitely on my bucket list in the next few years. 😊
Oh I’m glad you got to see the Patons you have in a sock. My fave cushy yarn so far. Which ones do you like to use? I do think it’s smart to start off with a smaller festival I’m so glad I went. Thanks for watching!
I loved hearing about your first yarn festival, so kind of your husband to encourage you to go while he worked at home - hats off to the gentle domestic life lol. Interestingly enough I think that base you liked with the alpaca and cotton is the same one I used for my self dyed oxford pullover earlier in the year. I really love the colour of your self striping sock, we don't have Kroy in Australia at all. Your idea about tying a bit of yarn at the halfway point on your skein is genius! I thought maybe just a slip knot at that point if you think your yarn tie might move. Unfortunately you won't be able to unravel your neckline if it was knitted top down, you'll have to cut it if you want to re-do it and tbh with a slippery yarn I wouldn't recommend it except as a last resort, the elastic is a good idea. But if it sits ok then why worry at all? I feel your plan on having only a single tub of stash might come unstuck if you do end up going to Rhinebeck .... thanks for your channel!
Hello! Thanks for the feedback. I hadn’t thought about that…the top down collar on the red shirt! Darn. I’m about to record another episode and you’ll see there what’s happened since! ☺️🥹🥰. Knitting woes. What I adore about your channel is although you’ve been knitting for many years, you run up against challenges and you show us what you’ve chosen to do. It’s so helpful.
I know…the yarn I bought is so vibrant fuschia, isn’t it? I’m working with it now and it’s an absolute dream!
Hi Renee, I love watching your knitting journey. Regarding the neckline of your sweater, you could also use elastic thread to cinch it up. Just weave it through the stitches around the neck band.
Hi Terry. Oh, what a great idea! Do you get elastic thread at a place like Joann’s in the thread section, do you know?
Yes you should be able to get it at joanns or hobby lobby.
Your striped sock looks great and definitely a good project for travel!
Glad you enjoyed your first festival.
I will second the previous recommendation to shop online with Wool & Company. They do carry La Bien Aimee.
Thanks! I’m so glad to have that recommendation. Oh wow. Wool and Co has La Bien Aimee. ….dangerous!
@@AdventurerKnits even more dangerous for me: they carry Woolfolk 🤑
